I like him giving Garnacho another go today - would have hit him hard to be left out after the last game. He has to do better today of course.

Why? He did nothing to suggest he should start.

It's amazing that people still haven't learnt that Sancho playing decently for 20 minutes from time to time doesn't mean anything. His problem has always been consistency. His last cameo was good, by his atrocious standards, but nothing spectacular warranting a start as some have suggested.

The team have spent months working on this new system. Very unlikely we abandon it immediately after 1 match.
Exactly this. We have only this midfield. No injuries and I highly doubt another signing. ETH has to make it work.

Would have understood if Sancho came in for Garnacho, but I like that he's given him another chance as a starter. I'm optimistic that we'll see a better performance. This game has something like 2-2 written all over it.

Teams can be rusty in their first few games and new players can take time to bed in.

The negativity is way over the top. We haven't even kicked off and it is doom and gloom.

We got this. Wolves were just a bit insane last game in terms of how many times they succeeded against 1v1s, 3v3s etc. That doesn't normally happen. Even then we forced a ton of high turnovers.

His cameo was ok, but not game changing like some deluded fanboys said it was.

Us not selling Maguire and McTominay makes our squad look so much shittier.

And Ten Hag will really pisss me off if we dont make adjustments in our set up today.
I would rather us have kept Fred and sold McTominay. Think he can cover for Casimero better than Scotty.

I'm not saying he does. Just that given that Garnacho maybe had his worst game in a United shirt and Rashford looked awful centrally as well, that he could easily feel he'd done enough to get himself a start this time with his cameo against Wolves and good performances in pre-season.

Not suggesting he has or should kick a stink up with the manager or anything like that at all. I hope the call is right and Garnacho tears them up.
There's nothing to it. I was just responding to the notion that he has a right (and V.O. was being kind) to feel aggrieved because Garnacho had a stinker in the opening game of the season. How many times has Sancho let the club down? Anyway, ETH probably went with the "i give you the opportunity to redeem yourselves" logic for this one. I hope it works, otherwise it's going to be a very long Saturday night on the Caf.

Aye, cheers to you both. Just struck me as highly speculative.
I think if Sancho does good he'll eventually gets his starts. If only because of his price tag. We don't know what exactly happened last year with him, maybe easing him off into it is the best.
Everyone agrees Garnacho probably need starts to really develop.

Plus perhaps some tactical considerations by EtH about their right channel.

The squad lacks depth in midfield and attack. This hasn't been addressed.
It'll look better/stronger with Hojlund, Mainoo, Amad available... I do agree we need another midfielder though.

Don't get naming two keepers, rather than Hannibal (he shouldn't be now playing U21's).

Think the game will be more open today and we will be able use our strengths a bit more

What is this fabled new system we keep hearing about. I'm not seeing anything obviously different, tbh.

I really don’t get this 2 keepers on the bench thing.
The chances of subbing the keeper are very low and a double keeper sub, close to totally unlikely.
This is such a waste of options, even if we have a thin bench of backup players.

Meanwhile, ETH is stubbornly sticking to his game plan from last Monday night.
Spurs will be having a right laugh.

Can we at least wait till 30 minutes into the match before we go all doom and gloom with the same team. Let's actually see if the setup has changed and if the team put more energy into the match before we complain.

Clearly you didn’t actually watch the game last week I see.

So you're basing your whole assessment on a players ability by the single game last week? Recency bias to the extreme. Two years of poor performances from Sancho, mixed with the odd twenty minutes he actually looks useful every five games isn't big enough a sample size though?

How are we starting the same bunch (-Martinez)???
It is time to play Sancho/Martial over Garnacho/Antony and let Rash play out left.

The two keepers thing annoys me. In that situation, there should always be a youth player chosen to be on the bench, or somebody else on the fringes. It's an utter waste of a spot. I don't understand why he does this.

Why would three unproven players make this better? Listen to yourself, this is naive.

Issue with Fred is you never know if you're going to get an 8/10 performance or a 2/10 performance. Hell, sometimes you'll get both in the same game.

I don't think McT is United quality, and we should look to sell and replace him sooner rather than later, but at least with him you usually know what you're getting - a consistent 5/10 performance. Not great, not terrible.

I guess we will see today how good EtH is at coaching. He certainly backs himself.

Sancho fanboy, they think he can do no wrong and it's the rest of the team that is at fault for his woeful performances.

Hope I'm wrong, but I have a bad feeling that EtH hasn't learnt from the team's shortcomings in away games last season. We could be in for a really rough time against "a determined to prove their worth" manager + squad with that porous midfield.

I can't imagine another fanbase defending a player who has played so poorly over such a long period of time. Our standards have dropped off a cliff, sadly.

Surprised its the same team but ETH rarely drops poor performers straight away.

We need to see Mount holding better positions and getting more involved and AWB getting forward more. It would also be nice if Rashford bothered to turn up but you can't have everything.

Slightly optimistic about today. The last game had several players playing below their normal levels, if they just wake up we should be playing much better. Also Spurs will likely giving us more space than Wolves.

He’s probably stuck with this squad to prove a point. Hope it pays off. Feel like Casa will get isolated again.

A lot of players in the team have them. Martial is another example. Meanwhile players like Rashford and Bruno get demonised by these fanboys despite being our best and most productive players.
