I am totally stumped , has he taken your youth players to play or just for a bit of 1 st team squad experience !
I reckon Axel will start and the rest on the bench. I'll have more interest in it if he does chuck em all in.

Notice this time only one of the youngsters will not make the bench (MEN say two, besides J.Pereira).

That would mean having to start Herrera, who just started 5 in a row!

Sadly not too well up on the youth players, I have never seen them play, are they good ?
    All 4 are average IMO.

Olosunde can't defend to save his life, Mitchell is alright depending on where he's playing, McTominay is a big lump and Willock is meh.

    Nothing to get excited about.

Unless anyone is particularly knackered from Thursday, there's no need to go too nuts with rotating for this one is there?

Plenty of room for that in the next 2.

It's pretty mad to think we have a cup final in 11 days, yet have to see off three league games first!

It is, I'd rather Mou rotates as he sees fit, and not be too bothered about the league games, that has gone now.

Judging from what some are saying, we don't actually have any real youth talent coming through apart from TFM and Tuanzebe, do we?! I don't count Rashford, he's now established.

Funny Jose gets stick for not trusting youth but when our own fans don't rate these kids, I don't blame him for not wanting to play them. Are there any lads not on this list who are capable of being a proper United player? Whos RoShawn Williams, I've heard some saying he's good?

It's the poorest U-23 side for ages. That is not Jose's fault. You cannot play kids just for the sake of it. They have to be a serious talent.

Avoid a spanking, let's take the game to them and have fun.

3 man midfield would have been ideal but a 442 is pretty useful against a 352 formation.

Ddg, Valencia, smalling, bailly, blind, Carrick, Herrera, lingard, mata, martial, rashford

    Valencia didn't travel?

Good. He did well the other game. Although this might be a game too far for him.
Well he can't be any worse than Darmian, he needs a rest also.

He will probably be against Son so will need his pace to deal with him. Think the kid is ready though, if you can handle Sanchez there's not many harder.

Just hope the officials aren't in a party mood tomorrow as well. I would really like us to be party poopers.

Be even worse next season when City wins the league.
    You laugh now:lol:

All they need are two full backs, CDM and another attacking option. Meanwhile we are chasing lumps like Lukaku and Real Madrid leftovers. Worrying summer ahead.

Totally agree, the youth nonsense does my head in. You can't just play kids coz they've come through the academy, that's both career suicide and putting the team in jeopardy. If you're good enough you will get game-time. We've produced some real stinkers from our youth team in recent years, very few if any have been of MUFC quality.

Does it even matter if we win this game or not? Surely there's no way to catch Liverpool. Would rather see us keep our best players fit for the EL final.

Look at poor old Tom Thorpe, captain of the U-23 that won titles, captain of one of the young England sides. Released by Rotherham.

Yep, and remember LVG was praised to the heavens for regularly playing Tyler Blackett and Paddy McNair? Remind me where those lads are now, and what their fans think of them in terms of ability. Bang average players, at best. You sometimes wonder if some fans would actually be happier if we were finishing 14th in the table every year but our team was brimming with lads like McNair and Blackett - proper local lads.

    He's been released?

He was one of those that was all the rage around here. Van Gaal got dog's abuse for not giving him a chance.
Yep. He had a couple of loans as well during his time. I know he was at Bolton, saw him on TV. He didn't look too bad actually.

Some would be happy with that.

Tbh, there some players that just need that one shot that could be a stepping stone to kick on. Thorpe was one of those players. In the same way if Keane never got injured and Fletcher was fit, maybe Rashford won't be the player he is today. Thorpe was a level ahead McNair and Blackett but uncle LvG was more interested a left footed CB instead.

There's always that element of luck when young players get a break. Time and chance and what not.

How in goodness name he thought Blackett and McNair were any good?

That's LvG's method unfortunately or fortunately if it works. He prefers to mould players while they are still malleable. He'd rather work with a 16/17 year old than an 18 year old that has been on loan. Plus that way, he takes all the glory for being the sole reason for their success in the future, as you often hear him brag about the Ajax and Barca boys. He prioritises youth success/turnover over club success.

That's the good side of LvG, he looks to the future but naively assumes that football which is now based on results will wait for him.

Thorpe and Keane were too old for him in that there were another 2 in McNair and Blackett that could "replace" them.
