Happy enough with that. Some youth getting a chance, good faith in Lindelof even though he's been shite but he is still new to the club, should give him some confidence to get past the weekend. Martial, Rashford and Lingard together in a front 3 tends to work well too. Blind at left back should be our starter every week but only being rotation.. meh. Better then nothing.

As opposed to being "potentially world class" and not trying?

Fans seem to have an obsession with giving players with long term injuries a right to play. The reality is that long term injuries almost always change a players physical attributes and mentality.

The leg break changed Shaw as a player, he's lost confidence, motivation and also had another injury related to the leg break.

Its extremely tough to come back from a double leg break the same player before it.

    1. Because we're paying him a lot of money and Jose doesn't want him sitting at home playing his Playstation all night
    2. Supposed to be a first team player
    3. Yup
    4. Nope, Young, Blind and Darmain are all better
    5. Yes he could. You need to watch the reserves
    6. Yep
    7. Nope

Darmian is no better than any of us caftards.

Darmian is no better than any of us caftards.

He’s rubbish if he’s asked to go beyond the half way line but found form as a defensive fullback come third centreback last season.

Disappointed Shaw not starting, can't see Mourinho giving him any minutes

In the second season for the 8 or so matches you mean? LVG was with us for two seasons, so was Shaw. He's not less 'dross' than Young and Darmian, he doesn't even 'try' whereas they at least do. He's a fecking waster.

Please. He played a handful of good games. in more than 3 years. If he still hasn't recovered from an injury that happened years ago, he's not in the right sport. Even Lvg criticised him. The fact that he can't get ahead of the likes of Darmian says it all.

The one game he played this season he played well, made a great run that would've counted as a goal if it weren't incorrectly called offside.

He's shown that he has the ability in those 8 games under Van Gaal and in Southampton to be very very good, I'd much rather play someone who can reach high levels than those that are distinctly average. All the top sides have technical, pacey fullbacks, instead we have one that doesn't do anything (Darmian), one that's good on the ball but has no pace (Blind), and one that cuts back and crosses into the stands 9/10 times (Young, though a bit harsh as that was just last match, I do like Young at LB).

Something like 'trying' is incredibly subjective, I saw enough effort in the one actual match that he's played this season. I'm also incredibly hesitant to take on board the judgement of Mourinho on technical players given his similar assesements on trying/ off the ball work on De Bruyne, Mata, Lukaku etc. Maybe it's true but at least play him in these dross matches and then judge him.

It's lot easier to defend for a fullback when that's all he's asked to do in the game. And let's not pretend he is some great defender either.

We have people here criticising Smalling for his build up play and everyone is ignoring that our main rotation fullback can't play football. Rubbish player who shpuldn't be anywhere near our squad, let alone first XI.

Why don't we have clap gif?

Looking forward to tonight's game, can't quite understand why there is any negativity!

    Come on support the lads!

Do you really think Mourinho bases his team selection on "8 games under Van Gaal" and "a game where he made a good run"?

He watches him train every day. If he isn't playing today it's because he hasn't done anything to earn it.

It's a shame that Shaw is still blocking Demetri Mitchell's first team opportunities. His position versatility makes him a possible successor to Young's role but we'll never know if he never gets first team experience.

Schneiderlin was also fantastic for Southampton and ADM won a CL and was world class before coming to us. Should we have kept them as well? What they do in previous clubs is irrelevant to what they do in a United shirt.

I think we made a mistake with Shaw. We should have sold him and bought a new LB this season. Hopefully Jose won't make the same mistake again.

The manager had to be a babysitter for Luke Shaw because he didnt know what to do on the pitch.

Watching him play his positioning is all over the place, he seems to have no idea when to over and under lap and randomly runs into midfield chasing the ball.

You will get used to it, give it time, and will learn to ignore some posters. And every once and a while you write words "sack" "sell", just for the fun of it. Oh, and don't forget white letters. And I strongly suggest not to read the Caf when we lose the game. Then I usually feel bad for not having any hacking knowledge.

He didn't seem to have such problems at Southampton under Pochettino it was IIRC.

I've put a counter to that in the post you quoted already, namely Mourinho's track record with other players like KDB and also the fact this is a game for the fringe players where Shaw really should be tested.

I don't disagree with selling those players, my point is this is a 3rd round league cup match and Shaw really should be tested in these matches, and then judge him. He was decent in his 1 outing this season. I'd agree with selling Shaw if we brought a replacement in, but we haven't, so we could really do with him gaining some form as his top form is a significant upgrade on all our current options.

Shaw is in trouble. What other industry would you be so bad at your job and still earn 70,000 k a week.
Not 70k per week but meteorologists get a fair bit wrong and they stay employed. In fact, some have a similar fan following.

Let's see what Herreras made of tonight
Not expecting him to do any wonders with a new set of players. When you are not in the form and then have to again connect with a new set of players, it is unlikely to be much different from previous game.

It's a shame that Shaw is still blocking Demetri Mitchell's first team opportunities. His position versatility makes him a possible successor to Young's role but we'll never know if he never gets first team experience.

How is Shaw blocking anyone, when he's 4th choice left back?!

This is what happens when you make the move to a big club. The expectation is much higher.

He probably had the same problems at Southampton but Pochettino was patient with him since he was a promising prospect.

Lots of players from stepping stone clubs (Southampton, Dortmund, Ajax etc.) don't step up a level when they leave, partly because we tend to overlook their flaws because they play for another team and partly because they are in a higher pressure situation.

Top team. Fergie-esque if you will.

Good blend. Tuanzebe man to watch.
Think Lingard, Martial and Rashers will link well.
Missing a pair of young proper wing backs.
    What of Shaw?

Good team. Only grievance I have is that no matter how well Tuanzebe plays he wont be in the next squad. That's my only grievance with Jose, he doesnt play players who are in form. Instead we put up with diabolical performance with Miki, Herrera but they still feature

The biggest relief for me with this team is seeing Jones on the bench. I also like the idea of Martial and Rashford starting together.
