It's a daft celebration where the fans turn the backs to the field and jump around. Popularised by Poznan, a club in what i would assume to be Poland and copied by Citeh fans.

In 2012 when we lost the league to "Aguerrooo" at the Stadium of Light, the Sunderland fans did the celebration as they mocked us for losing the league.

Like I told my friend earlier, they'd best be Poznan-ing their way to the Championship now.

    They've changed tacts.

Now they do the "fire alarm", all disappearing off with 10mins left.
    Pathetic lot.

Yup - Its Lech Poznan in Poland who do it.

Were sitting back yet got complete control of possession, makes sense!

I meant controlling the game by actually being able to attack and put some pressure on a team that's one man down.
We've hardly pressed Sunderland back with possession based football have we? Every single highlight from the 2nd half is from a counter attack..

I'll be honest, I don't think he's that good. Last season was a freak occurrence, it was just a young unknown quantity being thrown in the deep end with defences not knowing anything about him, or what to expect. Now they know what he's about, he's looking pretty average to be honest, nothing special.

EDIT - Hahaha, as I post that he scores.

1 goal should not change your assessment.
I think its too early to assess, but as you have said, he certainly isn't as good as most of us believed last season.

He dint make enough contact for victor to go down, as if he did anichibe would go down in an instant. Even then it would be a penalty and yellow at max, not even a yellow.
It wasn't an attempt to play the ball so would've been red if anything. He got away with it as it wasn't a smart thing to do.

Great to see Rashford score, show the retards who've been hammering on about him since he came on a thing or two. Feckin negative as hell thread as always on here.
He was basically spoon fed that goal, he scored after wasting 2 chances and fecking up many touches. He deserves criticism, actually being set up to score a goal shows how desperate he was.

Can someone explain what this poznan is?
Its a city in Poland, but we have no polish players.
When City beat us to the title on the last day in 2012 Sunderland fans started to do the Poznan celebration which City fans used to do to wind us up.

Ooo! I got the scoreline right too! I really should play this prediction game thing more often, it's kinda fun. :p

And it's abundantly clear we are reserving enjoying for the biggest gsme of our season so far on Thursday.

Adequate performance we seem incapable of playing at pace and seriously stretching teams. Sunderland were awful and we should be more ruthless.

Can't wait to see this putrid lot relegated. The sheer pleasure of it will be glorious.

They really let Newcastle fans have it at the end of last season too. The fact that they'll likely be swapping spots in the Prem and the Championship is all the proof you'll need that karma's real and that it's a bitch.

3 GD behind Arsenal and City, game in hand on City, 6 behind Liverpool , including Rashfords goal.

GD could be a factor, it's not that far off.

Absolutely. It could very well come down to goal difference just like last season. That's why it's very good that we scored 3 today. It also helps that our defensive record is awesome. We have a better defence than even Chelsea.

Spare a thought for poor Moyes.

A few years ago he was hand picked by Fergie himself to succeed him.

Fast forward to today and he is odds on to be relegated.

Next season he will be making trips to Bolton and Barnsley and Bristol City, when he was once upon a time destined to lead his team out against Bayern and Barcelona. Poor chap. Football can be a cruel game.

The fact that we suck at scoring but still have a decent goal difference shows how good our defence has been. Spend the entire summer budget on midfield & attack and we'll do alright.

Still We need a Ball Playing Cb good at defense too and a cdm with good passing range like Fabinho

If by "spare a thought for" you mean "laugh uproariously at," then pencil me in for some of that.

I agree, he was, but it's certainly not a stick to beat him with at this stage.

He has suffered the stereotypical second season syndrome, but that's perfectly understandable, new manager, new position, sky high expectations, still very young, etc, & yet Jose has still seen enough to play him regularly (albeit out of position), so for me it was nice to see his team mates busting a gut to help him out of this sticky patch, it shows everyone is looking out for him, and more so that he's worth the effort, must be a great feeling for the lad.

Would love to see a matchday thread free of wums, trolls and most of the knee-jerk moaners of different flavours. I know, I know. No harm in dreaming, though.

So you agree with me then that we were "sitting back"?
I just think that we should be able to play a more positive game for 45min against relegation fodder like Sunderland, especially when they are down to ten men and we're two goals up. I know it's not Jose's style but it's not really asking for much is it..

No we weren't sitting back, we just weren't pressing. You don't have over 70% possession if you are sitting back, which is 15% more than our average for the season. Those figures don't add up amigo.

It has nothing to do with Jose's style, he has tried to emulate what is perceived as the United way, he has sat back no more than Fergie did. It's preservation, why go ape shit after another goal when the match is over and we have an incredibly important game coming up Thursday that has a massive impact on whether this season is a success or a failure. It's good management.

I put sitting back in qoutation marks for a reason. I get that we had the ball and that we didn't need to score 9 goals, it's just the way we played that I'm complaining about. I didn't want them to go ape shit, I simply wanted to see us be on the front foot against a 10-man team which struggle to do anything positive no matter the game and no matter how many players they've got on the field instead of just shutting up shop with 44min left to play. You don't really need to spend all that much more energy if you lift play 20m further up field, at least if you're a team capable of passing the ball.
It also has everything to do with Jose's style, you'd never see Guardiola, Wenger or Klopp play like that in that situation. Whether Jose has tried to emulate the United way during the season can be discussed, but he certainly didn't do it yesterday imo.

That's not what "sitting back" means in football terms.

None of them are facing a 60+ game seasons. Seriously, have you seen our fixture list? We're looking at a game every three days. Sensible management dictates you preserve your side, Fergie has done it countless times, it's an embarrassment to react this way when you consider we won 3-0 away from home and have the fixture congestion we are facing.

Even so Pep Guardiola and Klopps sides haven't managed to put 3 past this same Sunderland side, Liverpool actually drew 2-2 away to Sunderland in January. Or you saying we should play more like this current Wenger side, right?

I know that isn't what sitting back means, that's why I put it in quotation marks. Excuse me for my poor vocabulary but I'm pretty sure you know exactly what I mean. Especially when I've explained what I meant by it more than once.

Yes it's sensible, I agree. Maybe I'm living too much in the past when I expect United to be able to actually dominate against a mighty 10-man Sunderland side without running their legs off. What's embarrassing though is calling my reaction an embarrassment.. My first comment on all this was "You'd think we would be able to control the game a bit better.".. I'm hardly up in arms about how tragic the game was and how shit we were am I? Insinuating that I want us to play like this current Wenger side is also a very poor attempt at twisting my words. I simply mentioned that some coaches wouldn't have played counter attacking football against Sunderland in that situation, in an attempt to show that it very much is Jose's style. That's hardly the same as wishing we were more like Arsenal.

I'm simply expressing my opinion that I would want us to be able to play differently in a situation like that and not go for the boring let's-see-the-game-out option, no matter if we have to play four days later or not.

Just got back. I knew the score because I got a high school girl to text it to me. Don't know the scorers yet, so when the kettle has boiled I'll get the highlights on.
