Smalling is good but not great, others are from average (Blind, Darmian) to shit (others), not counting Shaw who is injured.

Agree on the first bit, the midfield gave a lot more protection than it does now. It's like one of the journos said - if we defend we can't attack, if we attack we can't defend.

Don't agree re Smalling though - he is great. He can't do it alone though. Shaw is a massive miss.
