Rooney and Carrick need to come off, we need Schweinsteiger on the pitch. Despite the goal, we were atrocious in the first 35 minutes with the countless backwards and sideways passes culminating in an aimless hoofball by Smalling and/or Rojo.

Blind has been bullied by Pelle and has been a bit shit for the first time this season as a CB. Smalling needs to stop with the hoofballs, but our lack of movement in midfield isn't helping our build-up play at all.

First 30min was as bad as it could be, no penetration no speed no imagination, just pass among the defenders and damn lucky pelle hit the post, otherwise it will be a mauling at that time. Anyway Martial is good

Very noticeable the difference Shaw makes to the left hand side.

Carrick needs to wake up, spending too long looking for the perfect pass. Schneiderlin needs to be more offensive. Rooney, typical effort this season. Mata took too long to get involved, but has started to tick.

Crying out for maybe a Herrera or Young to bring some movement.

Southampton lost a bit of confidence after their early success. See them getting tired second half. United to get a winner.

    Carrick,Rooney,Mata,Depay have been wank.
    Some subs are needed.

    Class finish from Martial.
Hope we can add a goal or two in the 2nd half.

Do you have something against Spanish people? Your stance on Mata literally, literally has no basis in reality.

Did a Spanish waiter bang the hell out of your mum or something?

You know that there's no reason to use that kind of language, and why does it mean I hate spanish people. I suppose because I didn't want Anderson to start in the past, that I hated Brazilians as well. Idiot.

I think we should bring on Bastian for Rooney as we're struggling to take control of midfield.

Fergie would have us destroying everyone with this team. Compare the players we have now to the team Fergie won the league with before he retired.
    Please come back Fergie.

Lucky to be level at half time. Goal should not have stood but the ref and lino were not looking which is fortunate. After an awful start, we started to get back into he game though Rooney and Mata need to be more influential. Hope to Schweinsteiger in the second half as our midfield is too slow playing the ball forwards.

That wasn't much fun. We seem determined to make this game as hard as possible for ourselves.

Constantly passing it around in front of our box with no tempo. Southampton are getting joy out of closing us down and then looking to send pace down our wings. We need to try and dominate the game higher up the pitch and give our forward players more to work with. If we sustain some momentum going forwards we will probably score again. Martial looks lively enough while someone needs to light a fire under Memphis, Rooney and Mata. Carrick and Schneiderlin meanwhile look like they have all the time in the world to do nothing.

We started slowly, Southampton obviously were going to attack, especially down Blind's side, any manager would exploit that since Shaw has gone. I thought we grew late on, Southampton couldn't keep that pace up and they will play into our hands. I'm not saying the football is pretty or exciting, but I wouldn't be surprised if we wont this comfortably at all....

The restrictions placed on him by the need to play the safe option at almost all costs.

I thought the problem with Memphis was his inability to control the ball, make an intelligent decision or not give the ball away every time he touches it in the league?

Can you actually point out a single time he has chosen to "play the safe option"?

Ya. Exactly, it has nothing to do with his instructions and everything to do with his ability to not give the ball away because he is always trying to do something attacking with it.

I'm sure he will eventually come good, but right now he is shocking and it has nothing to do with "playing safe".

Interesting reverse to the rest of the season. In every other game we dominate the first 20 minutes then fall asleep.

Better end to the 2nd half from us. I don't understand why it took a goal to concede for us to get our shit together.

We were very fortunate with the goal, and I feel for Southampton, but these things tend to even out over the course of the season (Remember Rooney against Spurs as an example). What worries me is where we could be right now had the correct decision been given.

THe problem with us is we don't look threatening enough when it's 0-0. It takes a goal to be scored either way for us to become active otherwise we just seem to be dormant throughout the match. It's evident to me in most of our games so far barring Newcastle.

Mata would be slightly less shit than Rooney as the #10, Ander should come on.

Carrick was terrible for the first 30 minutes, in fact everyone was terrible he was just far worse. Positives being the improvement in the last 15 minutes and Martial, he looks sharp.

Carrick and Morgan need to swap positions. Morgan seems to be getting a lot of the ball and Carrick very little of it. With Carrick being the bestter progressive passer, its killing us!

Oh and Rooney, you can play number 10 and just keep thinking about Hollywood balls out wide. play some passes into your striker you cnut.

Poor start but we improved. Mata isn't a player that bosses the game, he is a player that creates a few extremely dangerous moments throughout the game, some of you seem to expect him to play like Xavi but that's not what he does. Rooney has been poor as has Carrick. Schneiderlin needs to take less touches but other than that our players look okay to good. Memphis has had a tough time but that is to be expected when they are double teaming him every time he gets the ball or the ball even goes down the left side.

Rooney is a fecking passenger. Walking about on the pitch, cant be bothered to press. We never won second balls because of him, which makes us take a long time to get the ball back. Get him the feck out!!

rooney always looks off the pace when hes back from an injury, which is normal. hope hes taken off for herrera by 60mins
