    DDG
    Dalot Varane Martinez Malacia
    Eriksen Casemiro Bruno
    Sancho Martial Rashford

This is our starting 11 at the moment

With no Martial so same starting front 3 as vs Liverpool. Elanga and Sancho on flanks and Rashford up top.

Wonder if we'll just go long on this one too. The Southampton high press isn't bad. Atleast go long on most GKs.

I was hoping we'd have signed more players by now. But of course we haven't, and with Martial injured once again I'm feeling much less confident about this game. It could easily go either way and I think we will be on the back foot for the majority of the game.

If Ronaldo doesn't start here, then surely he is leaving, right?

If Martial starts…I’m going all in…I always bought in to what Ole was trying to when he was initially chasing Sancho…with Rashford/Martial/Sancho/Greenwood…you could sense there would be chemistry and in the little we have seen on it so far Sancho/Rashford/Martial is going to work very well indeed.

If we start with those 3 and the same back line as against Liverpool…I’m going 4-0 plus to Utd.
Martial out. Not so optimistic now.

Or maybe we do what we started with v Liverpool. Sancho, Rashford, Elanga.
I'd like to see Ronaldo up against Peters in an aerial duel in the box. I think this might be the game for him.

Martial out confirmed , so that means Ronaldo starts ?
If not he is going ?

Yeah probably seems like he’ll start now but I’d rather go with the same front four from the Liverpool game. First 25 mins of that match was the best performance football we have played this season.

    Dalot Varane Martinez Malacia
    ——————Casemiro——————
    ——— Bruno ———— Fred ———
    Sancho — Rashford — Garnacho*

*Probably not. More likely Elanga if Anto isn’t fit. Not sure we start Ronalod. He needs to check himself before he wrecks himself.

We should see Casemiro come in for McTominay and Shaw come in for Malacia. Otherwise the squad should be the same.

Martial out is a blow, and makes me worry we will see Ronaldo start.

He'll start, you don't really need that much work rate against Southampton. Generally should be able to keep possession. Just hope we continue to go long on GKs.

Martial is the only forward in the squad who can hold the ball up, it's criminal. Memphis is starting to make a lot of sense.

I read they changed formations or something and have not been pressing as much as they use to but I still prefer we go with the more energetic front 3. If they do continue to go long at times (which I agree with you they should) it fits having a front 3 that can press high, also if Ronaldo is in then Bruno will press for him and that creates such a huge gap in midfield.

The biggest question going into this match is obviously how the midfield lines up.

    Personally, I think our most balanced and effective midfield will be the following format;

    Casemiro
    One of Bruno/Eriksen
    One of Fred/McTominay

Personally I would play Eriksen and McTominay from those options. Casemiro sitting deep, McTominay as the box-to-box player driving forward to support the attack, and Eriksen providing the composure and playmaking.

We need to follow up the Liverpool game with another win, starting here handing this lot a proper spanking. 0-3 United

Yeah, there's no way Ronaldo doesn't start this. Unless of course he transfers but that is looking unlikely. Varane, Casemiro Ronaldo (not as a front 3 of course)

We should see Casemiro come in for McTominay and Shaw come in for Malacia. Otherwise the squad should be the same.

Why the actual feck would we bench Malacia? He kept Salah in his pocket ffs he did so well.

Martial is a liability at this point. Forget the price, we need to get Antony over the line or we will end up with Elanga playing often and he’s just not good enough really.

The main thing I want to see here even more than the result is to keep up the fight and spirit from the last match.

I’m confident we will do well here - I don’t think ETH will accept us regressing in the same way that previous managers might have done.

In light of the Martial news, my line-up would be:
    DDG
    Dalot, Varane, Martinez, Malacia
    Eriksen, Casemiro, Fred
    Sancho, Rashford, Bruno/Garnacho

If Ronaldo doesn't start this game, with these injuries, it's all but confirmation he's gone.
