Must win game. All these first 7 are. Lay down the marker. We have the quality just need to start well and not have any silly mistakes. We can easily score two goals even on an off day.

No reason for James to start. Sancho has been training for a while now. Get him in the 11.

If we score early, we'll destroy them again.

Saints have lost Ings and Vestergaard , two important players that always play well against us. Even with one guaranteed JWP goal , we should outscore them.

I think all games will be "must win games". Nowadays I think you will need 90 plus points to win the title.

I agree but these "easy" games against the bottom half teams are crucial. stack those wins against the chumps and the draws and losses against the top teams wont be as bad.

I’m worryingly confident. Even if we concede a couple, I fancy us to score 4 or 5 with the fire power going forward. Goals everywhere!

Hope Sancho starts but I reckon we’ll be unchanged

Unlike most I hate the McFred midfield. It's okay to play it for specific games but I hope going forward it's not the go to midfield especially with us shoring up the defense with the addition of Varane.

It's a decent midfield against a team like Leed that just play open but with most teams we would need more than just energy in midfield and that's where it simply doesn't work.

With Bruno, Pogba, Greenwood, Sancho and Shaw all on form, McFred should be just fine. All they have to do is break up play and give it to those guys. Perfect for them. More than enough to beat Southampton.

The only issue is if those guys are out of form and we start asking the midfield two to give us something extra.

I can see us winning this one no matter what lineup we put out. Confidence and fitness seem to be sky high, and we’ll have plenty of players on the bench capable of changing the game if needed.

I've seen this script way too many times last season. When it came to deep defense we always ended up asking for more creatively in midfield despite having good attacking players lined up.

We saw how the McFred midfield last season would just pass the ball around and fail to initiate the attack against deep blocks, they'd failed to get our talented attackers involved and I don't see that changing this season either.

We should always throw in one of Matic, Pogba or VDB in midfield especially against teams sitting deep.

I take it with all the 3rd kit promo on Instagram, they are wearing that kit today rather than the blue and white one?

I think he should. He's certain to be first choice going forward, so why delay the process.
I’d be surprised if he starts, not been in the squad long enough, it would be better man management to let Lindelof start this one. He may come on in the second half for a run out if we’re up.

I think we can milk the best out of Lindelof while he tries his best to keep Varane out of the side. A bit harsh to start Varane when Lindelof played well in a team which did magnificently last week. Varane off the bench when we are comfortable for me.

I've gone for it and put both Sancho and Varane as starters in my lineup prediction. Dont let me down Ole!

Really looking forward to this game seems to be a real feel good factor around the team at the minute. Think we are going to be in for a trickier time than the Leeds game but hopefully with the confidence flowing we can still get the job done convincingly. I'm going for a 3-1 win.

Varane off the bench for me. Sancho to start hopefully. Let’s keep this good start going chaps. Confidence is high and our attackers are purring! I hope not too much focus on that away record is mentioned!

You could almost say its Ole's first real test.

    I'm sorry
To be honest I was going to add that in myself but I resisted

Hopefully Ole woke up this morning and was like Feck it, lets be having them and unleashes the boys goes 433 and we hit them for 6.

    DDG
    Bissaka Varane Maguire Shaw
    Fred
    Bruno——-Pogba
    Greenwood Martial Sancho
Never happen and I imagine it’ll be the same as last week but with Sancho in for James with Varane, Martial, Donny to get 30 mins at the end.

Are we saying Martial is ready for a start? Cavani off the bench? Or we doing James and Pogba on the wings with Greenwood down the middle again with McFred holding?
Some right blood boiling piss to be expected as usually, but I think that is what will happen. They won well, so Ole will keep it and brig on Sancho and co in the 2nd half.

If you told me Ashley Young would have benched Di Maria at the start of 14/15 season, I would have laughed too. I just have a bad feeling whenever we sign a big name player. Hopefully Varane is more of a Cavani than a Schweinsteiger.

I have a bad feeling Varane will "flop" here like Schweinsteiger did. He will be fine, but not a huge upgrade on Lindelof. PL will not suit him.
If he is fine to start for a team that won the world cup or one that won 4 champions league, he will probably be fine to play against mighties Newcastle or Burnley of this world…

Di Maria didn’t want to be here, nothing to do with Varane. Gets your facts right.

That was last season though. Now we've added Sancho. Then there's Pogba off the left as opposed to Rashford, which gives deep lying teams a totally different problem.

I kind of like having two grafters in there to balance that out.

But I'd agree with you if we end up again with Rashford and James out wide. Then we'd need more craft in the middle.

We’re going to lose. Some of you aren’t ready for it. Big Caf meltdown.
