I think if successive managers had given this a proper go instead of moving him out to the right or the bench it would have been much better for us. Unfortunately he's not got long left at the required level, we've wasted him really.
Last week and this week are games made for Mata. I understand when we play the top teams and want to counter Mata's speed is NOT an asset. But in games where we will dominate possession Mata can usually be counted to create a few opportunities.-

I agree that he isn't particularly quick or strong. But, it's like that old phrase about good defenders never going to ground, and I consider the same thing for Mata. His positional sense is good enough that it means that he avoids being in situations where he needs pace or strength. At least, that's my view.
When we are in games where the opposition sit back and we can't break them down, he should 100% be starting those matches.At the rate that United are being sloppy giving away possession and chances, Southampton are eventually going to get lucky.- Status
