Southampton Football Club (nicknamed The Saints) are a professional football club based in Southampton, Hampshire. Southampton were founded in 1885 by members of St Mary's Church of England Young Men's Association. St. Mary's Y.M.A., as they were usually referred to in the local press, played most of their early games on The Common where games were frequently interrupted by pedestrians insistent on exercising their right to roam. More important matches, such as cup games, were played either at the County Cricket Ground in Northlands Road or the Antelope Cricket Ground in St Mary's Road. The club was originally known as St. Mary's Young Men's Association F.C. (usually abbreviated to "St. Mary's Y.M.A.") and then became simply St. Mary's F.C. in 1887-88, before adopting the name Southampton St. Mary's when the club joined the Southern League in 1894.

Southampton play their home games at St. Mary's Stadium, and were one of the founding members of the Premier League in 1992. The club has a long-standing sporting rivalry with Portsmouth in a match termed the South Coast Derby or the Hampshire Derby. Southampton has received praise for employing an attractive brand of football under Mauricio Pochettino, and having one of the best youth systems on English soil - which has produced the likes of Alan Shearer, Gareth Bale, Matth Le Tissier, Theo Walcott, Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain, James Ward-Prowse, Calum Chambers, Adam Lallana over the years - as well as current Manchester United leftback, Luke Shaw.

    We concede we probably lose.
Lingard will no doubt start again, injuries etc...Can’t fecking wait!

    2-1 Saints.

    No Lingard. Please.

This is going to be tough, probably a 1-1 draw or scrape an undeserved 2-1 win.

What I would like to see if Martial is out.

    ----------------------Dave-----------------------
    AWB---Lindelöf ---Maguire ---Young
    ----------Mctominay -------Pogba --------
    Greenwood ----Gomes-----James
    --------------------Rashford------------------

    Subs, Lingard, Mata, Matic

Let's bounce back. No Lingard in the starting line up

    ----------------DeGea---------------
    AWB---Lindelöf ---Maguire ---Dalot
    -----Mctominay -------Pogba --------
    James---------Gomes-----rashford
    ----------------Martial-----------------

If Martial is Injured I will put Pereira on right and James on left with Rashford upfront.

Same pattern as previous seasons where it becomes apparant early on that the managers best laid line up plans are wrong and he doesn't know his best team. Will matic fred mata pereira feature? Who knows.

We've been mismanaged to ruin by the glazers and Woodward and I couldn't give a flying f#ck what the score is here as even a win is just another step towards the wilderness.

    Suddenly a massive game

The pressure if Ole loses this given our run at the back end of last season as well would be huge.

    DDG
    AWB - Maguire - Lindelof - Young
    Scott - Periera
    Rashford - Pogba - James
    Martial

    DDG
    AWB Lindelof Maguire Dalot
    Fred
    Pogba Gomes
    Chong Martial Rashford

Do people actually think Gomes will start, or are they just being hopeful? Considering he hasn’t even made a match day squad yet.

I wouldn’t be against Greenwood coming in for Martial (assuming injured), and Young has to replace Shaw.

I can’t see him dropping Lingard at all. We’d need to push Pogba up and have Fred or Matic play deep.

Looking forward to having my weekend ruined again.

I could see us struggling in this game too. Southampton play with a back five, so most of our game will likely be Lindelof and McTominay passing between themselves.

Really wouldn’t mind for both Lingard and Mata to get small knocks to keep them out for one game in training so Ole is forced into doing something good.

We'll get teabagged in a pumped up St Mary's wearing our teabag stain shirt

We lose this it’s 10 games lost in 16 with only 3 fecking wins! I honestly don’t think I can 100% back any new manager further with that record. He will surely be on borrowed time.

De Gea, AWB, Lindelof, Maguire, Young, Fred, Pereira, Pogba, James, Rashford, Greenwood

If Shaw and Martial fit they Start.

    2-1 Saints.

Trashed Chelsea 4:0, then to lose to Palace... Seriously roll the dice and let this be the result. Nothing is predictable in this clusterfvck of a chaos, anyway.

Honestly don’t know what to expect. So unpredictable.

Could win comfortably/narrowly or be embarrassed again like today.

I’ve pretty much already given up watching this season.

Solskjaer for all his promises about youth and how Gomes/ greenwood will have a bit part to play and form part of the trusted squad yet he has consistently picked lingard which has struck my heart deeply and solidified the notion that he doesn’t really know what he is doing.

If he continues with lingard in next game, I will be boycotting this season again.

I know he didn't set the world alight, but to be honest, what's stopping going back to Pereira and the Chelsea lineup? There were more legs in that team. James has scored a couple of goals which is great, but he's a better bench option than starting option.

Would be worth him persisting with Lingard just for this then

Seriously since when did the number renowned with the word consistent equate to a single digit?

It's going to be a struggle. The gap between us and teams like Southampton is the smallest it's ever been, so on the day it could go either way. Plus they have a style of play and our manager is just a nice guy selected by Ed as the easiest option.

    DDG
    AWB-Lindelof-Maguire-Young

assuming Shaw and Martial are out

    DDG
    AWB Lindelof Maguire Young
    Fred McTominay Pogba
    Pereira Rashford James

    if they are fit

    DDG
    AWB lindelof Maguire Shaw
    Fred McTominay Pogba
    Pereira Martial Rashford

not that Pereira was a big standout in the Chelsea game, but we did win. May as well give him a shot back in the starting lineup.

If Liverpool struggled against them, we're going to get hammered.

What I would like to see if Shaw and Martial are out:

    ------------------Dave
    ----Lindelof---Tuanzebe---Maguire
    AWB-----------------------------Young
    --------McTom---------Pogba
    -----------------Gomes
    ----Greenwood--------Rashford

    What I expect:

    --------------Dave
    AWB--Lindelof--Maguire--Young
    ------McTom--- --Pogba
    Lingard--- - Pereira--- - James
    ----------- Rashford
