    --------------De Gea--------------
    Rafael--Smalling--Rojo----Young
    --------------Carrick--------------
    --------Herrera---Fellaini--------
    ---------------Mata---------------
    ----------Rooney-Falcao---------

    Assuming Di Maria is out.

Will be tough for sure, especially as it looks like our injury problems aren't exactly easing. Hopefully Rooney will be fit, ideally both him and Di Maria but I doubt the latter will be fit. Think Falcao might start as well, though it's probably a 50/50 shot between him and RvP. If Rooney is fit:

    De Gea
    Valencia Smalling Rojo Young
    Carrick
    Fellaini Herrera Mata
    Rooney Falcao

Southampton play two wingers and full-backs that push very high up. I don't think we can play the diamond because it would leave us too exposed.

With Di Maria out I would bring in Januzaj. Hopefully Rooney is fit otherwise I'm not sure who I would want to start up top.

    De Gea
    Valencia--Smalling--Rojo--Young
    Fellaini--Carrick--Mata
    Herrera--(Rooney)--Januzaj

Herrera out there to help out our Valencia.

Hoping Rafael is back for this one, along with Rooney.

Would be a big win this one for us.

    De Gea
    Rafael - Smalling - Rojo - Young
    Carrick
    Herrera - Di Maria
    Mata
    Fellaini - Rooney/Falcao

I taught about giving Di Maria the Robbin support striker role, but then I realized that he is much more influential when he is played deeper in midfield. Fellaini despite his good performance in the box to box role, his ability can also be used as a target man. Playing him ahead of Van Persie is a decision based on who is in the better form.

I think this will end up a draw, which wouldn't be awful. A win vs the dippers next at Old Trafford would be a must though.

Evans and Rafael should be back for this one. Need Rooney back. Missed him badly vs Stoke.

    de Gea
    Valencia Smalling Rojo Young
    Carrick
    Fellaini Herrera
    Mata
    van Persie Falcao
Dunno, think this team practically picks itself right now because of injuries.

I fancy our chances quite highly. I think Southampton are coming back to earth quickly now. They are not a top 4 side. Most people had them as relegation fodder before season started. Yes, they have played well, but now the confidence is going and they don't have a big enough squad to cope with the December fixture list.

not a fan of 3-5-2 but this is an away game and with rafael short of match fitness and shaw definitely out, maybe van gaal is going to alter his formation once again.

hope to have rooney available too.

Don't they have a terrible record against the better sides this season? It'd be a brilliant win. Draw is okay, I'm confident we'll beat the scouse next anyway.

oh god back to back two Southampton games. I hope we can get all the 6 points.

I wonder how they'll set up against us, looking to counter or more positive. Also it's LvG vs Koeman, don't they not like each other?

Rooney is essential for this match. Sou'ton will be a tough team to beat, but we have the fire power.
Luckily no injuries in previous match and hoping to be the same in training.
It's time to get the 5th.

    De Gea
    Rafael Smalling Evans Rojo
    Carrick
    Fellaini Herrera Mata
    Rooney Falcao

Chance for us to give a really big confidence boost. Bigger than the game at the Emirates, I think.

I'm praying that we could have Rooney and DiMaria back. This will be very a very tough fixture so we need all our best players.

Having Rooney back for this game will be crucial.

Shockingly, I think a fair amount of people still underestimate Rooney's impact on the team on a game-by-game basis. He's so integral in the overall team performance.

Really hope he's fit for this one. Southampton are a formidable side this season.

Certainly hope Rooney and Di Maria back, as the key two.

About time Evans, Jones, Rafael are back too.

Shaw I expect will be another week at least.
Rojo and Smalling look like they are forming a strong partnership; they complement each other well. I hope LvG persists with them.

If Evans and Jones are fit, they should be on the bench.

The whole of Asia seconds this..

I slept at 10pm. Got up at 1am. Watched the game and slept again at 3.15, and then got up at 5.30 to get ready and be at work by 6.30.

Finished my 5th cup of coffee 30 minutes back and have been loitering on this website since.

Anyway, I hope Rooney is fit for this one. The team misses him.

    De Gea
    Valencia Smalling Rojo Young
    Fellani Carrick Herrera
    Janujaz Van Persie Rooney

Janujaz has been dreadful recently....don't think he'll start.....

As an (east) Australian, Monday night football is at the very least preferable to the late game on Sunday. 6am is manageable, 3:30am not always.
I have to be at work for 8am! Means a day of avoiding the score (so no internet) and delayed coverage when I get home. At least I can watch at a time acceptable to have some beers.....

Hopefully Rooney's scan gets him the all clear as we missed his directness in the final third tonight. Other than that I expect the same line-up with hopefully RvP as the one to drop to the bench for Rooney.

    De Gea
    Valencia - Smalling - Rojo - Young
    Carrick
    Fellaini - Mata
    Herrera
    Rooney - RVP

Would like to see Falcao for an hour in place of RVP, but that's not going to happen for fitness reasons. Hopefully di Maria makes the bench and Rafael and one of Evans/Jones will be there as well. Can see this being a draw, 1-1. If Schneiderlin misses out that's a big plus for us.

We missed Rooney a lot yesterday, really hopes he returns by the next Monday. Win against Southampton and Liverpool will give us a REAL go finishing top 3.
