If Mourinho wants to stick with 4-3-3 today, maybe McTominay or Tuanzebe again in midfield could start, but I didn't like the experience, so I'm hoping he doesn't repeat it.

Didn't like Tuanzebe in midfield also, and his role in Spurs game to man mark Eriksen was pretty lame. The problem is we can't play as a CB because Smalling and Jones need to play and take sharpness before the final as one of them will play, so play him on the RB then.

I applaud anyone who gets 6 or above in the line up predictions.

    Likely to play:

    Romero
    Baily
    Tuanzebe
    Fellani
    Rooney
    Martial

    The rest, god knows...

    I'll go with this:

    Romero
    Tuanzebe - Jones - Bailly - Smalling - Darmian
    Carrck - Fellaini
    Juan Mata - Rooney
    Martial

This is such a grim fixture. I have to keep reminding myself that we're in the Europa League final, otherwise I'd cry at what our league campaign became.

    That looks about right mate.

Ide actually give Rashford 50-60mins. He only played 8mins at the weekend. I bet he's rating to go!

He can get a run as a sub for about half an hour or something like that.

Can we get Mitchell in the line-up predictions? Heard a rumour on Twitter that he'll be involved tonight along with McTominay.

    Valencia didn't travel.
OOps .. so it'll probably be, Bailly then as CB and Darmian over on the left.. Meaning one of Smalling or Jones missing out..
    -Romero-
Tuanzebe - Bailly - Jones- Darmian
    Carrick - Fellaini
    Mata - Rooney - Lingard
    - Martial -

And more, Mourinho already claimed that, for Tuanzebe's evolution right now, the more adequate position for him to play is right-back.

Let him have a run in this position. Can be some cover for Valencia next season, too.

I've been asking that for weeks now, he was even on the bench against Tottenham. I hope they put some more options for the Crystal Palace game, at least.

Edit: I've seen now it's done.

Don't really believe that, having Bailly performing also so well there. Besides, I think one of the summer buyings will be a young right-back (like Semedo) or at least a midfielder used to do that position too (Fabinho).

Bailly looked good on RB against Spurs but we lack heavily in CB position and we won't be able to buy too many CBs this summer, probably only one so we need him in central defense.

We're definitely going for a midfielder in summer but don't if we'll get a full back or not, think it'll depend on the available options+their price.

Don't forget Rojo is injured till the end of the year, so… I can see us going both for an experience ball-playing international center-back and the return of an English one (like M.Keane).

Depends on the prices, too. Keane will cost about 25-30m. Can't see us paying +60m for 2 defenders this season, putting in mind our lack of goals that needs to be sorted out, too.

Are we actually expecting these young lads to start? Or just pick up a few minutes at the end.

I actually have feeling Mata will score today and the game will end 1-0.

Wouldn't surprise me, we haven't exactly been playing badly, just not taking our chances but with absolutely no pressure and the cup final approaching I can see a few players impressing tonight. Hopefully Martial and Mata. Haven't really been impressed with Miki in the premier league this season.

Mikhi has been terrible since his injury in Saint-Etienne match in France. He returned from this injury a complete different player than when he was before it.

Yeah dunno whats up with him. He looks weak and holds on to the ball far too long on many occasions, causing him to lose it.

Needs a kick up the arse like the beginning of the season

In a way it would make sense to treat this as a bit of a dress rehearsal for the final, not play exactly the same team and give too much away, but certainly play a lot of the people he wants to feature to ensure they are nice and sharp. And then leave them out completely for the final game.

I think he'll go with the Europa final team tonight (except for Mata in for Pogba and Jones for the rested Blind) and then swap them all out (except for Smalling who needs match practice) against Palace.

    Vs. Southampton (4231) -

Romero; Valencia, Darmian, Smalling, Jones; Fellaini, Herrera; Mkhitaryan, Lingard, Mata; Rashford

    Vs. Palace (532) -

De Gea; Tuanzebe, Mitchell, Smalling, Bailly, Blind; Carrick, McTominay, Willock; Martial, Rooney

    Will Mourinho make Ferguson's mistake?
In 2009, there were 11 days between United’s coronation day against Arsenal and the Champions League final, with a final day trip to Hull sandwiched in between.

At Hull, Sir Alex Ferguson started Macheda, De Laet, Gibson, Welbeck and Fletcher - suspended for the Rome final after his dismissal at Arsenal in the semi-finals. Rodrigo Possebon, Richard Eckersley and Zoran Tosic emerged from the bench and United still won 1-0.

Ferguson was clearly preserving players for the final and not a single starter featured at Hull. The good intentions backfired when United were steamrollered by Barcelona and a number of players seemed ring-rusty, despite the auspicious start United made.

Giving players a prolonged rest is not always wise and Ferguson acknowledged that two years ago, when a number of Champions League final starters featured in the last league game and Gary Neville’s testimonial.

    And we still lost.

    Barca were just better.

Wow I didn't even know this game was on tonight! Never done that before ever! Cup final is all I'm thinking about

In a way it's nice to go into a game where the result truly doesn't matter one bit.

This time next week I'll be shitting myself with nerves.

After this 12hr shift I've just done I'm actually looking forward to tonight's match. No pressure on the result but a win would be nice. I just hope ...

    Rashford gets at least 60mins

    Martial starts

    Mata gets another 90mins

Smalling isn't all over the place again

Mctominay gets a decent run out

We don't get steamrolled by a motivated Southampton

I found it hard to get tickets for this, even in the home end. Which is weird because it's hardly going to be full and rocking tonight. Maybe I don't know the right people. Its always nice to know United are in my hometown.

Take a trip to the stadium before kick off mate! 90% sure you'd get a ticket to this for under £50 even in the home end. Like you said it's hardly gonna be full.

    Super excited for this lol.

Thank good we still have the final to play.
