Can we not just simulate this one?

Feel for the fans having to travel all that way for a dead rubber.

DDG didn't travel. Good bye, David.

Just had a text from the club offering me away tickets for this, I'm usually not eligible. Says a lot about the level of interest in the game, well done to those who make the journey!

OK based on the pre-match conference, my line up would be

    Romero
    Bailly Smalling Jones
    Tuanzebe Herrera Fellaini Darmian
    Mata Rashford Mkhi

It makes sense Romero would play a game if we want to keep him sharp.

Didn't Mourinho confirm in advance that Romero will start one of the last 2 League games?

He did. He also said that Pereira will probably make his PL debut. And there's no reason why DDG wouldn't have travelled as a sub GK, as he's done that all around Europe this season.

    Romero
    Bailly--Smalling--Jones--Darmian
    Herrera--Fellaini
    Mkhitaryan--Mata--Martial
    Rashford

subs: Pereira, Tuanzebe, Mitchell, Carrick, McTominay, Lingard, Rooney

Unless we're playing the final with that formation, I find it unwise to choose one just for this game.

    Hope Valencia isn't injured.

“I’m trying to get people to be the best they can be. This is a period in one week where I have to give one day off, give [Antonio] Valencia a day off. And, against Crystal Palace, two or three more [players], and against Southampton, two or three more. And that’s to try to arrive in the final in the best possible condition.”

Valencia's had some small problem for weeks now, so he'll only play the matches he really has to. Interesting to see after the season whether rest is enough or if there'll be an operation of some kind.

I really think we should be using these games to field our younger players, who are hungry to prove themselves to Jose. This is a relatively risk-free platform for them to actually get some minutes in the first team.

    Gone for this line up:

    Romero
    Tuanzebe Bailly Smalling Darmian
    Herrera Fellaini
    Mata Rooney Martial
    Rashford
Subs: Pereira, Jones, Mitchell, Carrick, McTominay, Lingard, Mhkitaryan

That's what I think too, but I'm always afraid he finally got really injured.
Nah, just giving him a good rest ahead of the final.
Don't think so. Surely he's not going to start against Crystal Palace, so that's a 13 days rest, just too much.

For most players I agree and I expect a line-up similar to what we'll play in the final. But Valencia is...well, Valencia. I could be wrong but I tend to think Mourinho just wants to give him a good rest and will trust him to come straight back in for the final.

If Jose plays anyone he's hoping to start against Ajax then he's out of his gourd. So no Herrera Fellaini
    Martial or Rashford, I hope.

20 points separating 6th and 8th, could be more if we weren't in the Europa final.

I was looking at previous seasons. 6th-8th is mostly about 3-10 points difference and once was 16 points. Of course the season is not over but the top six have really had an impact.

Too much rest can result in losing match rhythm. Most of the XI should be players who'll start vs Ajax.

I agree but what's the definition of 'too much rest'?

Not playing for two or three weeks cannot be too much rest in football if you are training regularly and playing none competitive football on the training pitch.

Not sure I will want to risk any injuries right now. The big game is just a week away.

Play the youths. If we're going to lose, let's lose with giving them minutes.

Totally with you here. The youths plus a few fringe players who might be useful in the cup final.

There are some players you absolutely don't want to lose to injury right now. Those ones can be kept sharp in training.

Don't care about tonight game...just hope Yoshida and Stephens are playing for adding point in my FF...

I'll probably pass this game unless youngsters are going to play. No point in seeing Rooney playing tbf.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't expect any youngster to be starting today. Besides Pereira and Tuanzebe, probably more 3 or so in the Crystal Palace one, though.

I don't expect many, too, but if 2 or 3 get their debut I may watch.

Think Crystal Palace is the game we may land to many youngsters.

If Mourinho wants to stick with 4-3-3 today, maybe McTominay or Tuanzebe again in midfield could start, but I didn't like the experience, so I'm hoping he doesn't repeat it.
