Line up prediction is broken for me, I choose my eleven and substitutes, then it tells me this my first line up prediction of the season, and do I want to predict 0 substitutes and 0 players

I had same issue but as long as it says "Thank you for your lineup prediction and good luck!" to the right of this thread then you're fine. Apparently there are a few teething problems with the lineup prediction game but the lineups should be submitted... and if, somehow they're not then it'll be the case for everyone.

That's such a contradiction of a post. You just highlighted out biggest challenge tomorrow which is totally outside our managers control, and said we should ditch our manager if we cant win!
It highlights the inherent weakness in an injury prone squad short on quality and depth and our failure to recruit.

Solskjaer had plenty of time to look at the players at his disposal between December last year and the end of last season. That should have been a key benefit of his appointment. Yet Fellaini was allowed to leave, I imagine with his blessing . Herrera left and wasn't replaced.

The injury issues that blight the likes of Jones, Rojo, Bailley, Shaw EVERY season were clear and obvious. Presumably he sanctioned the loan of Smalling, who had actually managed to overcome his previous injury issues and the release of Lukaku, without replacement. I need scarcely mention Sanchez, loaned after the transfer window shut because he, like the above defenders is a sicknote.

On which basis, it's reasonable to conclude that Solskjaer is, at least in part, complicit in the position he and we now find ourselves. And yes, part of the responsibility for that likely also rests with Woodward/the Glazers.

I don't expect Solskjaer will lose his job if we don't beat Sheffield United. But if we turn in a performance as dismally crap as that against Bournemouth then I expect there will be a renewed clamour/speculation for Pochetino. Whether you think that's right or wrong is, of course, up to you. But it will happen.

If the players are really behind Ole and his methods, then we will see a top effort from them tomorrow.
Poch being available puts huge pressure on Ole and the players must feel this too. If they fancied a change, then performance will reflect that I reckon.
We have enough to beat SU tomorrow.

It sounds ridiculous but it does sound likely the weak mentality many of the players have displayed over the years.

Who the hell are going to play in midfield?
    Fred and Andreas?
    Fred and Garner?
    HpLgEWz.jpg

Has anyone come up with a decent suggestion for a midfield yet??

    I'm stumped.

Tuanzebe and Fred with Pereira ahead of them.

I personally think that is the best thing we can do if we are not going to start Garner.

I wouldn't be against it. He's not an ideal option but at least he's a good player unlike some of the other options. I'd almost rather play a good player out of position than put the likes of a Matic, Mata etc in there.

It's pretty scary times to be honest. Fred and Pereira have been better and looked more confident and focused recently but I really worry about them without a proper leader in there beside them. They've both been so bloody flakey throughout their United careers so far. To be basing a midfield around them in a tough away fixture in late November worries me. I'm curious to what Ole will do with so few options.

I think the hope is that Fred is able to step up in moments like this, his form has improved and he is a fairly experienced midfielder. Whether he does it or not is a complete different story of course.

I think with both Pogba and McTominay out we will find out pretty quickly whether we are going to bring in some more midfield backup in January.

He has been good recently. Still think this will be a real test of his mettle if he has any.

Going by Ole's comments we may not be doing much this January as the players he wants will be hard to get mid-season. I think once we've gone through a busy December we'll be begging to get someone in though. Is it too wishful to think Garner might just grab it by the scruff of the neck?

And what happens if Fred gets injured today?????

Surely we simply have to bring in a couple of midfielders on loan in January. Could really do with a back-up striker too but think it's unlikely we bring anyone in.

I think Matic is ok for this game if he is fully fit. Garner on the bench to come on if Matic is struggling.

Yes, that's revisionism at its best. Everyone knows that the club needed a rebuild after Jose's tenure and the number of non-performing highly paid players we had on our rolls. Ole was clear that he wants only players at United who want to stay here and are willing to give 100% on the pitch.

Of all the players you have highlighted, the only one we should have kept is Ander - but the club didn't offer him the terms PSG did. That's definitely not on Ole. If you have a long term view on building our club - you have to make these tough choices.

You can chose to think that he is 'complicit' in the injury crisis. Or, you can chose to see that he is following a plan for the club. He needs time to build the squad, and he started that this season. If he is in the same position come next season, then he should definitely take the brunt of all the criticism.

Unfortunately, our management didn't give him enough replacements that were needed this season. We still have some major deadwood to clear from the squad - and I am hoping Ole gets enough time to do that. Young, Jones, Matic, Lingard, Rojo and Mata, are just not good enough to be a part of a title winning squad, let alone its first XI. Its to Ole's credit that none of these players are now automatic starters.

No club can go through such a massive overhaul of a first XI and expect immediate results - especially when the replacements are young players. It's not like we've gone out and bought "Galacticos" to replace the deadwood. That strategy failed spectacularly as you know.

I feel like we are going to get pumped 3 or 4 goal to nil. We barely have a midfield and with the hype building around Rashford, I am pretty sure he is going to have a stinker. And in recent years, we have failed to take advantage of a favourable situation(like jumping 5 positions in the table), so I don't think it is going to be any different. Here's hoping to an entertaining game, at least.

Same for me as I don’t know if the lineup has been submitted or not. Let’s hope it is. As it is my season has been poor.

I am having the same problem as well.

I hope Matic is not starting this game, otherwise OGS has no balls after the disrespect his shown on social media.

Anyone else having problems to submit a lineup prediction? I have chosen 11 players but I am still told to choose 11 players.

Weird I've found myself at a point where a Scott McTominay injury totally changes my feeling for a match.
Credit to him. But in a way quite damning to our midfield depth.

Tuanzebe and Fred for me, with Pereira in front of them. Lingard and Mata have just been so poor in the league that I really hope we go with a combination without them. Unfortunately I think it will be Pereira-Fred with Lingard in front.

I have a really bad feeling about this game. Desperate to get the win today but we have no midfield for fecks sake.

Sheffield have been really tough to break down.. and we are without 3 midfielders who were probably the 3 starters at the start of the season.

This will not be easy.. at all.

    Will take anything..

Would have said we need to get through to Jan and get in reinforcements, but doesnt look like Woody will deliver..

It's going to be this threadbare squad for the entire season.

Another manager getting shafted... feck woodward.

Crucial game for us if we want to fight for Europe. With some players back and after beating Brighton, we should get the win here.

2-0 for us, Martial and Rashford on the scoresheet.

So many negative comments on here. We will probably play the same team we started against Brighton, with just McTominay missing, the question is, who replaces him. Will Ole go three at the back, with Tuanzebe coming in? Will he play Garner, Matic (if fit) or Pereira alongside Fred, which would create a space at 10, which would be Mata, or possibly Gomes. Personally I would play Pereira in McTominay's place, and give Gomes the chance. Sheffield United will also be thinking, how do we combat United's front three, with the pace and ability they have, and their number one keeper is not available. The only problem I see, is the aerial threat that McBurnie (he will play some part I'm sure) poses up against Lindelof. Wilder is a very clever manager, and will always spring a surprise.

Hope we play Fred Pereira and Garner.

    Don’t want to see Matic

If matic is fit i think he will start ahead of Garner, ole mentioned sheff Utd on set plays and will want more height, however hes been out a long time so god knows.
Lack of depth in midfield is smacking us around the face..

Let's hope not. Perhaps Tuanzebe could come in alongside Fred, would prefer that to Matic, I think we need to be more dynamic, and not worry about the opposition, let them worry about our counter attacks from their set plays.

I've picked 11 starters and 3 subs on the lineup prediction game and it's asking me to pick 10 more players and if I'm sure I don't want to pick any subs. I can tick 21 players to start if I want...!

There should really be 3 match threads:
    • pre-match thread
    • match thread itself beginning at kickoff and ending with final whistle
    • post-match thread
Whining before a match is a downer.
