Oyarzabal is a very bright young talent who was targeted by City before they signed Torres. Will probably still end up there someday, and should cause AWB some problems tonight.

I hope we are not going to get beaten by a team of players no one has ever heard of, except that guy who used to play for us.

    Illarramendi - Real Madrid
    Nacho Monreal - Arsenal
    David Silva - City
    Alexander Isak - Dortmund

Even Mikel Oyarzabal and Mikel Merino are well known. Fair to say your football knowledge isn't the best.

David Silva? Nacho Monreal? They probably havent heard of half or our players either I suspect there's sociedad fans asking who is Daniel james right now.

Ah the McFred midfield and no rest for Bruno, Matic and Mata exist for this type of game, strange logic from Ole, I also wish Diallo was starting over James, I guess Marcus is at #9 which is his weakest position imo.

Perfect game for McFred. These guys are no mugs. There as good a side on paper as the likes of Everton, maybe Leicester.

5 players off what would normally be Ole's first choice 11. Two of that 5 are injured (Pogba, Cavani) while DeGea, Lindelof, Shaw are replaced by Henderson, Bailly and Telles.

Hopefully a decent result tonight and I'd see a score draw as a decent result to bring back to Old Trafford

Surely we’d want our midfielders in there who are a bit better on the ball? Maybe Matic for one of the two?

Like the look of that lineup. The two goalies thing is weird, I suppose as someone mentioned above it's a bubble issue.

This'll be a tough game I reckon. Sociedad have a good side and are performing very well in the league this year.

Also, am I the only one who hears Moyes' voice on repeat everytime I see Illarmendi on a team sheet? Iiiii-llll-ar-a-men-deeee

Stop trying to big up Sociedad wil you. One played for Madrid 10 years ago the other was always on loan from Dortmunt and the other two are both 35 year olds.

If they play how I expect them to play, it would be the type of game that could potentially pass Matic by.

The Fred-fanclub already preparing their defense of his inevitable Fred-like performance today.

will be waiting to see his pass completion stats after the match. That’s what they usually use to try and prove how well he’s done.

Absolutely no need for that strong of a line up in a competition that we don't even want to be in. Bruno needs a rest and this should have been an oppurtunity for some other players to get a run out.

I mean, most of us who watch more than 1 game a week will have heard of pretty much every player in their side.

Good lineup overall but Bissaka is being run into the ground.
Good to see Mata back in the squad though his absence was never fully explained. Ole just said he's back after being away a few weeks or something like that.
I think he was given leave to get his next club sorted out.

Stop posting bollocks will you. I was responding to the claim that they're a "team of players no one has ever heard of". Being 35 years old doesn't mean no one has heard of you.

You should have text Ole, told him to play the kids, because we don't want to be in this competition...

    Great opportunity for silverware this.

    Says who ?
100% disagree, Winning the EL is more than possible, stong team every game is a must from now on, CL is by no means a given in the PL.

As long as that's Greenwood up front and we see the youngsters on as subs then fine.

We can't moan about tiredness though when we're insistent on running some of the lads into the ground.

I wouldn't be so bothered if it didn't mean a more favourable draw in next season's champions league

I can only suggest you go and watch something else.

Looking forward to this contest-- Haven't missed a match in 16 years. Just tired of seeing the "Fred is the most underrated player in England" thread pop up at the top of the top of the homepage after every average performance.

It's always the pass completion statistics... Maguire completes probably as many passes as anyone, we should try him in the midfield by their logic.

Definitely worried about Isak. Bailly will have a job keeping up with him, he's very quick and strong, hasn't scored in the EL this season, however. 9 league goals in 19 games is a decent return, he won't be with Sociedad next season most likely.

Positives - huge opportunity for Bailly and Henderson to stake a claim for being the ones who should be lining up for us for the rest of the season. And no Martial. Of course sods law we should expect a Henderson clanger and Bailly to be injured in the 8th minute.

Negatives - McFred and Maguire and the inevitable paralysing fear of playing it forward, and the fact we always do so shit against Spanish sides.
