That is a UK based bookie. You get very different odds elsewhere.

I was relaxed and confident for the West Brom game, so forgive me for my negativity.

I can see this going one of two ways, we'll lose in a tight game where we look toothless. Or we'll win even though we spend most of the match looking second best.

    Hope Amad plays though!

Absolute state of these results :wenger:

Instead a top club should injure and fatigue our most important players like Bruno by playing 9 additional Mickey Mouse Thursday nights while we're trying to stay in top4!
Instead a top club should be looking to win every trophy they possibly can...if they don't then they are not a 'top' club, just merely there to make up the numbers...

    Reckon it'll be this me
    Henderson

    AWB Bailly Maguire Telles

    Fred Matic

    Mata Bruno Rashford

    Greenwood

Is there a leaked line up. Just seen on twitter its

    Amad Bruno Rashford

    Greenwood

It's not 1995 anymore mate - all bookies use the exchanges to form the price. Broadly the same odds everywhere.

Doubt that’s true but I wouldn’t mind something a bit different, because let’s face it other front line ups ain’t working at the moment.

Yeah not having that ole will start amad over mata in europe.

    4 wins in 26.

0 wins in our last 10 games.

We are abysmal against Spanish sides. This is going to be painful, painful viewing.

Agreed. Even if it is a shite record we are not very good lately so cant see anything other than a pasting

I hope that’s not the real line up. I would love to see Diallo start but there’s no reason both Bruno and Rashford should be starting, rest one of them at least if not both.
Chelsea and City in a row after the 2nd leg. Better to get the tie in the bag tonight. Plus the Chelsea game is 3 days after it

But why are we so shite against them? This is over five different managers, against some very different teams - Guardiola's Barcelona have little in common with last season's Sevilla -, with hugely different United squads. Is it some curse? Are United players taught to be terrified of anyone with a Spanish-sounding name?

(or is it that none of our managers bar Van Gaal placed enough emphasis on ball retention, something that Spanish sides generally excel at?)

    Same

Listening to the UtdHour pod and hearing who I think is @Rood (or the chap from yorkshire voices are pretty much the same) said he wants the reserves in, but I think it's way more important than that.

It's a European competition and is the 3rd most prestigious trophy for British clubs behind Champions League and the Premiership. It is a guaranteed Champions League place , another trophy in the museum, more global success and an actual tangible for the end of the season vs finishing 4th/3rd/2nd and getting nothing from it.

We need silverware and not just another Champions League place, as we've shown over the past few years we don't have the team to do anything substantial against Europe's best

Yes it was me on the podcast (Manc and Yorkshire accents are not the same!) and I would play a full 2nd string if it was upto me - to win this there are 9 games to play with extra travel, associated COVID risks and the crappy Thursday night schedule. If we go far it will undoubtedly affect our league form as our squad is not ready to fight on 3 fronts yet, we have already seen 2 bad performances straight after FA Cup wins and I dont think thats a coincidence

I think Ole will rotate but go stronger than I would

Hes got to make at least 6 changes, we should try in this competition, that's a given and a decent side should be picked. But for me it's no big deal if we dont progress from this tie. Although I want us to, were UTD and should go for everything were in. The dissatisfaction of not progressing in CL group sours this competition.

But something tells me Ole will go pretty strong?

I’d definitely place it above the FA Cup in terms of priority as well because like you say, it’s more than a trophy - it’s a trophy and 4th place in one.

But I think a basic principle at United is to compete for every trophy within our grasp. Seeing competitions as beneath us is something reserved for fans I think - a professional player wants to win anything and everything they can get their hands on. And our players need to practice the mindset required to do that.

Also there’s a practical element to taking tonight seriously and playing a strong team - if we blow Sociedad out of the water it means we can rest key players next week in the reverse leg before the Chelsea game.

Chelsea, conversely, have to play Atletico midweek in Romania; a physically gruelling experience regardless of the result.

If we rest players tonight and then have to overturn a result next week Ole will undoubtedly have to play our strongest XI and it will be a slog - 3 days before we play Chelsea.

Only reason I would place it above the FA Cup as it also offers a route straight into pot 1 of the Champions League draw, therefore you avoid the holders and various league winners too.

How is Mejbri's shoulder? Is he injured? Asking as I see two GKs on the bench + Shoretire.

Hoping that's Greenwood up top and Rashford on the left, with James on the right. Good lineup though. Wouldve guessed Matic in and maybe Mata, but no real surprises.

Could easily lose tonight but is anyone really that bothered? We really need to get the league form back on track.

i couldn’t give a monkeys about the EL either. I’d much rather we played the kids than watch our best team struggle to a semi final or lose in the final again. Ole will play the strongest team and these lads tonight are going to do us
