I think that we will win this. We are ahead of them in preparations and we will want this more.

On the other side, Ronaldo might just decide to score a hattrick at any time.

Blind is perfect as a center back in a back 3 IMO. Nothing wrong with him there. The only problem is of course Darmian who doesn't offer much going forward, which is a big part of the reason why we've been going for Perisic. No matter if we use a 3 at the back formation or a 4 at the back formation, our left back/wing back will be the weak point. It's just cause a lack of options.

To clarify i meant that using Darmian render Blind useless. Blind is a good passer on the ball. He needs a very good and pacy physical player on his left side. I reckon Blind would be very good with Valencia in front of him. A shame both are antidextrous

Darmian and Blind don't compliment eachother. At all. We'll figure that out the hard way at some point.
Perisic i know nothing about, other than watching a few youtube compilations. Wouldn't know anything about his ability as wing back.

Also: bolded part? Perfect CB in a back three is a bit of a stretch, yes?

    Ronaldo's not playing.

    ----------------- DDG ---------------
    Valencia - Smalling - Lindelöf - Darmian
    --------------- Matic ---------------
    ---------- Herrera - Pogba ----------
    ------- Micky - Lukaku - Martial -----

Micky looks hungry and Martial is our best left-winger. Neither Darmian nor Blind are great LBs, but my gut-feeling say we should go for the former. The rest of the team are no-brainers.

When you start making the predictions then you understand how big a squad we have. Even with 2 suspended and 3/4 injured, there are still 3(4) players who won't even make the bench.

3 at the back might be hard in this game since we have so many CBs out. Smalling and Lindelof might be good (Smalling can deal with Benzema and Lindelof will be the spare man) but i'm not sure about Blind up against Bale (assuming he will be playing alongside Benzema). Maybe Mourinho will play Tuanzebe and he can do a job on Bale like he did on Sanchez.

If Lingard is fit i'd bring him in over Darmian. And Herrera would start over Pereira. Here's how I'd line up:

    DDG
    Smalling Lindelof Tuanzebe
    Matic
    Valencia Herrera Pogba Lingard
    Mkhitaryan
    Lukaku

    -------------------De Gea-----------------
    Valencia - Lindelof - Smalling - Darmian
    ------------------Matic-------------------
    ------------Herrera - Pogba--------------
    Mata --------- Lukaku----------- Martial

Jose never lost the cup final?I hope the record stays intact.
    2-1 to United.
    He did, twice I think.

First time in many years I feel relatively comfortable we can walk away with the w against Real. Hopefully we can show the world we re the team of the future and Real is on the decline. I'm a bit worried that bc of Real s likely lesser fitness at this stage that it ll become a drop on the floor contest however.

Blind is perfect as a center back in a back 3 IMO. Nothing wrong with him there.
What if he's up against someone with pace, like Bale or Asensio? I feel we might need someone speedier in there.

Ronaldo and Bale look like they're not featuring. 1-0 United. Matic from a corner.

    Early Predicted Lineup:

    de Gea
    Lindelof Smalling Darmian
    Valencia Herrera Matic Pogba Lingard
    Lukaku Rashford

    Bench:
Romero, Blind, Tuanzebe, Carrick, Fellaini, Mkhitaryan, Martial

    Predicted Score:
Real Madrid 2-3 Man Utd (Lukaku, Martial X2)

    ----------------- DDG ---------------

    --------------- Matic ---------------

Like the look of this one.

Jose will be desperate to grab a win, and my guess is he'll be happy to let Madrid have the ball. I'll be quite surprised if Martial starts.

    My guess is:

    ----------Mkhitaryan-Lukaku----------
    ----------Pogba------Herrera----------
    Darmian-------Matic----------Valencia
    ------Jones----Smalling----Bailly------
    ----------------De Gea-----------------

though I could also see Lingard playing at LWB.

If we play 4 at the back, bench a CB, start Blind or Darmian at LB and either Lingard or Mkhitaryan at LW and Mata or Rashford at RW.

Jones and Bailly are both suspended. We'll be forced to play two CB's unless Jose wants to use Blind/Tuanzebe.

Is this only on BT Sport in the UK? No free to air stuff going down?

Bale played last night (I thought he was injured?) so I guess he'll play next week

40 degree heat supposedly. Can see it being a really crap game.

What a glamorous match. I don't think it gets any higher profile than this.

    De Gea
    Valencia----Lindelof-----Smalling----Darmian
    ---Magic---
    --Herrera----Pogba--
    -Mkhitaryan--------Lukaku-----------Martial---

@Niall can you add Andreas to the line-up predictor game please?

I'd be fine with either. Blind might struggle against Bale's pace, but I think we'll defend pretty deep so not as big a deal, and if Isco plays he's coming inside anyways. Tuanzebe I could see too. He's obviously athletic enough to be a good option against Bale.

    De Gea
    Valencia----Lindelof-----Smalling----Darmian
    ---Magic---
    --Herrera----Pogba--
    -Mkhitaryan--------Lukaku-----------Martial---
This is my predicted line-up as well. Rashford and Fellaini (and possibly TFM) to come on from the bench.

Has it been confirmed Ronaldo is out? It is a cup final after all and he's had plenty of rest since the Confed. Cup. IIRC La Liga starts a week later than the PL so he has plenty of time to recover before the first fixtures.

    De Gea
    Smalling Lindelof Blind
    Matic
    Valencia Herrera Pogba Darmian
    Mkhitaryan
    Lukaku

Our defence scares me. Playing with 3 CBs and I feel like any one of them can screw up and cost us a goal (or a chance for a magnificent DDG save) at any time. That said, every player in front of them turns me on. Excited for this, and the whole damn season.

Expecting both teams to talk this very seriously. Jose would love to win this 100%

My head says Madrid to win but I really hope we give them a game for it
