Hasn't he played about two games since he came back from injury and before that had loads of goals and assists?

Much better second half, change of formation worked, as did Fellaini and Wilson coming on so credit to LVG for those changes.
Hopefully LVG will now realise that DiMaria does not play as a striker. Credit to him for changing things though.

Not really, his start was impressive but slowly and slowly he got worse then he got injured.

And the moral of the story is: we live to fight another day. I hope LvG noticed something, then it'll be a proper win.

Great way to finish the game. Very nice counter attack move. Second half was obviously better, especially after the move away from the back 3. Surprise Surprise. Not sure how Falcao has come out of that game having not scored. De Gea does us proud once again.

The team will gel before end of season. We are already not conceeding as easily as last season. The rest will come naturally.

The team would have long gelled without football manager skills from Mr Gaal

I hope LVG doesn't think 3 pts affords him more time and chances to experiment with shit tactics.

I've never seen Robben playing in that position for Holland.

Rooney playing in midfield when there's a midfielder playing as a striker is a bit fooking stupid to be fair, especially when both of them have been absolute dung.

As in have him playing the same role as Robben does for Bayern, I don't think he's actually trying to turn us into the Netherlands.

Who gives a feck about Di Maria though when you've got a human microphone and James Wilson providing the goods.

Hopefully LVG will now realise that DiMaria does not play as a striker. Credit to him for changing things though.
I mean, Robben was one of the best players in the World Cup playing as a striker so it's not completely mad to think Di Maria could play a similar role. I don't think he should play there but he's not in great form and is just coming back from injury so those factors emphasise that it's an unfamiliar role for him.

Rooney, Di Maria, Falcao well underwhelming. Fellaini, Wilson, De Gea contenders for MoTM. My vote goes to Fellaini for changing the dynamic in our midfield and winning us the game. De Gea close 2nd with 3 match winning saves. Overall, happy with the points, yet again disappointed with our football.

Dire tactics, but a job done.

James looked vastly better than Radamel, who worked hard but just couldn't pull it together.

Because 'My captain SHALL always play'
C'mon guys, Rooney plays when fit … always. Much better than RvP as Captain IMHO! He's not exactly being used in his optimum position. We need to agree on what the problem is and I don't think it's that we don't have the talent … it's how it's being used. SAF can't say anything, LvG goes against the press if he gets a whiff of dissent … think it's up to Giggs to speak up!
    EDIT: damn double negatives

Falcao and Wilson look to be a partnership that is worth a persevering with, Fellaini added some steel to the midfield and Di Maria looks a different player coming from deep. Good result.

He probably just forgot what a chance looked like since it had been so long since we created any. Give him another match with those looks and he scores.

I like Falcao and want him do well for us. But my patience is running thin. You need to be ruthless in front of goal. His acceleration and agaility isn't quite there. His first touch in this game was an improvement. I hope he goes on a goal scoring run for the rest of the season but i hope we don't buy him.

Yeah, im not happy with that. Was probably our worst player today.
No way was he worse than our stupid defenders who have about 4 brain cells between the lot of them (except for Blind). He didn't have a good game though, even though he managed to get that very good ball to Valencia before the goal.

Thought Carrick kept our play ticking and was our best player in first half

3-5-2 is not a bad system but we simply dont have the players for it. We need to go 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 diamond

Blind is wasted as a LWB needs to play in the centre

We'll have to buy another striker or two then because LVG doesn't see Rooney as one and RVP looks in decline. If Falcao keeps playing like he did today (and we stop the 352 crap), he will score goals and we should keep him.

LvG on #MUFC: "I have seen a team that is fighting and struggling. Because of that I changed the shape and we played better in 2nd half."

Yeah, im not happy with that. [Rooney] Was probably our worst player today.

He was being played out of position.
Try playing Costa, Aguero, Sanchez, Kane - all in midfield, then lets see how many goals these guys score.

Here is why LvG is still persisting with the 3-5-2 formation

Van Gaal: 'I know in advance when we play with four midfielders in a diamond we create more chances. But the balance of the team is weak.'

Wilson: "I am an instinct finisher. Anything that drops to me, I will try and put away." #MUFC

    Good to hear.
Unfortunately the rest of the team believe, "Anything that drops to me, I will pass backwards, as it is safer and allows us to maintain aimless possession." :p
