    I expect Herrera to come on and Blind to go off. Shift back to the diamond with Carrick sitting deep. Di Maria in midfield and Rooney as striker.

    Rooney has been as bad as the others.

    Seriously though, that was dreadful. We seriously need an improvement in the second half.
     
    I don't know what to say anymore. We just have to endure this, nothing we can do about it.
     
    Poor half from us. Defenders have as usual made mistakes to create chances for the other team, and up front we are making no real chances. All this possessions means nothing if every time we get near their box we decide to turn around and just play it backwards.

    Would really like us to go to a flat four at the back. Regardless of if we change formation, Di Maria needs to be played deeper. Just swap him with Rooney or even Mata. He is about the only player we have on the park who can actually run at defenders and make something happen that way, yet we play him where it is basically impossible for him to actually do that.

    You might, but there also level-headed people amongst you who thankfully aren't quite so short-sighted.
     
    If LVG won't drop 352 then we need to drop him. Our team is so much better than what we are showing. Can't blame the fans in the ground for shouting "442" and "attack, attack, attack". The team is playing so poorly it's hard to believe we spent 150m on new players last summer.

    We shouldn't make the same mistake as last season and wait until the season is over to sack the manager. We need to find a manager willing to embrace the Manchester United way.
     
    I'm a LVG supporter, but this is starting to really test it. Possession is all very well, but without doing anything with it it's pointless. I'm beginning to think LVG just doesn't 'get' the premier league yet. Surely Giggs can see that this formation isn't working....or that Rooney is better up front. I mean he's said it himself before...

    We will not rediscover the good form playing a formation that clearly doesn't work, and making it worse by playing players completely out of position.
     
    This 352 rubbish is starting to make feel the way i did watching us under Moyes. LVG needs to snap out of it.
     
    Evans and Jones are comical, they touch the ball like it has leprosy, and unfortunately Rooney is out of sorts today. Neither Blind or Valencia are having any impact out wide. We've had the odd positive moment from Falcao, Mata and Di Maria, but it's been few and far between after another ponderous half of shite, slow passing.
     
    On the positive note - I've heard that Leiceter vs Stoke has been crappier than this. :D
     
    I am beyond caring about the scoreline. I just want to see United play football again.

    This is dismal, and I can't blame the players.
     
    Van Gaal is getting a free ride because of his name. If this were any other manager people would be howling for his head.
     
    Cleverley must be watching this and wondering why he was shipped out on loan, he would have excelled in this system or philosophy or whatever, the crab philosophy

    AND "to be fair" if we seriously expect to be in the CL positions at the end of the season we have to start playing our players where they are best. I felt sorry for LvG during the injury crisis but he has no excuse now … this is just stubborn idocy!

    Bloody hell why are we making things so hard for ourselves? Just switch Rooney and DiMaria. Can't the other coaches point this out to LVG???? If we lose today we may as well just order Sir Alex out of retirement - he'd be rubbing his hands with attacking players we have in the squad. This is so frustrating!
     
    No point in trying to predict diamond lineups. 352 forever (until he get's the sack). C'mon Louie.. You're better than this! Fecking just play the players in their right positions and don't have fecking Jones taking corners?
     
    I had so much hope at the start of the season. More than halfway through the season and I am losing faith rapidly in LVG and his philosophy. He continues to stubbornly play players out of position and stick with this 3-5-2 which has rarely worked well for us. If not for DDG, yet again, we are losing. Sad state of affairs. Falcao can't win a foot race against Dunne. ADM looks hopelessly lost and weak as a striker. Noone can pass. Noone can take a man on. Half of our team is unwilling to put in hard challenges for fear of scuffing their boots. Starting to feel a lot like last season for me. Most of our top 4 rivals are getting results today and we look more likely to lose. All of this after spending more money than many PM clubs are probably worth. Unbelievable stuff.
     
    Hopefully LVG will have us forgetting about what we saw in the first half.

    Diamond would mean 4 at the back?
    So, I doubt this would happen.
    We play 352 - this is our preferred formation and is that which our players have been training for, for the last few months.
     
    I am starting to think LVG is genuinely just trying to troll us. If so, he is doing a very good job of it.

    It all makes sense - he starting playing Fellaini instead of Herrera because he knew it would get on the fans nerves, but then Fellaini actually started doing well so LVG had to drop him. He couldnt play Herrera because that would be deemed sensible by the fans, so he puts bloody Rooney into midfield whilst moving the £60m midfielder into attack.

    Well played LVG, well played indeed.
     
    The rot started when Moyes caved into Rooney's ego. In many ways we are Rooney-FC (not to blame him, it of course is the manager's decision). Rooney has to be on the ball all the time with di Maria up front. Makes no sense.

    Agreed.

    other teams are playing likes of Modric, Xavi, Fabregas, Pogba, Pirlo, Xabi Alonso, etc in midfield and United is playing Rooney.

    Doesn't make sense.
     
    Honeymoon period is over.. LVG is going to be facing a Shitstorm, if we don't manage to win today...
