I think there is a good chance for a formation change in this game.

    -----------DeGea------------
    Rafael-Smalling-Rojo-Shaw
    ----Fellaini-Blind-DiMaria---
    -----------Herrera-----------
    ----Falcao--------Rooney---

    Or

    ------------DeGea-----------
    Rafael-Smalling-Rojo-Shaw
    --------Fellaini-Blind--------
    DiMaria----Mata----Januzaj
    -----------Rooney-----------

    3-1 to United.

with that side what could possibly go wrong!!

LVG will have a word with himself and play either

    -------------==---De Gea--------------------
    Rafael-------Jones----Smalling--------Shaw
    -------------Carrick-----Blind-----------------
    Januzaj-----------Rooney------------Di Maria
    ---------------------Falcao---------------------

    or

    -------------==---De Gea--------------------
    Rafael-------Jones----Smalling--------Shaw
    ---------------------Carrick--------------------
    ------------Herrera---------Di Maria----------
    ---------------------Rooney---------------------
    -----------Adnan-------------Falcao------------

I'd play the 4-2-3-1 myself....quicker, more solid with Carrick and Blind and width

i hope he goes to back four again, but cant see Adnan playing respectively van Persie getting dropped.

They're home record is very good. Drew with City, and really should have got a draw with Liverpool. Sod performance. I just hope we nick a win at any rate.

    ---------De Gea---------
    Valencia Mcnair Jones Shaw
    -----------Blind----------
    ----Herrera---Di Maria----
    ----------Mata-----------
    -----Rooney---Falcao-----

Hopefully we win 3-1. Just attack and stop with this aimless passing shit. Hopefully a flat back 4 helps.

    De Gea

    Rafael - Jones - Smalling - Shaw

    Blind

    Fellaini - Ander

    di Maria

    Rooney - van Persie

Doubt Persie will be ready for this one since he went out with an ankle/foot injury. That will hopefully make space at top for Falcao again, together with Rooney. Other than that, pretty good. Would maybe play Carrick instead of Blind though.

    De Gea
    Rafael--Jones--Smalling--Shaw
    Carrick--Herrera--Blind
    Di Maria
    Rooney--Falcao

    or

    De Gea
    Rafael--Jones--Smalling--Shaw
    Carrick--Blind
    Januzaj--Rooney--Di Maria
    Falcao

Anything but the 3-5-2 otherwise a draw and a lethargic performance awaits us.

This is what I would like to see.
    DDG
    Rafael Smalling Jones Shaw
    Blind / Carrick
    Fellaini--------- Herrera
    Rooney RVP
This is what it will probably be
    DDG
    Jones Smalling Blackett
    Valencia----- Carrick------ Shaw
    Rooney Mata
    Di Maria ----RVP

If we do start with the 3 at the back here, I will seriously worry for our top 4 chances. Something I haven't felt this season but we just can't continue with it.

We smashed QPR with 4 at the back, if van Gaal doesn't see it, I will have my first serious concerns of the season.

I didn't know he was injured though.

Why does so many want to drop Mata instead of Rooney when Mata has been better than Rooney in our last games?

We know its going to be 352.
My gut tell me - easy win.
But if we use statistics (past performance) to predict the result: DRAW...we always draw away!

Perfect opportunity to prove the 3-5-2 can work.

Formation should change (but probably won't), and some players need to be dropped. I would be playing a back four and trust Valencia as the RB. Fellaini in for Carrick to give him a rest. Play Blind at the base of the diamond. Di Maria to LCM. Mata at the tip. Rooney and RvP/Falcao up front depending on fitness.

Perfect opportunity to prove the 3-5-2 can work.
Which worries me more than a loss.

I'd much sooner take a 0-5 hiding if it meant it's the last we see of the 3-5-2. Because what I think will happen is we'll play 3 at the back, roll QPR over 0-3 or some such and it will give LvG the perfect excuse to bend the narrative and think the 3-5-2 works. Only for us to get proper trashed at the first sign of good opposition.

We ll have all our best players back and then we will play a 3-5-2 with Rooney in defensive midfield and Wilson and Di Maria upfront.. I will say a 1-1 draw..

Would like to see something like:

    DDG
    Rafael - Smalling - Rojo - Shaw
    Herrera - Carrick - Blind
    Mata - Di Maria
    Rooney
No chance of it actually happening though.

No way LvG will play 4 at back.. Defenders will rot on bench if needed, but even for 5 minutes we will not allow 4 at the back. Thats the philosphy...

we have played four at the back this year. When was the last time we played four at the back? everton at home?

    Hope to see :

Are we going to have a poll for how long Shaw actually stays on the pitch.

I think he is. That does not mean he will.
If, and i hope not, we are going to sub him and i want either Rojo in and Blind out as a LWB.
Or if we against alla odds go with four at the back, sub him for another midfielder and also push Blind to LB.

I dont understand how both Di Maria and Shaw needs "match rythm", as stated after the match, and therefor subbed, but Blind does not even not been playing for months.

Just trust me on this van Gaal....

    DDG
    RAFAEL---------JONES--------ROJO--------SHAW
    BLIND
    HERRERA-----------------DI MARIA
    ROONEY
    VAN PERSIE-------FALCAO
    Instructions:

    Standard mentality, fluid formation
    • Play short passes
    • Use a higher tempo
    • Make use of overlaps
    • Run at defense
    • Play out of defense
    • Pass into space
    • Push higher up
    • Close down more often
    • Exploit the middle
    • Play wider

You know nothing about the philosophy.. It is the philosophy which is important and not the team or fans..

Blind did not have match rythm.. But LvG did not have many choices... Not my words.. LvG said so :)

This is the type of games we have been most horrible in all season. With that say it has to end at some point although I would not bet against a draw which seem most likely. Hopefully we can have some luck like Southampton away and get the 3 point.

    Hope to see :
    ---------------DeGea-------------
    Rafael---Smalling--Rojo---Shaw
    -------------Blind---------------
    ------Herrera---Di Maria--------

Laughed at the last one. Yes really horrible like we have 2 sides of the team and nothing connecting it. I thought Van Gaal could do that, but I start to think the only reason he has had sucess before is that he have been lucky to have super players. Barce, Bayern have all gotten much better after he was sacked. The Ajax one was good, but that is really the only really big thing. He was lucky to have super players like Seedorf and Van der Sar there too I guess even if I didn't follow back then.

Bored with the 352, I hate this system. Back to a 4-1-4-1 when we had some good football this year, and created some chances. Back to a natural line up, balanced, with players playing in their own positions. To real full back, two wingers, Rooney up top, Fellaini and Herrera in 8. We’ll probably not contolling the game, the tempo with this formation, as neither Herrera and Fellaini are ball keepers but more players able to break lines with their runs, the same for Valencia/Rafa and Di Maria/Shaw. Even if I would be bad, I would bench Rooney, because of his poor performances of late

    ----------------------------------------De Gea---------------------------------------------

    Rafael--------------------Smalling-----------------Rojo---------------------------Shaw

    -------------------------------------Carrick/Blind------------------------------------------

    Valencia------------------Herrera----------------Fellaini-----------------------Di Maria

    But LVG will go with

    ----------------------------------------De Gea---------------------------------------------

    -----------------Jones----------------Smalling-----------------Rojo--------------------

    Rafael/Valencia-----------------Carrick/Blind-------------------------Shaw/Blind

    ---------------------------Fellaini---------------------Mata-------------------------------

    -------------------------------------Rooney---Di Maria----------------------------------
