Just keep the squad ticking over for Lyon. They should be knackered after the fa cup son for once we come into a game fresher. 1-2 win
Ah, fair enough…I hadn’t factored in Ugarte’s travel; plus as you say, Casemiro has improved recently. No, but Amorim seems to be rating Casemiro a bit higher than he used to; he said something along the lines of "Now we've learned how to use him." Plus, Ugarte has been away on international duty with Uruguay. Just a feeling I have, that Casemiro might be a surprise inclusion for this game, though I'm sure Ugarte will be the first choice more often than not for the rest of the season.
True. We've got City and Newcastle games between and around Lyon tie but those 2 games won't matter much either. Think they'll be more of a chance to give minutes to Mount, Shaw and others coming back. All that matters right now is preparing for Lyon.
I think this game is a good chance to prepare for Lyon with our strongest line up.All that matters right now is preparing for Lyon.

Some of our players will have had reasonable rest or additional time to recover from injury (Mount, Maguire, Yoro). We don't play Lyon until April 10th - we could make some changes against City and Newcastle as we most likely struggle to win those matches even if at full strength. Hopefully, we can be competitive in all of these games, but I'd be happy for us to make some changes if it means we can have the most important players fit for the Lyon games.
However, I highly doubt Ruben will want us to go too under-strength into either of those games (Man City especially). It's also incredibly important to build momentum. We're on arguably our best run in potentially over a year?
It is a tough one to balance and I hope Ruben gets it right. But yeah, I think the likes of Mount, Maguire, Yoro, Mainoo, Eriksen, Casemiro, Lindelof, Collyer, Zirkzee etc should be getting some time on the pitch in the upcoming PL games (Forest, City, Newcastle, Wolves).
For Lyon (and Forest) the players I anticipate to be the main ones for selection are: Onana, Mazraoui, De Ligt, Yoro, Dalot, Dorgu, Bruno, Ugarte, Garnacho, Hojlund - with the other place being from Casemiro/Zirkzee/Eriksen and potentially Maguire/Lindelof if Yoro/Heaven aren't fit.
Man I've only just noticed how thick and fast the next 6 games are coming up for us. 6 games in 18 days is mental at this stage of the season.
Absolutely. From Ruben's presser though, it looks like Maguire and Yoro should both be in the squad tonight at least! Much needed boost to have defenders available. Maybe one of them will start, but he could stick with Lindelof, De Ligt, and Mazraoui. Mount should also be on the bench at least. I don't expect many other players back in time for the first Lyon game, bar maybe Mainoo. He was back in individual, on-grass training this week so he may return to full training soon. Heaven, Shaw, and Bayindir are also expected to return this month if all goes well (Bayindir potentially tonight as well, although that hopefully shouldn't matter massively). As far as who’s on the cusp of full fitness in time for Lyon, who knows? Get the man some minutes for Forest. Just make sure we don’t overwork anyone who we need to be at peak Lyon. I trust Ruben to get it right. If getting it right means beating the shit out of Forest, please proceed. If getting it right means lying down for Forest and even City, fine by me.
this game would show why Hojlund should aspire to be at Elanga’s level
Sorry guys, I’m rooting for Nuno here.
Nah Nuno has a champions league medal.Bruno > Nuno
Onana
Mazraoui - de Ligt - Yoro
Dalot - Ugarte - Bruno - Dorgu
Garnacho - Zirkzee
Hojlund
Forest countering with pace is surely why you wouldn't play Maguire?I'd start Maguire as I think he will be eager to win back his NT place and Yoro is still young and Forest counter with quite the ability of pace & strength, agree that the rest of the team will be what he will chose.

Normally I'd agree but I think positionally he is a bit smarter
You know, Hojlund, the right winger who plays for us? I couldn't think of two more similar profiles than Elanga and Hojlund, they're even from neighbouring Scandinavian countries. Might as well be twins.random and odd comment
Well the break away from watching United play was nice. Back into the thick of it again now as tonight the first of seven games alone this month and hopefully the players are re energized and ready to go.
Forest are unbeaten in eight at the City Ground in the league and only Arsenal and Liverpool have a better home record than Forest this season.
Teams who have taken points off them in the City Ground in the Premier league this season.
Bournemouth 1-1 in August
Wolves 1-1 in August
Fulham 1-0 winners in September
Newcastle 3-1 winners in November
Liverpool 1-1 in January
Arsenal 0-0 in February

Can’t really have Maguire and de ligt in the same team for this one. Need pace on the wide centre backs. They’ll have Elanga and gibbs white.I'd start Maguire as I think he will be eager to win back his NT place and Yoro is still young and Forest counter with quite the ability of pace & strength, agree that the rest of the team will be what he will chose.
They will probably make me eat my words but I somehow still don't rate them. How good can Elanga, Wood and Gibbs-White really be? Is Wood fit for this one? They beat us at home but really the scoreline flattered them quite a bit.

Their stats aren't exactly elite - xgD/90 has them 9th in the table. Their form is also not particularly great and they're coming off of a 120 min fixture against Brighton. It will be a Nuno at Wolves type bore fest - they will clog up the middle and make it really hard to get the attack going but I'd back us to win if we get the first goal.
I'm more worried about facing a Bournemouth or Fulham or Palace or a Brighton than facing Forest despite the relative positions of the sides in the table.
I'd throw their own book at them - be compact, play on the transition (would be good practice for the next few games)

As for tonight, I'd go with:
Onana
Mazraoui De Ligt Yoro*
Dalot Casemiro Ugarte Dorgu
Bruno Garnacho
Hojlund
*Maybe Maguire or Lindelof if Yoro isn't fully ready to start.
I could also see Ruben alternating Ugarte/Casemiro over the Premier League games with the view of potentially playing both in the Lyon away tie and starting Zirkzee/Eriksen with Bruno in midfield.
For subs I would like to see Mount, a CB, Zirkzee/Eriksen if they don't start, and maybe Collyer if there's the opportunity to do so.
