Discussion Your Lineup Prediction

  • The time has come in my life where I dread United visiting Nottingham Forest in a premier league game... Also a time where I'm hoping a fledgling 18 year old defender will overcome a nasty injury to save our defence... Sigh.

Dread aside, this international break either gives our boys a chance to let the tactics and behaviorisms sink in subconsciously - that old brain break theory - and help the them play more naturally or they outright start thinking too much as they've done before and we fold.

Just need the boys to lock in mentally on training through these games to go all the way in Europa.

Chris Wood is out for them for their game on Saturday.

Hopefully he's not available for our game either.

Grim that. Football is back this weekend, and we don't get to play until Tuesday. Worst international break ever, as there has been literally nothing sportwise worth watching in the entire international break.

If we hadn't blow it against Fulham at OT we would've had a game this weekend.

Need to come out swinging, grab an early goal and dont let them breathe. They are quick to the punch and if we go down early we’ll be in for a long day.

We've had some good results (against some poor sides) without actually playing all that well, while Forest are on a good run of form and full of confidence. Plus Elanga and the inevitable curse of the ex... I think they'll hammer us, going to guess at 4-1

Not sure where to post this, but probably good enough here.

    Fantastic news imo, specially Yoro.

Mainoo was also expected to be back, but could not see him in the training videos. Any update on him. Was hoping he would be back aswell with the group.

Well, the players got a much-needed rest.

seems stupid as hell to have it on tuesday after international break but whatever. Least anyone who was out on duty has had plenty of time to integrate back in. At this point who knows what to expect.

Watch shaw get Injured again in training even before the first match back on Tuesday.

Surely this is his and Mounts last chance to be taken any seriously regarding a squad role.

Great news about GKs as well. Bayindir could still be important in Europa League.

Mainoo not ready for Forest but hopefully is close.

Forest play an FA Cup quarter final against Brighton today, that could potentially go into extra time, and have just 2 days rest before our game. Should be a big advantage.

This will be a good test of where we're at. Forest are the type of team we struggle against, they sit deep and have players who can hurt you in transition.

We'll be expected to have most of the ball, can we create chances and break them down, whilst avoiding the dangerous fast breaks?

If Maguire is fit I'd expect him to start this one. Forest seem to be good at set pieces (Milenković scored 4-5 goals this season, one was at Old Trafford).

Hopefully Forest players will be tired from the Fa Cup game but expect them to beat us. This and Newcastle away feel like defeats.

This might be one of the few matches in PL I'd actually want Maguire to play, because NFO are so direct. They love playing long ball up to Wood/Awoniyi. So Maguire might thrive.

If Wood will play...big difference between him and Awoniyi

Just gone 120 minutes with Brighton and play us in 3 days. We might have a chance.

Rightly favourites over us but their league position flatters them. They aren't that good.

They’ve just gone 120 minutes. If we get outplayed on Tuesday I’ll be fuming. We’ve had such a long rest. No excuse

They have been fantastic most of the season to be fair, some huge wins and great football.
They've been solid at the back and good on the counter but Wood scoring with nearly every shot (exaggerated) is the main driver. They are way above where xg would put them (11th).

Nice example of XG not being foolproof. I’m enjoying their season a lot.

I think the last time we had this much time off, five players got injured..

    I predict

    ................. Onana

de Ligt - Maguire - Mazraoui

    Dalot - Casemiro - Fernandes - Dorgu

    ....... Garnacho - Zirkzee

    ............... Højlund

Have I missed an injury to Ugarte?

Yeah and it feels they've been overperforming their xG/xP. Was 1-1 vs Liverpool but last 20 minutes Liverpool missed few big chances (Salah in particular). I know many people don't care about those kind of stats but over whole season they can be good indicator of teams perfomances. Like with us last season, we finished 8th and should've finished around 12th according to xG and that was not surprising for anyone that watched most of our games.

Still, think Forest's ability to get results and not concede will be enough for them to get result against us as well. And if Wood is back for this game he'll surely score.

Have I missed an injury to Ugarte?
No, but Amorim seems to be rating Casemiro a bit higher than he used to; he said something along the lines of "Now we've learned how to use him." Plus, Ugarte has been away on international duty with Uruguay. Just a feeling I have, that Casemiro might be a surprise inclusion for this game, though I'm sure Ugarte will be the first choice more often than not for the rest of the season.

Fancy our chances, they’ll be physically and mentally knackered after that. Brighton deserved it in extra time.
