This is one of my favorite fixtures every season, United away v Newcastle. Not sure why.

I'm seeing victory in the crystal ball today. But for whom? A well fought 0-2 win for Louis, who surely by now realizes the importance of good football is crucial to results on the pitch and the Glazers' bank account.

I missed the deadline for the starting lineup, so here's my stab:

    De Gea
    Darmian Smalling Jones Blind
    Carrick Schneiderlin
    Young Rooney Memphis
    Martial

I have to believe Bastian will get some rest today. Unless Young is out with injury, he's in for Mata who has disappeared of late.

Think Bastian injured his knee mate so will defo not play. Agree with Young on the right but fear we will see Mata again.

I've become so cynical about United these days I can't even decide if I'm going to sneak off from work and catch the match (as is tradition). May just run a stream through my computer and get the audio instead. Under Moyes, I tuned in out of a masochistic desire to see just how gruesome it was going to get, but under the current regime I'm starting to be incredibly apathetic. I think that's worse, honestly. I'm predicting 1-0 United, Rooney PK in the 85th minute so that he continues his run of scoring in every game in 2016, because the football gods have really decided to punish us.

Apparently James Weir has travelled with the squad today - not sure whether that means he'll be on the bench or not, but good experience for him nonetheless - he's been very good for the reserves.

Don't you get the impression that they draw lots for whose turn it is to travel with the first team? He obviously lost.

As much as I love Mata, he should be dropped for this. I hope Schneidi and Depay start.

I don't yet know if I'll watch this. Whether Fellaini starts or not will help me decide.

Certainly seems that way, doesn't it?

I predict we'll have RoShaun Williams on the bench for the Liverpool game.
James Weir has been very impressive, but he seems to throw the kids in left right and centre. As you say it will be good for him travelling. Yet Sean Goss who was on tour doesn't get a look in.

Pls someone convince me not to stay up til 330 so I can watch til the end.

Have told myself for weeks that evening games not worth staying up for in Asia but can't stop myself Doing it!

Debating the same here even though I had convinced myself earlier in the day that it isn't worth it.

    Got a link please?
It's just on the side of their main page about United. Can't see him not starting tbh. They have a bit called Man United Live. They get the team news on there. If the teams are named an hour before kickoff they will have it before MUTV as their programme doesn't start until 7.

I've got the place to myself today but have opted to watch this instead of being on the PS4 and busting a nut. I know I'll probably regret it.

    Busting a nut?
    How intriguing.
    What does this mean?

Exactly. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it. I welcome seeing youth players when the time is right, but it's strange that van Gaal starts and subs on a bunch of youth players who've hardly ever even sat on the bench in Wolfsburg, only to not start the likes of Periera and McNair against League 1 opposition at home.

Herrera very lucky to start. His and Mata's most recent form has been appalling.

Funny how he keeps bringing Mata up in the conversation after games. I would be worried if I was him. I actually dropped both of them from my lineup, but didn't have Fellaini in either. I thought Memphis did enough.

Hate to say it but about time Mata was dropped

Don't know why, but I am always excited before a game. I never seem to learn .
Its in the blood. You either get it or you don't.

The adrenaline flows as soon as you know a game is coming, through every time we cross the half way line to the time the whistle goes.

Don't get the people conditioning their minds for dull , boring, couldn't care less attitude. You seek what you look for, you look for negativity you will find it, look for positives you will find it.

    UNITED SIDE ANNOUNCED
United: De Gea; Young, Smalling, Blind, Darmian; Schneiderlin, Fellaini; Lingard, Herrera, Martial; Rooney. Subs: Romero, Borthwick-Jackson, McNair, Weir, Pereira, Mata, Memphis.

Lingard and Martial on the wings. I'd say that's a good reason.

It's the system rather than the personnel that has been the problem. Sleeping by 4 and waking up by 7 for a day's work is terrible but yeah, looks like i'l give it a go, can't help myself.

Mata dropped is amazing news but I hate so much the fact that Fellaini is a Manchester utd player.

Can someone tell me why Memphis isn't starting?
