    2nd half like this:

    ...AWB.Maguire,Varane.Shaw...
    ............Mct......Mainoo........
    .................Bruno................
    Dalot...........................Garnacho
    ................Rashford..................

Maguire looks like a changed man. Otherwise, we're garbage .

Can't understand starting Rashford considering his form, His performance tonight is not unexpected. McTominay just has absolutely no fight in him to challenge anything in the midfield. AWB has been out of position since kick-off. Can't understand ETH's obsession with left-sided/right-sided centerbacks when we're pinned in our box and the opposition has free reign to pepper our goal at will. We need a proper defender back there. That said, Shaw's not been horrible but AWB is dire and needs taken off.

If we keep playing timid in midfield and on the backfoot in the second half, we're going to get beaten.

Yep, I am really struggling to see the case for keeping ten hag anymore . Don't see how we would be any worse than him in the short or medium term without him

And what was it Palace at home cup tied game that was the only decent game where we're comfortable control the game? All others including tonight just carnage.

That was pathetic, not one good thing in that half at all. McT, Rashford and Martial need to come off. Truly awful.

It's tactical, people need to open their eyes to this.

When they actually get the ball, Bruno, Shaw and Mainoo have been good. Maguire has been good defensively.
Defensively, our first thought is too boot it forward aimlessly to Martial, who isn't a strong target man. In addition, due to Mctominay's lack of presence, we aren't winning second balls. It's so bad that Bruno has actually swapped positions with him. In addition to this, my take is that shape is playing a big factor. We may be a bit too wide. I can't understand how Newcastle are first to a lot of these second balls. Despite having Mainoo and Shaw present, we still aren't and haven't attempted to play out of the back. Finally, despite losing the midfield battle, we are still poor out wide. AWB and Dalot have been coming inside aimlessly ( as the middle is still being lost) and leaving the outside exposed. In addition, the man marking has caused a lot of those spaces to open up defensively. I don't know if the speed of the game is too much for ETH to comprehend, but it's quite clear that tactically, the instructions aren't working and I honestly can't blame a single player for the being the case. I see Newcastle players having far more space available to them, whilst ours need to make the perfect pass to get out of tight situations.

Never fails. Dodgy streams shit the bed during the halves, but clear right up for halftime & after the match.

Everyone is sick of hearing it, but we really, really will do no good until the glazers are gone.

The company culture is set from the top, and they couldn;t give a toss about on field performance.

We are not an organization set up to succeed. We won;t be as long as a glazer sits at the top table.

What fecking game is MEN watching. McTominay getting the same result as our two CB's

EtH is too naive with his team selection and tactics. Especially in the big games.

Dominated by Newcastle with Rashford, McTominay and Martial ambling around. He should know what to expect from those three.
Naive? I’d say weak, he will not drop Rashford and plays him out of position which then compounds his below average performances.

Maguire carried us that half. Mainoo had some good moments too. Everyone else has been anonymous.

Except AWB. He's been notable for how often we're getting burned down our right

The number of times Newcastle have been marauding down our right hand side and Wan Bissaka somehow isn't even in the picture is incredible.

He's great as a 1v1 defender, but looks clueless positionally so often. Barely seems to know which end of the pitch he should be standing at any given moment.

    2nd half like this:

    ...AWB.Maguire,Varane.Shaw...
    ............Mct......Mainoo........
    .................Bruno................
    Dalot...........................Garnacho
    ................Rashford..................

I know Onana is a liability, but I'd still keep him on right now.

Rashy and Martial need to come off. Fresh legs in attack and let's remind Newcastle where we think they belong :)

Like this the defensive line up is a bit more durable I feel. Midfield is fine though Mainoo seems a bit knackered and McTom might be out of his depth here. Onana is clearly rattled and Rashford seems to be struggling mentally which puts the whole right flank in jeopardy. Martial is Martial, lacking any physical presence but some nifty touches and ideas nonetheless.

Looks like Mainoo will come off some time next half and I'd be surprised if Antony doesn't get a look in. Otherwise, we'll just have to hope Newcastle run out of steam...

Our flanks have been exposed over and over again, either with simple balls over the top or just plain old one-twos with running power (and the attitude to do it).

Rashford has played like a world class luxury player who doesn't contribute in the defensive side of the game so they can save all their energy for damaging the opposition when they get the ball at their feet, unfortunately he's been even worse when, on the rare occasion, it does actually reach him. McTominay has been invisible again for the most part, Fernandes and Mainoo have played off each other decently on a few occasions and look like they could be developing a solid relationship there. Garnacho a willing runner but been bullied by Trippier for most of that half. Maguire has been the standout defender and got his body in the way time and again but it feels like a matter of when they score and not if if we don't do something to change the tide in this game.

They're showing the best sequences right now. At least 5 clear cut chances. No credit from me, pure luck involved not to be at least 2-0 down.

I'd love for you to give me the definition of clear cut because according to Sky's stats, they've created 1 clear cut chance.

Nevertheless, they've obviously been the better team, and yes, you could argue that they should be ahead, but they're not.

Hopefully, ten Hag can address the situation come the second half but this is a Newcastle side that would give any team problems, especially at St James' Park.

Please stop selecting McTominay as a number 10, Bruno is playing as the deeper midfielder tonight, ETH selections are just unfathomable.

He needs to play a double pivot away in games like this, he’s never going to learn he’s simply too stubborn. Mctominay and Rashford need to brought off and he needs to bring on Amrabat and Hojlund and hope Newcastle are knackered because United fans just witnessed 45 minutes of the same we’ve been watching all season.

United conceded 14 shots again, at what point does our completely inept coach realise that Rashford needs a break and needs time out of the starting 11!

We'll concede immediately after half time.

Whenever we're playing badly, EtH always manages to make it worse at the break.

A club that doesn’t rid these feckers has no pride. Madrid would not tolerate many of these players for more than a season. But year after year, we tolerate these shower. We have no pride.
    Exactly.

It’s to a point where I don’t blame the players cause a lot of them have been here for years & shouldn’t be.

I don't know what they are trying. It's a total change to last season

All out counter, that is it, hope for Bruno to find a pass to the runners. Ten Hag not even attempting to put a cohesive style in place, and it is not just on the players available.

We need to bolster the midfield but we also need to change both Rashford and Martial.

Agree with Jenas here, Rashford just doesn't try if he's not happy about where he's playing. It's almost like he's saying I'm not going to try for you because I'm annoyed.

People need to breathe and calm down. That was a rough last 25 minutes no doubt about it. It looked as if a goal was imminent and we were so poor and relieving pressure.

That said, football is a funny game. Its half time, it's nil nil, and we have time to regroup, rethink and start again.

There is absolutely no doubt though, that Rashfords performance there, is as bad as any I can remember from a United player. I was wary of him starting, especially after we looked good going forward midweek, but I didnt expect this. There is nothing to praise, no silver lining, no positive to take or no mitigating factors (martial, who has been poor, can at least claim he's more isolated up top.) He simply cannot come out for the second half.

Antony for Rashford is about as obvious a substitution as i can think of, or possibly even another central midfielder and shift bruno right. Its clear the management need to prove their worth now too, and I'd seriously question them if we go out for more of the same.

I have no more words and dont like scapegoating, but nobody can watch that half and make an argument that rashford is even doing the bare minimum where effort is concerned. A real low point in his career I think. And a low point for me as a fan, watching a player on that sort of money, when I think of players like O'Shea, Butt, Park, Heinze, and countless other unfancied players who never gave anything but their all. It's so telling.

Id agree with all that, he’s been so poor, at some point a manager has to prioritise what’s good for the team over an individual.
