Marcus needs to improve his finishing and he would be lethal. He gets into really good positions at times.

Why did we ever sell Fabio?

    * Fabio as a left back fouls Carrick the CM *

    Ahhhh. I see.
He's playing inverted, similar to Clichy in City. That way they spread out when defending and help close down in the middle in order to gain possession and launch a counter.
    It's not really that uncommon.

Poor start but we grew into it. Yet again poor finishing and decision making is letting us down. We need a second.

Rashford really is a couple of years away from being a complete footballer.

gifted. But very poor decision making.
Nobody would have thought Harry Kane would become what he has. He was shunted round on loan and looked nothing much, but he learnt his trade. Marcus is having to learn in the first team, the pressure is completely different.

Our midfield is only Carrick it feels like. Could've have more goals this first half but glad that we at least managed to score.

Really want us to buy Auba next season. So nice to finally see some pace up top

How does rash lose his killer instinct which came to him so naturally last season?

He seems to be second guessing himself way too often.

Marcus deserves a goal today. If he scores I feel we get the 3 points.

Big if though. We have created enough for him to score a hat trick. Yet here we are only 1 up. Same story.

A second goal and this would be done. Hope to God it happens. Rashers needs to settle down and stop snatching at his chances

Rashford is doing everything right except for the last touch.
That reminds me of a certain someone who went to arsenal. Lol. No but if this was last season's rashford there's no reason he would not have buried both chances. He has the beating of his man though.

Decent half. As usual, though, we should be up by more.

Lingard and Rashford have linked up really well.

Rashford has done everything right, but his final product has been lacking. Makes it look so easy, though.

Rashford is either shot in terms of confidence in front of goal or just shit in front of goal

Hopefully we can keep them out and grab a second on the break with Martial or Mkhitaryan if they come on

Suspect this won't finish 0-1 though

He is a striker. He shouldn't be clueless in the last 3rd. If anything he should be clueless away from it.
Give him 2 seasons and I am sure you will change your opinion. The guy is on another level to strikers of his age in PL

We should've put this game to bed. If we end up drawing 1-1 it'll be an all too familiar ending.

How does rash lose his killer instinct which came to him so naturally last season?

He seems to be second guessing himself way too often.
Think he's put himself under too much pressure. Can't believe the coaches and/or sports psychologists aren't working with him on this. It's all mental as far as I can see.

Decent performance, should have at least one more, Middlesborough have applied themselves well but the difference in quality is there for all to see.

Mkhi and Martial on in the second half should overpower them.

He's got fantastic pace, but I feel nothing has worked in the final part for him. Finish awful, passing awful. Pace the plus.
He's made the wrong decisions today, but they're going to have to adjust to deal with him at half time.

Mkhitaryan for Mata seems the obvious change to me.

I know he has lacked the end product so far but come on.. you gotta love Rashford. Such a joy to watch, excellent feet and his runs are SO intelligent for a 19 year old. He only needs to tiniest bit of space to get in a position to create something, can't wait to see more of it in the second half. Good service from Lingard too! Great ball from Young for the goal and a nice header from a tight angle from Fellaini. Also some really solid clearances from Smalling and a good performance from Bailly, although we do look like we aren't sure of this formation.

Overall, I'm very happy. We didn't keep up the pressure enough after we scored but towards the end of the half we were starting to control the game again. Very strongly fancy is to go on and win, maybe with another goal or two.

Nobody would have thought Harry Kane would become what he has. He was shunted round on loan and looked nothing much, but he learnt his trade. Marcus is having to learn in the first team, the pressure is completely different.

    fair point.

think Rashford will go on to be a top striker for us. But he needs to gain confidence and calm down.

Plenty of chances created, defenddx quite well and a goal up. Big up to Fellaini, Young, Valencia and Lingard

Nothing to complain about apart from Rashford terrible finishing in front of goal - we should be 3-0 up

Bailly is all over the place positionally. We've got 4 outfield players who are very limited with the ball at their feet. And we are losing concentration at the back.

Even if Rashford should have had 1-2 goals by now, he's done well and been our best player with Mata. But we need a third competent attacking player on.

I sincerely hope the posters on here who were complaining about our line up - labelling it 'horrific', 'pathetic', 'painful' and 'worst line up ever' because it had Fellaini, young, Rashford and Lingard in it are all munching down on some humble pie; given that they have been the four best players on the pitch.

Let's say it all loud and clear together, okay:

Football. Is. Not. About. Names. On Paper.

Need martial and Mkhi to get the second and kill the game. Their defense is there for the taking.

Rashford is either shot in terms of confidence in front of goal or just shit in front of goal

Hopefully we can keep them out and grab a second on the break with Martial or Mkhitaryan if they come on

Suspect this won't finish 0-1 though

He looks exactly like a young striker who hasn't been played in his position for a while. Funny that.

The lad just needs an extended run of games to get back to his form last season. He's good enough to help us rather than learn his trade out on loan, part of that is accepting he's learning
