No one can deny how disappointing Antony has been, but it seems like Pellistri gets better every week he doesn't play. He has very obvious qualities, he takes on defenders, and keeps width well. But there is still so much lacking in his game, which is shown at all levels.

On the other hand, if Antony doesn't perform, it makes sense to try something else. Sancho at RW for me is an option. Garnacho - Rashford - Sancho could be our best attack available right now.

I don't enjoy watching us play Wolves, they always seem to turn up for us, and we make heavy weather of it

If I'm ETH everyone is on finishing practice every day in the build up to this, I'm absolutely sick of us being so wasteful. If we could finish our chances, we wouldn't be in this mess

I don't want to see Maguire, I certainly don't want to see WW. I don't really want to see DDG but I'm unsure how reliable Butland is. I noticed our FB page was celebrating DDGs number of starts for us in his career. Great timing after he blundered the ball into the net Sunday.

Hopefully Garnacho is ready to come on around the 60th minute and run at them.

    We'll win this one comfortably

We've scored 3 goals in 365 minutes, Wolves just shutout Villa. They are coming here with a low block and put 11 men behind the ball, We likely aren't scoring. Struggled to beat them the last time we played them and we were in much better form.

That midfield would be disastrous. Sabitzer has absolutely no ability to play deeper, we'd completely concede that part of the pitch. Pellistri is a right winger, he has not shown any ability to receive the ball centrally in tight spaces and link attacks. Both are very lightweight.

I get that Casemiro has been shit recently, but I'd take a shit Case over this setup all day.
Hence I said controversial. What we have dies not work, when something dont work yiu try something else. Who would have thought stones would play CM? This is what I like about pep, trains his players to be multi positional. I take your point on Sabitzer but Pellistri, I think, would be perfect on the middle.

With the week off, playing at home, losing the last two games, anything short of not winning this one is a disaster, and that's before you even look at the table so for that reason I think they'll wake the feck up and force it. The game after however might be a different story...

We absolutely need to win this game.

Wolves will sit low try to play in counter and especially on set pieces.

We should try to put intensity and hopefully score a goal early as they need to have a point and they will play higher if they are down early.

    -------------------------------------------------De Gea--------------------------------------------------

No one more popular in town than the Back Up QB when the starter isn't playing well.

Logic (and sod's law) says that pool win their 3 remaining matches meaning we need 9 points from 4 games.
You'd like to think that with proper rest, limited travelling and 3 of those matches at home and all of them against sides we "should" be beating, it'll be fine.
But, oh my goodness, the current form, lack of goals and the defensive brainfarts have left us in a dodgy situation.
Early evening (BST) on June 3rd could either have us celebrating an excellent season or bemoaning an end of season collapse with the Scousers pipping us for 4th and citeh on the way to their own treble.
Doesn't really bear thinking about. :wenger:

This has suddenly become a huge. huge game.

Win this and it dampens a lot of talk. Fail to win and we really do look like throwing top 4 away.

    Full strength:

    --------------------------------------De Gea-----------------------------------------
    AWB-----------------Lindelof------------Shaw----------------------Dalot
    ---------------------Casemiro--------------Eriksen----------------------
    Anthony-----------------------Bruno-------------------------------Rashford
    ------------------------------------Martial-------------------------------

Wouldn't mind a different combination of full backs, or Sancho coming in for Martial and Rashford up top.

Please, for the love of god don't play Weghorst!!! I can't face seeing him try to play top level football again.

we really do look like throwing top 4 away.

We'll have thrown it away if we don't get 3 points in this.. As our next match would be away and we are in woeful form away. Then it's Chelsea who will treat it like their cup final and we haven't beat in 3 years (last 6 matches vs Chelsea 0W-5D-1L) and then Fulham who have had that match circled since the FA Cup match and one could say has outplayed us in both matches this season, needed a late stoppage time Garnacho goal to beat them at Craven Cottage and then they were the better side in the FA Cup until their red card meltdown. It's also not easy to beat a side 3 times in a season.

This is not even factoring the DDG blunders that likely will happen that lead to unexpected goals

Anything less than 3 points, no matter how much graft is involved in getting them, is a disastrous result. We have to instil some sort of momentum going into the last games.

I don't fear Wolves at Old Trafford, but I fear our performances.

If we don't pick up the 3 points here, then we're done for top 4 in my opinion, even though it would still be in our own hands

An early goal could undo Wolves low block and defensive lines, but I do fear we'll struggle to get it early enough to avoid us going into panic mode.

I deny. He's by far our best RW option, streets ahead of Sancho in work rate, goal threat, defensive work, pressing.

Yea, I deny it too. He's been decent IMO. Not lived up to the price, but the big money transfers very rarely do.

If we had signed him for 40 Million I think people would be giving him really good reviews, even though his performance is the same.

Sancho should start because for all of his faults he is best equipped to go against their low block.

    de Gea
Wan Bissaka - Lindelof - Shaw - Dalot
    Casemiro - Eriksen
    Antony - Bruno - Sancho
    Rashford

Garnacho, Fred and Sabitzer off the bench once the game opens up and there is more space.

What about the second half then. Casemiro and Eriksen always fade in second half.

We’ll be fine, I’ve changed my pajamas so that’s bound to lead to better performances.

When Julen Lopetegui took over Wolves at Christmas they were bottom of the table with a mere 10 points. Currently 13th with 40 points. They are safe now with three games to play and hopefully they play without the high intensity that his side tends to bring to matches..

This is probably our easiest game out of the 4 remaining ones. A win will boost our confidence but our form right now is terrible. A must win game but we only have 1 goal in our last 3 games.

Are Wolves still the resilient hard to score against side? If the answer is yes then it will be a nervy game again.

They got smashed for 6 recently so no. Then again, Spurs did too not long before we showed up and got complacent and lost a two goal lead.

    That would be my worry.

This is gonna be a very nervous game. Hate the fact this one and Bournemouth aren’t shown on anything.

A match Liverpool should be winning by 3 or 4 goal margin but knowing how lucky Liverpool are they'll likely win with dodgy VAR penalty deep into injury time.
That's been the worst part. Pool winning big would be one thing but seems like every damn win has been a lucky close win

We'll win this and Leicester will get something out of Liverpool. Sorted.
The fact we’re playing first makes me thing it could swing back the way for the first time.

It’s hard to ascertain how shit we are though. Some of the WTF moments in defence and inability in attack recently had been staggering, some of the worst performances in the last 10 years. But mostly at OT we’ve been winning.

If we win this it will give the fans confidence that we can get the job done we’ll just be 2 wins away, with 2 more home games to play. It will also put pressure on Liverpool for the first time.

It’s just that the way we’re playing at the moment we won’t be winning this, so I could see a calamity draw which would give Liverpool even more encouragement and they’d twat Leicester 3/4-0.

Keep thinking the same and also if Villa go to Anfield off the back of three losses you'd never know. If there's to be a swing in the points difference could be these next two matches provided we win both of ours because as said Chelsea will be coming off the back of the game vs City on the Sunday and will go Cup Final mode.

The way we’re playing really reminds me of the last few games under Ole. The players just got worse and worse. Strangely there were wins in amongst the defeats but the trend was down and the players got to the point where they couldn’t understand or believe what the hell was happening to them. EtH has to dig them out where Ole wasn’t able to but I will (probably) not be surprised if we don’t win another game.

Still, my hunch is we’ll win this and break out of the spiral.

Brighton beat us 1-0, then got smashed by Everton 5-1 at home. Our goals have dried up. Taking nothing for granted from here in. ETH has to play his strongest team for rest of season. No rotation and no WW. Just got to go for it all guns blazing.

An early goal to settle the nerves would be nice. can see it getting nervy if we fail to score first half.
    lets get behind them.

    DDG

    Dalot
    Lindelof
    Maguire
    Shaw

    Casemiro
    Eriksen
    Bruno

    Sancho
    Martial
    Rashford

simply a must win game. 3-1 United

We are due to unleash a thrashing of some teams at old Trafford this season in the league.. surely it has to start these last few games. Ruthless aggression

Have to win this game. 3pts is a must, take a win no matter how, Wolves always tough they are a stubborn side, early goal will help us.

I think we will win this, but I don't expect anything from Leicester, I think they're done and dusted. It'd take something truly spectacular from them to get points off of both Liverpool and Newcastle and stay up.

We need to look like we're going to thrash a team first.

I’m usually optimistic going into almost any game, but the recent run has worn me down. The players look knackered, both mentally and physically, and given how fragile we look at the back, I’m starting to dread every match.

Hopefully a week’s break acts as an opportunity to hit reset. Fearing the worst, hoping for the best.
