Just did a check, only 12th in La Liga, guess they aren't playing all that well themselves either.
They've had a lot of draws witch means they're either good defensively or the teams they've played are equally as shit.
I predict a draw or loss. Don't think we'll be able to muster up enough confidence to put in a good performance. Jose has lost trust in players, constantly calling them out, they're tiring of it, and have quit playing for him.

    De Gea

    Valencia Lindelof Bailly Smalling Young

    Jones McTominay Matic

    Fellaini

    Lukaku

Put Dalot and Shaw for Young and Valencia, and you have Mourinho's Alfred dream of a 6-foot non-unified football kingdom.

    ----------De gea
    Dalot----Smalling---Bailly----Shaw
    -----Herrera---Mctominay---Matic
    ---------------Fellaini-
    --------Martial--------Rashford

Smalling in nets, matic left wing, Scott up top, big Rom right back and Phil Jones back on corners.

We will sit back and will look to play on the counter. If anybody expects otherwise, good luck!

We'll get a early goal and be down by 2 goals full time . 1-2

Valencia lost 0-2 at home against Juventus despite Juve playing with 10 men.

    They are absolute shite.

You know I’m starting to think finishing 3rd in this group might be our best hope of qualification for next years CL via Europa. Even then, I’m seeing nothing that makes me think we could win that.

Be a tough game Tuesday but hopefully we can pull it off.

    Expect Pogba to be dropped..

Maybe even out of the squad completely. This is what Jose typically does.
Yeah, predicting the team is real difficult so I am expecting more self destruction. Are we going to see McTominay at CB again?

A -2 goal difference team vs a -1 goal difference team, in the champions league.

Valencia are ordinary but we might be worse at this moment in time.

Stop Rodrigo's runs in behind the defense and Parejo's passes into the front men and we should be fine. However they are far more combative in midfield than we are so Parejo might be set up to play his game. I'm already seeing a scenario like last season against Sevilla where Banega danced around our midfield passing as he pleased. And our midfield is even more lethargic than last season when we dont have the ball so thats a terrible sign.

But Valencia are the joint 2nd lowest scorers in La Liga this season with 5 goals in 7 matches.
At the back they've conceded 6 goals in 7 matches. So fairly tight at the back.

Kudos to any fans here who look forward to upcoming games. It shames me as a fan, but my overall interest in watching us play is at an all time low.

I have no plans for Tuesday, but I honestly can’t say with any certainty if I’ll bother to watch this.

Yes, I do. We will sit back and will look to hoof it at any opportunity. We ain't playing any counter.
Feck forgot about hoofball. 2 defensive mids with fellaini and lukaku up top.

    3-1 Valencia.

Performances in the league might not affect CL performances if the players take the prestige of the competition seriously. I'm hoping for a good show in the CL, it's literally the only thing we have going this season apart from the FA Cup.

We have far too many issues at the moment. The chopping and changing of line-ups, a seemingly unhealthy obsession with trying players in unnatural positions, and odd formations is only the start. The off the field problems continue to mount and I don't even know what to think about it. The only players that are getting games in their correct position and playing at least decently are de Gea, Smalling, Fellaini, and Shaw. Too many attacking players are just not in form and I don't know how we can fix that, other than by them playing more and hopefully clicking. Lukaku has either missed too many chances you'd expect him to put away or been poor altogether. It seems like if he's poor, we're poor, and we're incapable of playing without him or replacing him.

I fear José is going to try and do something unique and leave our most talented players out again. If we fail to win this game the group becomes extremely tricky. If we win this game and manage at last a point from the double-header with Juventus, I'd expect us to qualify by the end of matchday 5 and the final game against Valencia in the Mestalla will mostly meaningless (unless we had a chance to win the group of course).

I'm not sure what issues are going on behind the scenes if there is real unrest within the squad. Is there a divide? The players in question seem to be Bailly, Pereira, Pogba, Lingard, Sanchez, and Martial if reports are true. I haven't heard about any injuries to Pereira, Lingard, or Sanchez for them to be left out of the squad yesterday which adds fuel to the fire. Bailly having to watch McTominay play ahead of him seems like a punishment as well. However, Pogba and Martial seemed to be given the chance when there were players available... Why? Maybe Jose just wanted to show that they're not playing well enough and sub both off. It was very easy to criticise them after yesterday.

All that said, I'd go with something like this on Tuesday:

    de Gea
    Dalot Smalling Lindelof Shaw
    Herrera Matic Pogba
    Rashford Lukaku Sanchez
    ---
Romero; Young, Bailly; Fred, Fellaini, Lingard; Martial

If certain players really are against Jose, then we could see Bailly replaced on the bench by Jones. Lingard & Martial replaced by McTominay & Mata etc... But, it gets to a point where we can't even field 18 if there really are problems with so many. It needs to be sorted quickly, so hopefully, the staff will be able to have a meeting on Monday morning and get everyone to just fix their issues and concentrate on the football.

I was going to go to this game after work, but for the first time ever, I just don't feel like it. It's pretty sad. It's going to be a poor level of fill and I don't think our support will be up for the game when we really need it to be. I know I'm being part of the problem by not going, but I just can't bring myself to fork over the money for something I expect to be pretty sour.

Regardless, in terms of the result, I'm thinking slightly more positively. 1- or 2-0 to United in a pretty stale affair, but it'll get us over the line and we'll hopefully go pretty far in this tournament.

    —————-—-de gea
    Valencia—bailey—-smalling—Shaw
    ————-—Fellaini
    ———Andreas—--Pogba
    Dalot——Rashford—-Sanchez

Dalot could benefit from some experience behind him and the man can whip in a ball and has some serious pace. Might be orth a try.

Andreas would likely be really up for a game against his former side.

Lingarf and Rashford are on the same wavelength often.

I’d even be tempted to stick Lingard behind a front 3 of Sanchez, Martial and Rashford. With Pogba and Periera in the middle.

I do like the looks of that attacking 4, because:
    • Lingard is best used as a roaming no. 10 and isn't effective as a RW;
    • Martial can play CF but hasn't really impressed there and he's also the player we have whose abilities are most suited to being a LW;
    • Rashford is a striker but he's rubbish as a target man so I'd stick him on the RW to run and occupy defences;
    • Sanchez no longer has the legs to play as a winger but he still has excellent technical ability and tenacity and has excelled as a CF before. Would try him as CF
However, a midfield of Pogba, Pereira and Lingard would be overrun I think. Think I would go 433 with Martial---Sanchez---Rashford and a midfield of Pogba---Matic---Fred or Pogba---Matic---Pereira. Or some form of 352 which would probably suit our attackers even more.

What if we outplayed and lost this one yet again which is very predictable, does it mean Jose will walk away after this?

Jose will never walk away from this job. The only way he's going is if he's pushed.

    The day after West Ham

This cat sums up the mood after that performance yesterday.

After seven games, we are level on points with Moyes' 13/14 side but with worse goal difference. In those seven games under Moyes, we played Swansea (a), Chelsea (h), Liverpool (a), Crystal Palace (h), Man City (a), West Brom (h) and Sunderland (a). We drew against Chelsea thanks to their manager playing for a draw. Our opening seven fixtures this season were: Leicester City (h), Brighton (a), Spurs (h), Burnley (a), Watford (a), Wolves (h) and West Ham (a).

On another ominous note, Chelsea's record in 15/16 was similar, with just 8 points from their opening seven games. Oh well, onwards and upwards.

For a few days we can forget about our Premier League struggles and look forward to the Champions League. We play Valencia, who we have drawn in five of the eight previous times we faced them. Just one player (Chris Smalling) is still at the club from the last time we played them eight years ago.

The good news is Valencia are also struggling in their league and have just eight points from their opening seven fixtures including five draws.
We have to win this game, It’s my mates child’s 1st birthday on the Thursday and he’s an Arsenal supporter so obviously had to buy his child the pink United kit, but given that Arsenal are not in turmoil anymore and we are I can’t hand it over with us in this slump with any pride.

Are rival fans allowed to vote on score predictions. Seems to be a few predicting a 0-5 loss.

Valencia started this season beyond abysmal. There is some improvement recently and they look like a football team again.

I expect them to play their fairly conservative 442.

    Rodrigo - Batshuayi (Gameiro)
    Guedes (Cheryshev) - Parejo - Kondgbia - Wass/Soler
    Gaya - Garay - Murillo/Gabriel/Diakhaby - Piccini/Gabriel
    Neto

Piccini is terrible, while Gabriel (the ex-Arsenal CB), is a CB and very limited going forward. For some reason their manager loves Diakhaby, who was a bit of a disaster so far. Hard to say who is going to start as CB.
Guedes is their most important creative player. After a very late transfer (PSG tried to squeeze every penny out of Valencia after his very successful loan last year), it took him some time to get his season going. Without him performing, Valencia are toothless and thats one reason for their horrible start. He is picking up some momentum recently. Soler and Wass are not really traditional wide player; Marcelino likes playing CMs out wide (he always started Pereira as LM). Their right side has been pretty atrocious and lacks any threat going forward. Gameiro and Batshuayi are both new and not really up to speed, while Rodrigo doesn't look like the player he was last season.

I expect a fairly boring game between two defensive minded teams, that struggle to play football. Even just one week ago I would have expected a boring but convincing United win, just because Valencia were beyond hopeless. Now I am not so sure anymore. They are showing some signs, that they get their season back on track, while everything around United seems to be toxic.

Since I can never predict Jose's formation I'll guess 2.

No matter how bad things get I still look froward to watching us every week even with the recent performances. I guess im just a football fan but most of all a Manchester United fan! Players and Managers come and go but the club will always remain. UTFR!

I find that it's much better watching football as a neutral but still hoping for a Utd win. The sport itself has changed too much to enjoy it like I used to. Too money oriented for my liking. I find the less annoyed I get based on our results the more I can enjoy the whole weekend of football.
