I can't see anything but a loss. We are terrible. As bad as last year.

We're definitely not as bad as last year. But this will be a big test, especially after tonight's results.

We need to put out an attacking lineup, all 3 points are needed from now on so no reason to play it safe:

    De Gea
    Rafael Smalling Rojo Shaw
    Herrera Carrick
    Valencia Mata Januzaj
    Rooney
    This would be my choice.

Going to be a tough match, their is potential for any result really.

Knee jerk. Obviously the result is all that matters at the end of the day but our performances have all pretty much been better then the shite we served up week in, week out last season. We'll beat Spurs, they aren't that good.

Still confident about this as we're at home but these games used to be a banker, regardless of the opposition before under Fergie. A loss was a shock but now it's almost expected...

In the last two years, we've lost at home to:

    - Arsenal
    - City
    - Liverpool
    - Tottenham
    - Newcastle
    - Everton
    - Southampton
    - Swansea
    - Sunderland
    - West Bromwich Albion

That's ten teams! So half the league have won at OT since Fergie retired.

Our peak last season was better than anything we served up this year.

    .
Awful when you put it like that. Swansea have won here twice as well (FA cup last season). Been much better generally this season though.

    Swansea 4-1
    Bayer Leverkusen 5-0
    Newcastle 4-0
    Norwich 4-0

This season, I haven't seen anything close to those games, we are too hot and cold.
Last season we did fine in the small matches, but Moyes was shown up in the big games to be clueless. We had an awful record at home. Just showed he couldn't handle it. This season we've struggled more in the small matches then in the big ones, but at the same time our finishing has been very poor all season so we aren't taking many chances. Don't forget though that we've had some very good results this season though, like beating Liverpool 3-0. We had a few good results last season like the Newcastle one but they all felt empty because the week before or week after we would get hammered by a big team. There was no progression.

Same goes for this season though mate. We haven't beaten a team in the top 10 since December. Swansea, West Ham, Spurs and now Arsenal, we look like we are regressing badly in the big games too. The next 4 league games will probably tell us where we are at progression wise from last season though.

I fear that we are now in free fall and if Spurs turn they will definitely rip us to shreds. It's bad enough that we have so many players out of form but when you account for our manager actively sabotaging us through shit selections or idiotic subs then we start ata massive disadvantage.

Carrick looked sharp and Januzaj showed some pace. I'd start them, play our 3 best CM's and try to win the midfield and make sure we can handle Spurs' pressing there.

    -------Rooney---------
    ????---------Januzaj
    ---Blind----Herrera-
    -------Carrick------
    Shaw------------Rafael
    -----Rojo-Smalling---
    -------DeGea---------

I guess Young should start out left, though I'd be tempted to play Mata on the right and Januzaj on the left with that back 3 and Rafael and Herrera's energy available on the overlap.

Utterly shocked if we win this.

Haven't beaten spurs at home since 2011/12. . Then we of course add in how shit we have been and this defence up against Kane and Ericksen. .

    2-0 spurs

The big money is on a draw. We love draws these days.
Nah, we're at home, we'll probably win it. Yesterday was a confidence blow but the players will be up for it to make up for the loss, no way will we lose twice in a row at home, we'll look to bounce back. The first half especially showed plenty of encouraging signs so hopefully we can build on it.

Spurs aren't in good form either so people should be more positive. Their last 7 games in all competitions are:
    2-1 win away to QPR
    3-2 win home to Swansea
2-0 loss vs Chelsea in the cup final
    2-0 loss away to Fiorentina
2-2 draw home to West Ham
    1-1 draw home to Fiorentina
    3-2 loss away to Liverpool

2 wins, 3 losses and 2 draws. Nothing to shout about.

We looked fresh, lively and dominant against Arsenal, though. We played well, game was very two-sided, we had pace, attacked and could have easily equalised had the ref not had a mare.

Our pace was also causing Arse defenders a heap of trouble. Under any sane official we would have been playing 11 vs 10 since Bellerin did more than enough to get sent off. All in all this is what we've been asking of van Gaal all season. Pacy football, forcing errors off defenders and Rooney up top. And van Gaal delivered, against our main rival for top 4 too.

You cannot possibly think we're doing no better than we were under Moyes. That's just insane. Man would have played Fellaini CDM, set out to defend and crossed & prayed.

This is all fair, but their back 4 includes Walker, Dier and one of Davies or Rose. We can certainly get at them.

    -----------------------------------Jones--------------Smalling---------------Rojo----------------------------Valencia-----------------------------------------------Blind---------------------------------------------Young
    ------------------------------------------Fellaini-------------------Herrera/Mata-----------------------------

Have people watched the Spurs? They arent half as good as some imply, we were by far the better side over there. Quite confident that we can beat them, but we do have to put two defenders on Kane and Carrick on Eriksen, if we do that we're solid.

Very confident of a victory, I'm going 3-1.

    This lineup or nothing..

    De Gea

Valencia - Smalling (Jones) - Rojo (Smalling) - Shaw (Rojo if Shaw injured)
    Carrick - Blind
    Mata - Herrera - Young
    Rooney

Subs: Valdes, Rafael, Jones, Fellaini, Januzaj, Falcao, Wilson

Arsenal were nothing special and got lucky with the ref as well. We should beat Spurs.

    -----------------DDG---------------
    Rafael----Smalling----Rojo------Shaw
    ----------------Carrick--------------
    Valencia---Herrera----Mata----Young
    ----------------Rooney--------------

Subs: Valdes, Jones, Blind, Fellaini, Januzaj, Wilson, Falcao.

It's got to that point (a bit like last year) where I feel lethargic about a game which I should really be excited about.

    I think we'll win.

Hopefully we line up like this:

    --------------------DDG
    Valencia - Smalling - Rojo - Shaw
    ---------Herrera - Carrick
    Januzaj --------- Mata --------- Young
    ------------------Rooney

And yes, I honestly think that we'll win this game.

Think we need a game where we go out and simply express ourselves. These conservative performances are doing us no good.

    ................................DDG...............................

    .................Jones........Carrick.......Rojo..............

    Valencia...........Blind...........Hererra............Shaw

    ................Mata.........Rooney.......Young.............

Would quite like to see this, with Valencia providing the width on the right and Jones shifting over to RB when we attack.

Against this 4-4-1-1 I really hope that Van Gaal will keep playing a 4-1-4-1. The Spurs are very fast in their play, but they have the technical ability to keep the ball with Bentaleb and Mason, with Chadli coming inside with Eriksen. It’s going to be very important to shut Eriksen down during this game and especially very aggressive on the ball holder. This will be a tense game for sure

In Di Maria’s absence and the last defeat to Arsenal, I hope few changes in the lineup.

    ----------------------------------------De Gea-----------------------------------------
    Rafael------------------------Jones----------Rojo/Smalling----------------Rojo/Shaw
    --------------------------------------Carrick/Blind--------------------------------------
    Januzaj---------------------Herrera-------------Mata---------------------------Young
    -----------------------------------------Rooney----------------------------------------

    ---------------------------------Lloris------------------------------------

    Walker--------------Dier-----------------Vertonghen--------Davies

    ------------------------Mason-------------Bentaleb---------------------

    Townsend--------------------Eriksen---------------------------Chadli

    -----------------------------------Kane-------------------------------------

I think this will either be a game which will 'brake the camel's back' so to say or we'll say fe.k it lets show that we're good and make a statement. We need to lift ourselves after yesterday defeat.
It will be a tough, tough game.
