Carrick and Morgan have been our weakest midfield partnership so far and it's annoying that he's using them at home again.

This is now a must win -- if we fail to take advantage of City dropping points, and don't go top, then we deserve bloody shooting.

Maybe he wants to pair Herrera and BFS together in midweek. They both worked their socks off in midweek.

I'd have played Schneiderlin-Herrera. Good chance to try them out together.

    Saved Carrick-Schweinsteiger for midweek.

I don't really see them as an ideal partnership either, though. If that's his rotation policy for the midfielders, it's a senseless one. Play two very similar defensive midfielders in one game, and two box-to-box midfielders in another game. I'm no expert but it seems there's an obvious solution to that one.

Yeah I find it odd when we see those two together, our most defensive midfielders and then herrera and sweinsteiger, our most attacking midfielders which LVG has gone with a few times. Surely would be much more natural to play a mix, especially at home.

If we aren't top of the league at 5pm I will start to have doubts about this regime for the first time.

Think the main problem is Bastian is part of all our best combinations and he can't play every game.

True, but I'd take Herrera alongside one of Carrick/Morgan either as opposed to both of them.

I just don't like watching us play when they're together, maybe that'll change today against piss-poor Sunderland, but they're way too similar, neither are very adventurous, both sit deep, and it makes us really dreary to watch.

Carrick with Herrera worked well last season. Don't think he has used the pairings as well as he could.

Would have liked BFS or Herrera to start, maybe both do not start due to the midweek champions league and both will start that match.

2 defensive midfielders looks a bit too much, especially when we aren't that creative in setting up chances.

Let's hope United win big which will give this team and all the fans a lot of confidence, even though it's only Sunderland. But we also need to be a bit more wary of this sunderland team, never know what might happen.

How does Memphis keep getting starts over Young? Give Ash a fair run too!

Because even though his performances in the league have been relatively poor he still creates chances and seems to be building a good understanding with Martial. His potential is too big to drop him now, especially for Young who is 30 and struggles creating goals. He also runs behind defences that Mata, Young and Rooney don't do.

Not sure I'd like Herrera as part of a midfield two. I share some of LvG's nervousness over the defensive aspect of our midfield when Herrera plays. He's a quality player but needs to be played as the most advanced of a midfield three imo, where Rooney is (on paper) playing today.

Interested to see Darmian at left back - hopefully he does a good job, and I think he will.

Not sure about Carrick/Schneiderin, as per everyone apparently. Should be okay though, smart to rotate with an important game midweek. Should be a good enough lineup to see us over the line.

Yeah I agree, especially when you consider that looks like the pairing for the near future. They give a little less composure and we'd probably have less posession. However they'd bring a lot more energy and forward momentum to the team.

how the feck can people complain? There's an excellent!!!! chance that we are top of the leage in 3 hrs... Lvg is shite.........

Think most people got 10/11 today! :)
