This team never fills me with confidence. Our campaign is trudging along. Really need something special here.

We will dick these and pray we get back into 3rd with help from others. It's the away games that are the problem though, we need to start winning them or we will be fecked for top 4.

Load everyone behind the ball, and instruct our faster players to run down the ball if we manage to boot it aimlessly forward, charge into the opposition box and then hit the deck. Repeat until we get a penalty. Then we'll all pray RVP or Rooney convert it.

Basically just get the three points - I don't care how.

Here's what i would like to see. Just give the guys , and the formation a chance.

    Dave
    Rafael - Chris - Marcos - Luke
    Michael - Ander
    Adnan - Angel - Ashley
    Wayne

    Subs:

    Afro -> Adnan
    Juan -> Ashley
    Robin -> Wayne

    Edit;
Also, where's wilson in this equation. Shouldn't he get a shot maybe? He has pace, which we need.

    De Gea
    Rafael Smalling Rojo Shaw
    Di Maria Herrera Blind Young
    Mata
    Rooney
Please, its not too much to ask for to dump the shite diamond he seems insistent on playing. And Wilson to be subbed on, not falcao or rvp.
That's a decent lineup but I thought most of the fans here loved the diamond?

    DDG
    An actual RB
    Someone
    Rojo
    Shaw
    Di Maria
    Blind
    Herrera
    Mata
    Young
    Rooney

    Not a diamond or 352.

People like it more then the 3-5-2 but the diamond really isn't a formation that is balanced or makes sense tactically. You have your full backs acting as wingers and fullbacks and nobody helps them out defensively, but then usually you overcrowd the middle or have your forwards go wide. Our version of a diamond is basically 2 strikers who don't offer much movement, a target man behind them, and then Di maria and the right center mid half acting as central mids and half wide players, so either the middle is left completely to blind or again the wings are completely down to the full backs. Defensively you have players going out of position to help out on the wings as well, instead of a natural wide player helping out. Its a formation that nobody uses for a reason really, or uses successfully. Liverpool were good last year, but even then, it was because of their pace going forward and they outscored everyone. They would be useless in Europe with it.

We're at home so we should win. Would like to see us build on the decent attacking plays we had against Swansea. Offensive line-up! Give Rafael a game!

Easy yet unconvincing win. No clean sheet. Drop points in next away game.

    De Gea
    Rafael Smalling Rojo Shaw
    Di Maria Herrera Blind Young
    Mata
    Rooney

I came here to post that very team, though with Di Maria and Young alongside Mata but that's splitting hairs.

The time has come to sacrifice for the greater good of attacking play. Di Maria back to a winger, Young for crosses and Mata behind a striker. Rooney will play though I'd prefer Falcao in that line up.

Hoping Carrick is back. With this sort of formation and personnel we should push up the pitch, control the midfield, be excellent on the counter, capable of picking out the decisive pass, get wide men into dangerous areas, have players who dare to shoot from distance, interchanging wingers, Flair in all the right places. And our best striker playing in his best position. Carrick would captain and organise the midfield and defence not to mention helping them keep their shape. Rooney would rally the forwards and be involved in creating and finishing chances. Not wasting his time receiving the ball from our cb's.

    -------------------------De Gea
    -------------Smalling------------Rojo
    Rafael------------------------------------------Shaw
    -------------------------Carrick
    ------------Herrera-----------------Blind
    Di Maria--------------------------------------Young
    -------------------------Rooney

    Valdes
    Jones
    Valencia
    Januzaj
    Falcao
    McNair
    Mata

It just puts me in a bad mood thinking of this game because I know we should have a win against Swansea under our belts.

    Key points:
    1) Play two actual fullbacks.
    2) Play 1 up top.
    3) Play players in their correct positions.
    4) Play with two wingers to give width.
    5) Play for the result not possession.

    De Gea
    Rafael Smalling Rojo Shaw
    Herrera Carrick
    Di Maria Mata Young
    Rooney
And if we want more physical players in the middle of the park:
    De Gea
    Rafael Smalling Rojo Shaw
    Fellani Carrick
    Di Maria Rooney Young
    Wilson
Do not want any of this hoof ball to Fellani in the last 20 mins. Fair enough in stoppage time, but just play fast attacking football, using width to stretch the opposition defence.

Should win this game at home no questions asked, but my worry is that LVG will play Falcao, RVP (If fit), Rooney back in CM, win this game easily, then he will play the same again against Newcastle which we will then drop more points.

    This guy knows his shit.

He's bombed Blind out, that won't go down well. There will be tears.

Carrick is better than Blind and if he is fit enough to play then he should start ahead of him. Against teams like Chelsea away I think both should play, something like this might work:

    De Gea
    Rafael Smaling Rojo Shaw
    Carrick Blind
    Di Maria Herrera Young
    Rooney
Just means we will have more cover/protection in midfield, then pace on the wings and Rooney for counter attacks. But against lesser teams it should only be one of them.

We'll win playing shite football. Any criticism after the game will be met with people saying how some are not satisfied even when we win.

I like that side, good protection as you say and the width. Doubt we will see it though.

We have less than a third of the season to go. The football has been poor, even though it hasn't really been reflected in the points total and our position in the league. Even if we make 4th, which I expect - maybe even 3rd - I doubt even LVGs supporters (which I am) will be happy with the way we have played. Goes back to the thread about celebrating if we make top 4. Nothing to be happy with this season, just relieved to get back into CL. So at the moment, I will accept playing total crap and winning.

    Ddg

    Rafael. Smalling. Rojo. Shaw

    Valencia. Herrera. Blind. Young

    Rooney

    Wilson.

Sorry adm form has been average give Wilson the start if we need a goal bring in falcoa and adm if necessary. Of course LVG won't field my team though

Why anyone would place Valencia as a winger is beyond me... If he's not a full back, he should be nowhere near the pitch.

We'll win this, comfortably, and it will be a sorely fecking needed 3 points -- can't afford any more stupid slip ups. But I'm not worried about home games, it's the reverse of last season.

    De Gea

    Valencia Smalling Rojo Shaw

    Blind Herrera

    Di Maria Mata Young

    Rooney

That's what I'd go for. Di Maria isn't cutting it centrally at the moment and we could do with his pace out wide. Young is taking his chances well and deserves a start. Mata needs a game. Jones will start ahead of Smalling, sadly.

    De Gea

    Valencia Smalling Rojo Shaw

    Blind Herrera

    Di Maria Mata Young

    Rooney

    This.

But Young who fixates his game on cutting to his right foot and whipping in crosses would only have someone like Rooney to aim for, I could imagine alot of blank crosses being headed out. Just wish we had a Costa/Cavani type aerial threat/predator in the box.

So I can see Fellaini playing...

We'll win this one, but no real use to us. Don't see rivals dropping points and even if they do, we'll lose our next away game anyway.

City to beat or draw against Liverpool, almost a banker unless the ref has a bad day at the office.

Should be back to 5 points. Having just seen Newcastle and the fact they tend to go hell for leather at SJP I would suggest we will win there as well. So 5 points ahead going into Scouse game.

Then the fun begins. Liverpool will feel they have to beat us, as they will not want to be 8 points behind. So, if we keep our shape, I fancy disappointing them, even if it means a draw. Could be nail in coffin for the Liverpool as far as 4th is concerned.

Would just like to see us play the players who care, and aren't knackered.

    Rafael-----Jones------Rojo------Shaw
    ----------Carrick-----Herrera---------
    Valencia---------Mata-----------Young

We will win this but we need to win an away match after to get some momentum going. At the moment we win a home game, play shit away and then struggle for confidence before playing a poor home game and scraping a win then playing worse in the next away game. Sunderland and Newcastle are the next two I think. Beat them both.
