    I know it is our attacking players that should get the credit for that half but is it any coincidence we always play better and with more freedom when Carrick is shielding the defense and spraying passes forward, even if some of them have gone array today.
     
    12 attempts on goal! Surely a record for the season and it's only half time.
     
    We've scored two goals in the first half at home and are pressing them high up the pitch...what the feck is happening?!
     
    Somebody needs to start a thread about the fact that Giggsy is missing and we suddenly tear a team apart in the first half, scoring in the first half for the first time in 4 months in the league...Is Giggs the issue, not Van Gaal ? Followed by 90 pages of decent comments

    Much better today however this doesn't seem at all like the PHILOSOPHY or any possession based football I've seen. Credit to LVG for changing the style and working on the attack.

    That was great. Quick attacking football. Just shows what they can do when they are allowed to play their natural attacking game.

    I think LVG has given the players more freedom to be honest. He has had them in shackles all season with instructions. Now it seems to me anyways he has just told them to go out and play. But wtf knows what has happened.
     
    Brilliant for the first 30 minutes or so. Second goal is the best we've scored in a good while! We've let Stoke get into dangerous positions a bit too easily since making it 2-0 though.

    I'd like to see us control the game a bit more now that we have the lead. A bit of keep ball could tire them out and possibly pull their defence forward to give us more space in behind.
     
    Stoke haven't been great but why haven't we done what we're good at all season. We'd be in the top 2 if we had have played properly. Hopefully we see more good things in the second half.
     
    You can just feel that the players are much more comfortable with this, Mata is actually playing like Mata would, Rooney looks good and Martial :drool: what a talent he is.

    So many big changes tactically and philosophically.

    1. More 433 style formation than the 4231 we were playing
    2. Fullbacks are actually bombing forwards and taking risks.
    3. We are playing counter attacking style, quickly moving the ball into dangerous positions.

    Not at all... The difference is we've actually made chances, have more shots in 45 minutes then we usually do in the whole game, and also aren't obsessed with possession in this game (48% I think). And look, we're looking better at both ends of the pitch playing a counter attacking game then whatever the feck we did the past year.
     
    Considering I reside in Stoke and they've all been giving it the big one for the past two days, I'm really glad we've turned it on a little bit. Going to order a curry so they can smell the bs coming from my arse to go along with that from my mouth. Fecking Stoke fans!
