We played well, arguably very well until about the half an hour mark. Then we started sinking back bit by bit. I don't know if we had the idea to play on the counter but there were three or four times when we tried to break up to half way and had nobody in the Stoke half. That being said they scored by capitalising on our first real defensive mistake. Fellaini went down, still not sure why, and the rest of the players got attracted to the ball. We've been the better side but there are no points for moral superiority. We need to go out there and win this.

Shit half really. Kept possession well but nobody making runs forward. RvP and Wilson are both pretty invisible for the most part. Herrera's been good with his pressing and had the assist, but his passing has been off. Just a bit of a nothing half.

Stoke weren't threatening really either, they got lucky with the goal as Fellaini had it but then got injured and they took the ball like that.

RvP and Wilson are totally invisible. Rooney is badly missed.

The only pace in the side is from Young.

Guarantee no subs at half time.

The most disappointing thing about that game was that if the players could really just step it up, we'll be out of sight by now. I don't know why we like to make it difficult all the time. And how has Herrera and Mata been on the pitch for 45 minutes and they haven't managed to create a single goal scoring chance?

Hopefully Van Gaal will now put a rocket up their arses and tell them not to switch off just because they've nicked an early goal. Dropping points in this fixture would be a joke.

It's so clear during our buildup that we're sort of seeking openings, then exploding with lots of first touch passes. Which is great to see, and will probably get better over time. That being said, though, after the goal we did seem a bit shit. Is Herrera tired after his last game? He also played a U21 match not too long ago, might also be one of the reason to his shit game ..?

Also, Fellaini is getting slightly more comfortable with each game, which is great to see.

Stale, frustrating football. Lots of possession, no end product. Mata and Van Perse particularly invisible. Get Falcao on asap please.

Got a feeling we won't have enough tonight, has a feeling of 'one of them nights'

Fellaini bashing aside, irrelevant of whether it was a foul (not seen a clear replay yet), if a player goes down with something that could potentially be a head injury the ref should stop the game. They always seem to when it's us who are attacking anyway

Looked a fairly straightforward foul to me which is why I didnt say anything, everyone was already up in arms about it.

I just dont understand why he was holding his neck.

As for the ref stopping the game, its on their own judgement and I expect he knew it wasn't a head injury because it was a knee scrape. So you can see why he'd continue if he didnt think it was a foul.

Has anyone else noticed how so many of our are players this season are really physically weak? Mata, Herrera, Wilson and Young all get jostled off the ball way too easily.

One positive is that Smalling's passing has been excellent the last two and a half games.

We created enough chances but we have completely lost the rhytm from the Hull match. Granted, Stoke are a much better side at keeping possession than Hull but that isn't an excuse for the amount of times Herrera, Mata and Fellaini have lost the ball. Add to that we got completely screwed by our shaky defense again. Shame Rooney is out, we could do with him tonight.

Has to be far better in the second half or we're dropping points

Too much pointless possession, not enough cutting edge.

Agreed re: the Wilson/ RVP off for Falcao calls - at least he's hopefully going to be sharper up front.

Please no more dropped points that could be avoided. LVG don't let me down. Glen Johnson beat this shower for crying out loud.

Get rooney out of the stands and back in his jersey for the 2nd half

passing hasnt been good at all... rvp again making runs and no one is seeing them or has the bravery and skill to pic the pass towards him. would like to see more aggression and urgency in the second half

Can definitely see Falcao on for either Wilson (likely) or RVP (less likely) and Januzaj for Mata.

And Roger Federer for Herrera, just in case anybody's paying attention to me.

It isn't over yet ffs. It will be terrible if it stays like this though.

I know, I was being dramatic. Start the second half like we did the first and we'll create more chances. Stoke obviously will now sit back even more though I'd imagine.

Can't believe our injury crisis. Even that stoke goal is because somehow the injury god managed to do it to fellaini. Else he will probably be around nzonzi and that may not happen.

Bring in Falcao, Wilson couldnt even controling the ball.
Who suggest this kid? Still too raw.

Apart from back luck we've been solid in defense and midfield (Carrick and Fellaini). As for attack Herrera, Mata, Wilson and RVP creating nothing for others or themselves.

    Very disappointing.

He was playing under the same manager at his old club.... that still doesn't explain why last season he wasn't able to do basic things like pass the ball and move around.
Yep, but he still had to integrate with an entire new team of players, and it's not like Moyes got United to play the same football he had been playing at Everton. In general, there's a lot of new stuff for players to adapt to when they move clubs (even within the same league), and moving at a time of turmoil like last season at United can't help. Not excusing how badly he did, but it is a reasonable explanation.

Lack of Rooney especially evident tonight. He offers so much to our team.

Quicker, better passing, Falcao to come on sooner than later.

Completely dominated possession, but we need to do more with the ball. Stoke haven't been in this game, scored a well taken goal out of nothing. Fellaini has been good, Herrera has been poor.

The most disappointing thing about that game was that if the players could really just step it up, we'll be out of sight by now. I don't know why we like to make it difficult all the time. You mean apart from our goal?
