Age shouldn’t come into it in my opinion. If a 16 year old shows better technical ability, footballing IQ and positioning on the pitch, why not try him out over someone 4 years older who’s not shown quite the same. If they’re ready, they’re ready.

Managing younger players and integrating them in to the first team squad, bench and line up is a skill I trust Ten Hag and his staff with. Not the Caf ‘Einsteins’. It’s not football manager.
A psychologist would have a field day with this. The player was one of the best players in the world for over a decade and is in decline physically and struggling to adapt mentally. to that.
You ban a player of his stature in the game for obvious discontent / disrespect ( the list can go on) - right call, no one should deny that
If he's put the shift in in training, do you play him and challenge him to show he is worth the space - or bring him back but still keep him on the bench
I think ETH has made the right call. Ronaldo was dropped and fined, had a chat and now show him there are hard feelings but he needs to prove it on the pitch.

I know you’re getting stick for it but I agree with you. If Sancho’s out of form and you’re hooking him at minute 78, why not give the kid a go? I think we can all agree that while Elanga is a nice player, it appears his ceiling is fairly low. How do we know that? We saw him play in the first team. Only way we find out what Garnacho is about is giving him minutes off the bench or starts in games such as this one. I think he’s a huge talent and hope he does well today.Asian Handicap odds has us needing to win by 3 goals or more. I think that's crazy considering our performance thus far..

Very few 16 Year olds have the physicality or maturity to cope with playing first team football.
In all honesty alot of 18year olds struggle aswell.
It's only normally very special players that can cope and have a genuine impact.

I get what you are saying, but 16-year olds aren't close to being completely physically developed. Would be nice to see a small cameo from time to time, (I'm also guilty of wanting to see a high-IQ player like Iqbal over the limited McTominay and Fred) but it takes patience. Especially in a physically demanding league as the EPL. Even a megatalent like Greenwood took some time before he was ready physically (post-covid break). As for Garnacho - by all accounts he was the player guilty of being late a couple of times in the summer. Who knows if that set his introduction back a couple of months.
