I think it will be called off. There's no way the universe will accept Cristiano Ronaldo playing in the Europa League.

Wait are they actually contemplating cancelling this over the possible passing of the Queen? nggggggggggggg

This can't be called off now, especially as this rounds' fixtures have already kicked off.

Doubt there'll be any domestic football this weekend though, assuming what people expect is happening happens.

Scared we're gonna go backwards tonight especially with Maguire coming back in. Not looking forward to it. I wanna forget that old defence and move on.... Maguire is gonna need to be perfect tonight and score for him to even get a glimmer of hope from me.

No chance. What are they going to do? Send 70k people packing on short notice and tell Real to go home?

6pm has been and gone. UEFA should tell the UK authorities to go feck themselves if they get a call now, or do that thing where you feign that the signal is bad and you can’t hear them

It would be entirely appropriate to call off tonight's game, if an announcement of the Queen's passing is made, possibly at 6pm.

Issues around rearranging fixtures, travelling fans, refunds etc, are of no significance in comparison with what this impending event signifies.

It's 2022, who the feck cares?

Damn. I forgot about that. Hope it doesn't get cancelled.

People are going without food or heat daily, some of them children and this is what you think is the priority. Some people are born to be ruled.

What’s this talk about cancelling, what did I miss?

edit: because of the queen, seriously? What does that have to do with it?

No one called off any footy the weekend after 9/11, when 3000 people died.
People die all the time, it happens, she was really old.

What are you on about? When has anything like this happened after a politician’s death? I don’t want to be insensitive but this makes no sense to me whatsoever.

I can’t see tonight’s game being cancelled. There will be a minutes silence of course and this weekends fixtures across the whole UK will be postponed.

They just made an announcement on BT, followed by 5 seconds of silence, then back to business

It's too late to call it off

It will be the first public minutes silence I think? Along with West Ham

Aren't lineups normally submitted 90 minutes prior for European matches?

    A minute's silence ahead of kick-off
United's clash with Real Sociedad will go ahead as normal tonight, and there will be a minute's silence ahead of kick-off in honour of Queen Elizabeth II.

Better enjoy this, lads, no footy until the 2nd of October after that. :( And it's against City.
Pardon my ignorance since I'm not from the UK but why does today's game or the league games that follow need to be called off due to the Queen's passing? Surely people can pay their respects and continue life as normal?

PS: Not sure if this is sarcasm.
