The thing is, after failing to take advantage of the good football we played in the opening half hour of the first half, I felt that if we went in 0-0 at half time that eventually we would peter out and the game would grind to a halt. I'm just thinking, imagine if we qualified and were drawn against a proper counter attacking side - like a Barca, Real, PSG or Bayern. We'd play some dilly-dallying fancy possession based football until the final third, then cut to smithereens each time.

A midfielder can play well in a midfield which is being outran on the counter. When we are camped in their half and they are blitzing out with numbers into space, you can't be blaming that on one midfielder.
