It's happened a few times in the PL also. A defender gets his foot in the way of the kicking player and the free kick goes to the defender. Seems counterintuitive because one player is trying to score a goal and the other is trying to initiate the contact. Yet It's the player who's gets his foot in the way is rewarded.
