Let’s rotate and keep fresh for the league game. Should have enough to beat these with a few fringe players starting.

No idea what these guys are like but if we don't win I'd say we can forget about progressing to the knockout stage

PAOK have got plenty of European matches under their belt this season.
In the third Qualifying round in the Champions league they lost 6-5 on AGG v Malmo and the previous round they beat Borac of Bosnia 4-2 on AGG

In the Europa league this season they beat Irish club Shamrock Rovers 2-0 away and 4-0 at home to reach the group stages.

    Three group games.

2-2 v Viktoria Plzen ( scored on the 84th and 93rd minute to earn a draw)
1-0 defeat v Steaua București. ( 28 v 6 in shots and 65% possesion in favour of PAOK)
3-1 defeat v Galatasaray (Jose side goals included OG and 95th minute goal to seal the win)

    ……………………....Onana
    ………Lindelof..De Ligt..Martinez
    Mazroui…Ugarte…Casemiro…Garnacho
    ……………..Bruno………Zirkzee
    ……………………Hojlund

Let’s just give it a go!

Not sure if anyone else is fit to replace Lindelof and I think in that role Zirkzee might prosper with his passing which is good when on form. If not maybe Amad for his drive and ball control.

PAOK is the Leeds of Greece.

    Everyone hates them. Nasty fans.

We really ought to beat them, but with positions 9-24 getting a knockout in this new format, there is a lot of chance of progressing.

True. Though that would mean a couple of extra games against the same kind of opposition we've already failed to beat 3 times out of 3 so far - so definitely not a gimme. And the top 8 teams are separated in the last 16 - drawn against the 8 winning teams from that extra knockout round, and with the top 8 teams at home in the second leg. So, unless lucky, teams are likely to have a tougher draw in the last 16 if you have to go through the knockout.

So plenty of reasons why it's much better to finish in that top 8 rather than have to do it the hard way.

Shola Shoretire moved to PAOK in the summer will be interesting to see if he plays this one.

EtH is gone now, we will be fine.

Just had a quick look at the PAOK squad, they've got some real throwback players on the books. Dejan Lovren, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Johnny Otto & Baba Rahman along with some ex-FM wonderkids in Andrija Zivkovic & Kiril Despodov.

I really hate this new format for the Europa. Most of the games already feel like dead rubbers. And the fact that its a new pairing every week just adds to this lack of any purpose. Its like being forced to play friendlies until the knockout phase.

It'll get interesting once it gets nearer to the end. We'll lament the Twente result I'm sure.

Spoke to a Greek friend and he told me P.A.O.K. have some good players and could be dangerous. Also watched a lot of United games and he is not impressed.

Really should be beating them. I'm hoping we rest players for the weekend but I'd Imagine Ruud will be wanting two big wins to sign off on.

    I'd play:

    -------------------------------------Onana---------------------------------
    Maz ------------------Evans--------------Lindelof----------------Dalot
    --------------------------Eriksen-------------Casemiro-----------------
    Anothony-------------------------Zirkzee----------------Amad
    ----------------------------------------Hojlund--------------------------------

For me, that should have plenty to get through this one but keep players fresh for the weekend. Hojlund to come off after an hour for Rashford.

Isn't Eriksen injured? Also Antony only just came back into training and I think last game we had the full backs the other way round and it worked better.

Not a chance we see rotation like that - Ruud will be looking to stabilize and claim a few results on his CV surely he will play the usual team, same as last week.

The club was established by Greek refugees from Istanbul/Constantinople who fled to Thessaloniki after the Greco-Turkish war of 1919-1922. The letter K (=Constantinople/Istanbul) indicates the roots of the people who founded the club. The letter P (=All-Thessalonician, meaning that the club is open to everyone), as well as the name of the city after the abbreviation used by UEFA, tells where the club is from. It's the same with AEK Athens, where the K also stands for Constantinople.

    Cheers for that.

Nice to see these two ancient enemies find common ground.

    Mot sure about Erikesn.

I agree Rudd will go stronger than my suggestion for his CV. Two big wins for him will set him up nicely.

There are no easy games for this team. And United can't afford to drop anymore points. Must go all out here. Hopefully, Diallo starts.
