I'm so damn nervous. /the lads need to concentrate and do their jobs and try not to get overwhelmed with the reception for Ronaldo. They have their jobs to do.

    Great line up.
    That front 4
Hopefully they will link up well and score some goals!
    Lets go!!!

Surely the lateness made Ole prepare with Matic to start and just cause they give them allowance to play, doesn't mean Ole didn't make his mind up already. If this wasn't looming over head all week, he would have been started imo.
It's Newcastle at home, so I doubt it's down to that. After his performance against Wolves he doesn't deserve to start anyway . Although Matic is not much of an upgrade, he's better than Fred alongside Pogba in a midfield 2.

I think part of our issues has been pushing up including the FBs and leaving the CHs/one MFer exposed.

Varane will help (we saw that with the way he calmly shepherded Traore wide last game) and the FBs can watch each other and alternate. With that front five, we shouldn't need both FBs pushing up together.

Get the balance of defence (Matic plus three defenders) v offence (front five plus one FB), and we could be some team.

Maybe. Then again yeah, its better to see how Matic can do, but like you said, not much of an upgrade but lets see how today goes. Just can't wait for McTominay to be fit and playing again.

he’s no less mobile than cavani. he simply won’t try taking people on like he used to. he will move the ball and run without it, do the damage in the box.

Hopefully, Ronaldo gets subbed off after his hattrick and we bring Carvani on.

    Prefer this?

I think it'll be a three man midfield but not got an option on the graphic for that... yet.

    Interwebs :wenger:

Why do you think that? We have had many games with Pogba and Matic in midfield two and Bruno as #10? I reckon we would start like that again.

Sidenote: Excellent from United Twitter to put Sancho's picture for the lineup.

Lets not forget this is his first OT start

Yes , everyone else has naturally been overshadowed by Ronaldo , but as you say it is Sancho's first start at OT , hopefully he can steal some of the limelight today with a good performance, he needs something to kick start his Utd career.

That's obviously much better, just need the CAF to take control of the clubs socials as well
Nice thing about the front three is they can interchange. Might start out as Ronaldo left, Greenwood up top and Sancho right but Ronaldo likes going central, Sancho likes the left and Greenwood can play on the right fine.

Wonder if Fred would have started had it not been for all that ban nonsense

For whatever reason, Ole has preferred Fred+Mctominay and Pogba+Matic midfield combinations. I think Fred's absence could be due more to do with Mctominay being unavailable.

Hopefully McSauce is ready to feature a few minutes on Tuesday already. Him and Fred are obviously our best (least bad) combination.

Makes my blood boil what happened to the Shakers. I've got some great memories of watching Bury back in the day when they had players like Greg Farrell, Bobby Collins, and George Jones. It was one of the few grounds that you could walk around to the opposite end at half-time. Good pies too.

Yeah it had a massive impact on the community. One of my mates who went to every game actually moved out of the area shortly after, Bury was one of the main reasons he was still there.

Can't take anyone who says the football league cares about the lower league clubs seriously now.

I’m going for 6-1; an absolute hammering for Newcastle awestruck by Ronaldo who duly obliges and runs amok with a hattrick. Greenwood *2 and a goal for Fernandes. Pogba with another 4 assists and Sancho with 2. :wenger:

It says Cavani in the Caf line-up instead of Ronnie, I've lost a point!:lol: only one i missed was I thought Lingard might start over Sancho.

Yeah, that was a nice choice, considering the... circumstances.

Not sure what I’m more excited about, Ronaldo in the starting lineup or Fred finally dropped… Let’s go boys!

What’s a man goto do to get a game. I think we sell Donny in January and buy a DM. If Ole isn’t going to pick him what’s the point?

Not that surprising. Was it the last match when Ole brought on Lingard rather than bring on DVB?

If the coaching staff don't have confidence in DVB then fair enough but why destroy someone's career? He could have been sold or loaned out.

We need an eletric start and the crowd to be loud from the beginning!! Early goal and it could be 5 or 6.

    I've gone for 4-0.
