I don't think anyone wants youth to be playing just because they're from the academy. They have to be good enough or have the potential to be, anyway. I, and I think most people who've seen McTominay - even for the U23s - have never seen much potential in him, and he certainly isn't good enough to be keeping our other CMs out of the team.
