Never a dull moment. Was that the old Ayresome Park?

It was. Nobby Stiles was playing for Boro too. We ended up playing Stoke in the 6th round and got dumped out after a replay. It all kicked off at the Victoria Ground that night. We were sick of Stoke. They beat us in the League Cup after two replays and then we got them in the FA Cup.

I don't know if you remember this but we went up there for a league game in 1980. There was some trouble at the game and the police kept us all inside after the whistle. We took a lot of support there that day and the more the police pushed us back from the gate, the more angry the crowd became. I remember a huge surge forward (I was way the back) and heard a rumble as a wall collapsed. I belive a couple of middle-aged Boro fans who were standing on the other side of it were killed but it was a real madhouse. I'd forgotten much about that day until just now.

I don't remember, but I can imagine policing then was act first think later.

Away fans were usually always kept penned in until the police had dispersed the home fans. It worked most of the time and there was always an announcement on the tannoy about staying put after the whistle. Not every club did it though. In grounds where an end was divided between home and away - like Upton Park or Maine Road, the coppers diverted the supporters outside the ground on the way out.

Classical example of game raising cnuts. One year they ruined my Christmas. Another time Mendieta turned into peak Zidane. Then Afonso Alves scored his only two goals in England against us on a snowy afternoon. And then a LVG snorefest in the cup where we got eliminated on pens after failing to score in 120 mins.
I was on a choir tour to Holland at the time and watched it in a bar in Noordwijk. Turned out LvG's flat was just round the corner.

There was an awful FA Cup replay at Old Trafford a few years earlier; maybe the one when we lost the final to Chelsea. We scraped past them 1-0, but it was an atrocious performance among a load of really good ones.

Gosh. I must have been further back than you; we didn't hear anything but I remember walking past the remains of the wall and hearing someone say that a Boro fan had been killed.

We stopped at a surprisingly friendly pub out in the sticks on the way back.

It was a low rumble and a lot of shouting. People were shoving back and forth but that was normal back then. Heard later that people had been killed and United fans got blamed for it in the papers. I remember the coppers being heavy handed but what's new?

Only thing that would excite me about this machine is if Greenwood starts as a striker

Isn't Cavani playing in South America a few days before? It might happen.

Would be nice to see an exciting interchangeable front 3 of Elanga, Greenwood and Rashford start together. I don't think that has happened so far this season.

I have a feeling Donny will get a start here if he doesn't go to Palace on loan.. Everyone will expect Donny to be on the bench but I can see a massive shock out of left-field with Rangnick handing him crumbs from the Top Table with a start against lower League opposition (not to underestimate them but it gives Rangnick the perfect opportunity to use the squad and give certain players much needed starts and game time).

Maybe Jesse Lingard and Dean Henderson will start here too. Rangnick with his man-management will try to get them inside and show they are still important and needed for the rest of the season by starting them all here, as you don't want them sulking and bringing the dressing room mood down..

Will be interesting who does play. South American players will not likely be available for a game on Friday evening, depending when they have played. DVB might be out on loan. Martial has gone out already. Heavens know where Lingard will be.

It's only Middlesborough. Our U23s should beat them.

Whoever plays United should win. Comfortably

Assuming Greenwood gets suspended by the club, and VdB/Lingard leave before the window shuts.

Cant see any of the South Americans starting.

    Henderson
    AWB - Lindelof - Maguire - Shaw
    Matic
    McTominay - Pogba
    Sancho - Rashford - Elanga

With all the outgoing loans and Greenwood situation, it will be interesting to see who can play this game. With a game in Tuesday to follow shortly afterwards the likes of Pogba, Lingard and Sancho need to have a better 2nd half of the season.

In the entire history of football, there has never been a more sexual match than man utd vs middlesborough. I was 7 years old when I went to go see man utd play middlesborough in 96/97, the match; and keane goal awoke something in my body. For some reason, my tiny penis became stiff, and I began peeing uncontrollably. A full bladders worth of piss soaking through my beckham printed shorts, trickling down the chair. My dad noticed the smell and berated me "you are pissing yourself again ffs?!?" he tried to get me to go to the bathroom, but I screamed and shouted to keep on watching the game. I began spraying even more boy piss at him, and on some other members of the crowd. stewards came in to take me to the bathroom, I began pissing even harder and started shitting furiously. "Nooooooooo I wanna see if we can win it, ole is coming on" I'd scream in between leaky shits and blasts of piss. Eventually, it took 5 stewards, my dad, and a few bystanders to remove me from the stadium, and get me to change my soiled clothing.

im really looking forward to this game, this is the first year ive been allowed back in OT

Ronaldo has a history with Middlesbrough. After a 1-0 win in the FA Cup in 2007, Geoff Shreeves asked Ronaldo 5 questions about a penalty incident. (It was a clear pen) Ronaldo replied, "It's always Middlesborough, maybe someone thinks I'm too good." Ferguson had a right go at Shreeves after the interview, told him to F off.

    :lol::lol::lol::lol:

Also the Morrison tackle was basically assault.. could've ended Ronny's career right there The Cnut!

EDIT: Southgate was the manager of Middlesborough back then too!

Ronny was such a magician back then:

Don't get me wrong he's way more clinical and efficient\polished now but the unpredictable less Polished dribbling Ronny was legendary and like the sign said.. the Best since Best! Was a sight to behold seeing Ronny in his pomp

Coming up to the anniversary of the Busby Babes. I wonder if Duncan Edwards would be anything like Ronny was/is.. I've heard so many great stories about him he was apparently a beast of a man with calves like tree trunks like Ronny.. a crying tragedy and shame we never got to see him fulfil his potential (and ironic so close to the tragedy/disaster that Greenwood now won't fulfil his potential now for completely different reasons what a waste the Busby Babes would be looking down shaking heads ashamed)

Elanga - Ronaldo - Sancho, with Rashford as a sub is what I'm hoping to see now.

Still the best version of Ronnie in my opinion - such an impact on games

our only realistic opportunity to win a cup this season. We should play our full strength team

    Don't think Pogs is ready.

Sounds a bit cautious but I wouldn't play Ronaldo nor Cavani.

Elanga Rashford Sancho as a front 3 will do the business maybe with Hannibal involved.

Pretty sure he goes on to say that he ran over 50 yards to get involved before it cuts out

Going from memory so I might be wrong.
Ok, I thought it was understandable what Rooney did. He saw a cruel tackle that could end someone's football future and he was angry.

Mejbri now training with the first team permanently. Was offered the opportunity of a holiday but decided against it to come and train with the team. Would like to see him on the bench and come on at some point, has impressed for his country recently and deserves some recognition.

No chance Cavani and Fred start this game considering that they will return 2(?) days before the game.
Henderson, AWB, Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw, Matic, McT, Bruno, Sancho, Rashford, Elanga.

Pogba and Hannibal from the bench, hopefully.

    ---------------------Heaton
    AWB-----Lindelof--Jones-----Shaw
    ------------Matic--------Mejbri
    Sancho-------Bruno------Rashford
    ----------------Ronaldo

Mata to come on for Bruno if/when the game is comfortable.
