At this point it's surely him just being scared of upsetitng the dressing room by dropping 2 of the most influential players. Surely no one can be stupid enough to just continue picking them after 15 or so games just hoping they play themselves into form. Unfortunately, it seems like ETH just has no balls.
People keep going back to the Ronaldo thing but ultimately a lot of the squad didn't like playing with him. That came from multiple reliable resources. If anything, he was appeasing the dressing room by benching him.
To be fair, everyone knows what Rashford is like when he doesn't get his way. There's none of that fight to get back into the squad - just a load of PR and leaks from his team.
