They've scored a total of 5 in their last 7 away games, 3 of those came at Leeds.

Good time to play them or are they due a few goals?
Game raisers aren’t they! I expect the Yeti to do some damage and then others to miraculously find form. That being said, I’d love a really good United performance and win and our recent form suggests it’s a good time to play them.

Still can’t see how Ten Hag won’t play Bruno/Eriksen/Casemiro in midfield. I think Casemiro on his own can do a job to be fair. We won’t control possession for the whole game so everyone will have to work their socks off and hit them on the break.

I think Haaland's goals have been papering over their cracks. Favourites for every cup tournament last season and reached no finals. Almost even threw away the league at the last minute. City are miles away from the juggernaut they once were. Cycles innit. Manchester will soon be red again.

Pep went the wrong route over the past couple of years imo in terms of reloading the squad. He chose to go with the traditional 9 but these midfielder type inverted playmaker wingers, when I thought City at their best in recent history had Sane and Sterling scorching teams and providing runners for that midfield.

Most excited I've been for a derby in what feels like many years. Obviously gonna be there tempted to start pre drinking now.

Just don't want us to get smashed like last time - that was brutal
We need a performance like the second halve against them. Game of 2 halves. We need to take the game to them straight from the first minute.

He may play those 3 plus Fred to try to get more energy/pressing in midfield.
Bruno on the right wing is something EtH has tried a few times

Its like that game never happened for me. I was at a funeral so I didnt watch it and subsequently disnt watch any of the match reviews/podcast for the following days.

I think we will beat them.

Yeah quite possibly. I just also can’t see him dropping Antony as he’s a constant threat and against a struggling Cancelo it could be key.

Erm...you implying that now is too early? No one told me!

I reckon we'll be well up for this, the lads will surely looking for revenge here.

We play like a real team with real ideas now, so I’m hoping it’s a good contest. City hasn’t looked impressive lately so we could win this. I say a draw.

Would take a draw IF we can win at Arsenal and obviously beat Palace next Wednesday as well. Ideally they don't beat Spurs on Sunday either.

Honestly you're just being silly, if you don't want to believe him that's fine. It's bizarre because you're so naieve to think he'd outright make something up just because he's a rival player

As for being pissy, that's rich coming from the guy escalating debates by saying others have a shit post.

That's not what naive means. Also you're acting like you aren't starting fights for no reason and I am??

    I'm not acting like anything.

(of a person or action) showing a lack of experience, wisdom, or judgement. --> naive.

I used it correctly - cheers.

Would love us to go toe to toe with them. Not even that fussed if we lose, just want a close game where we give it a go!

If we go toe to toe with them, we'll likely get humiliated.
The best strategy against a superior team is to stifle them.
I do remember though when we played them with Ole at the helm. They won the 1st half and in the 2nd half, they refused to give us the ball and we simply didn't have the skill to take the ball off of them.

If we can get a draw, it would be a good result and we'd still score a point.
    I expect to lose.

This must be the most positive we've gone into a Manchester Derby for years and years.

So we'll probably lose, but feck it, whatever happens I'm sure we'll compete.

I've noticed that the caf are bullish for this one (probably because we have generally lost very few matches this season). Only 25% of people are predicting a loss.

Probably reflects our performance over the last 11 seasons or so against them at OT (since that dreaded 1-6 defeat in 2011) - 2 wins, 2 draws, 7 defeats.
That’s depressing didn’t think it was that bad, the 2 wins must be the LVG victory in that run of games at the end of his first season, and the Ole 2-0 just before Covid?

Thinking back we’ve had a bit of joy at their ground in the same time off the top of my head:
    - Rashford 1-0 when he burst onto the scene
    - 3-2 comeback to spoil them winning the title
    - RvP extra time winner
    - Shaw goal game to end their streak
    - Rashford and Martial (another Ole one)

If Martial is out, I’d just slot Elanga in to the plan, keeping everyone in preferred positions and roles, and Garnacho back in reserve as a great impact sub, because he’s superb at making a difference from the bench.

Ah feck me, is Martial a doubt?

It is sort of a must win for us if we want to make tittle race interesting.

A draw and were still in it, but need to make sure we take points off Arsenal. 20 games left after Saturday. A lot to play for.

    Please no Elanga

Yeah still a long way to go which is actually intriguing in terms of how ETH will set us up for this. Would be still be thinking about the 6-3 and be a bit cautious? Would be unlike him I guess

    Elanga?! :wenger:

If Elanga starts we have no hope

    ...................... De Gea
    Wan Bissaka Varane Martínez Shaw
    ....... Eriksen Casameiro Fred
    .. Antony....... Bruno....... Rashford...

I wouldn't be surprised to see Bruno as a false 9. It would allow us to play a more defensive midfielder (Fred) and he seems to really like Casameiro and Eriksen. Plus with Martial being out, I don't see too many more options.

    Martial's out? Is this confirmed?
