The team will be up for this, players like Rojo, Herrera, Mata love big games so i'm pretty confident. But then again so was i against Arsenal and they beat us.

    Going with a solid 1-0.

A once in a bluemoon victory from a gifted goal, we were even the better side with 10 men.

First derby for about 3 seasons that I'm optimistic about. They've won 5 of the last 6, and generally have outplayed us mostly. Thing is they are not that dynamic as they used to be and with nothing really to play for I think we can really get into them. The stadium will be buzzing and we're hitting good strides. Today individually wasn't too much to write about, but we still controlled the game which is very good. As well as this, it's almost roles reverse in that their departments are looking quite disjointed and need of a fresh start, whereas ours are coming into their own. It'll no longer be the case where it feels like we have 12 year olds up against Toure too!

For some reason I am not confident about this match at all despite our recent run of form. They always seem to have our number recently regardless of form.

Recent League results v Man City:

    2014/15:

Man City 1-0 Man United (Aguero)

    2013/14:

Man United 0-3 Man City (Dzeko x2, Toure)
Man City 4-1 Man United (Aguero x2, Toure, Nasri; Rooney)

    2012/13:

Man United 1-2 Man City (Milner, Aguero; Jones)
Man City 2-3 Man United (Toure, Zabaleta; Rooney x2, van Persie)

    2011/12:

Man City 1-0 Man United (Kompany)
Man United 1-6 Man City (Fletcher; Balotelli x2, Dzeko x2, Aguero, Silva)

    2010/11:

Man United 2-1 Man City (Nani, Rooney; Silva)
    Man City 0-0 Man United

    2009/10:

Man City 0-1 Man United (Scholes)
Man United 4-3 Man City (Rooney, Fletcher x2, Owen; Barry, Bellamy x2)

    2008/09:

Man United 2-0 Man City (Ronaldo, Tevez)
Man City 0-1 Man United (Rooney)

    2007/08:

Man United 1-2 Man City (Carrick; Vassel, Benjami)
Man City 1-0 Man United (Geovanni)

I expect Aguero to score. He always does against. We just need to make sure we score more.

Two best on form going head to head. We were unlucky at the Etihad and if not for the Smalling red, we might have got something.

City always turn up against us. I can't see anything other than a City win, but i'll go 2-1 United out of blind loyalty,

    I'm of the opposite opinion.
I cant see how City will beat us.

In the last few months, we have lost under the following circumstances:
    1. if we go a man down (Leicester, Man City, Arsenal)
    2. our opponent park the bus and hit us on the break (Southampton)
    3. we pass the ball to an opposing striker (Wellbeck, Arsenal, FA Cup).
The odds of any/all of these happening against City are low, hence, I think it more likely that we will beat or draw with Man City. I will also say that the same applies to when we play Arsenal in a few weeks.

Just to re-iterate, its possible for any combination of 1, 2 and 3 occurring when we play Man City, but the likelihood is very low.

The only game I feel that we are in danger of losing is against Chelsea.

Not sure how we will line up on this one. Whether Di Maria or Young and how Fellaini will fit into that. Personally, i'd prefer we line as against Villa.

That's true, we are tough to beat. It will be close, if we do win it won't be more than a goal i don't think. I'm just never confident going into derbies, and haven't been since about 2009.

    Same team please.

No need to tamper with the Young-Blind-Fellaini and Mata-Valencia-Herrera triangles.

Our football has been so fluid over the last few games, I'm expecting a win at OT.

I actually really want to see Young starting. I think he provides much better defensive balance and I'd rather have a fresh Di Maria coming on to run at tired defenses.

Same team please. For me, can't remember the last time I've looked forward to a derby game as this one....

A good performance in a draw won't be too bad to take for me. We're a team still in transition.

Di Maria instead of Young and Smalling instead of Jones are the changes that I would like to see. Hoping and thinking that we'll win this.

Surprisingly City have won just 4 of their last 13 games in all competitions, including defeats in 4 of their last 6. We are long overdue a win against them at OT.

    Mata Rooney Di Maria

    Let's win!

Same team but bring in Smalling for Rojo in my opinion. I like Rojo a lot but I think our play from the back goes on the risky side with him in the team. He takes usually 1 more touch than needed and invites pressure in our half. He's good going forward in their half but in our half I panic when he's on the ball. Plus Jones and Smalling did a good job before so unfair to break them up when both fit.

we're due a fecking win against them, especially at OT. Beat them and top 4 is secured IMO. I expect Di Maria to start ahead of Young and Smalling instead of Jones. Perfect time for us to meet them, they've been shit lately and we've been good. 0-1 City.

 Be just like it to happen that way.

    2-0

    De Gea
    Young Smalling Jones Blind
    Carrick
    Herrera Fellaini
    Mata___Rooney di Maria

I'm sure just about everyone will disagree with me wanting to see Young at RB, but I'd risk it. He looked fine on the right against Villa when he switched flanks with Mata.

    Yes I realize Villa sucks.

I'm confident that we will win this and quite comfortably at that. By two goals.

Smalling in for Jones and that's all.

    -----------De Gea
    Valencia Jones Smalling Blind
    -----------Carrick
    -------Herrera--Fellaini
    Mata-------Rooney----Young

Only two decisions to make really. Does Smalling come straight back in for Rojo (or Jones)? Yes, in my opinion. Has looked like our best defender lately. Also, Di Maria or Young? I'm not too bothered about this one, but I'd give Young the first half and see what happens and then switch it if needed (or the other way round).

Yea, I think Valencia is without doubt the "weakest link" right now in the first XI. For all his pace and strength he just doesn't seem to be consistent enough to not be replaced sooner rather than later. He seem to have a habit of making brain farts just like against Arsenal, and I just don't trust him enough for games like this.

I hope that I am proved wrong and that he performs against City, for he will almost certainly be starting anyway. I would also like to see Young since I trust him doing his job, however I am a bit worried that he is physically too weak to handle Citys' offense. I agree with you that I would prefer someone else in that RB position, but I don't think it is something LvG will be willing to gamble on. However, that may certainly be something that comes back to bite us in the rear next weekend..

    2-0

    Yes I realize Villa sucks.

He looked absolutely terrible and couldn't deliver a single decent cross or dribble past his opponent once.

Smalling in place of Jones, rest remains the same, with our current form i expect better result.

Best chance to beat them in years.
First time they play us after we switched to our new formation , which will be difficult for them. They, on the other hand, play the same way they have done the last couple of years, only with key players like Touré and Kompany arguably underperforming.
Rooney has a good scoring history against them as well.

Hopefully Burnley can do us a favour as well..
