Our record at home is absolutely fantastic. Why are people so afraid of City? They are not in great form at the moment, but of course a derby means that form can go out the window. This will be a very tense/tight affair and i fully expect us to come out on top. We will press in our own half and work the fullbacks all day. City cannot properly defend set-pieces. We will look to take advantage of that. 2-1 to us.
Of course. They have only gone on and won 12 games in a row.

Of course. They have only gone on and won 12 games in a row.
Ok, ok, my point is they have not being at their best. In 4 out the last 5 games they have needed goal in the 83rd min and beyond to get the 3pts. They haven't been great since they beat Napoli. Pretty sure they have won 13 in a row.

'SpiderCam' is in action for this game.

So be prepared to not know what is going on when a corner is being taken.

I agree it won't be easy - Guardiola's system seems to be all about getting those two players in to space. I suppose it's possible that we'll drop one of the front 3 in favour of another midfielder and get Fellaini/Herrera to close him down.
By dropping one of the front three do you mean dropping one the ten and the two forwards and going with a more conventional 3-5-2 of a DM and two CMs? That's what Chelsea did against them and they will still outnumbered 3v4 there, with Fernandinho being the free man for City most of the time.

I think the only way to beat them is play our game at our pace to our strengths. Anything else will result in them picking us off after each mistake.

Midfield is the key battle. Having Harerra right now with the way he loses the ball will invite pressure. Matic and Fellaini will have a lot of work to do.

    It’s gonna be really though!

At OT, Mourinho won't be allowed to worry only about the result, and I think he would be pretty satisfied with a draw now. Without Pogba, I very much doubt he believes the team can honestly challenge City head on.

What you have described is a loser attitude, like Moyes. Luckily, Moyes is no longer managing us. You are also making out as if we are facing the best team in the World...which we are not.

Jose is a winner. He is shown this at every club he has managed.
We are at OT and Jose will set his team up to win the match. Just as he did against AFC. Just as he did against CFC (which we lost). Just as he did against Spurs.

MCFC have been getting lucky and scraping wins against poor sides. They'll come to OT. Get beat. And return to their half empty stadium.
I know that life under Moyes and LVG sucked the confidence out of many, but MUFC fans need to stop living in awe of MCFC, Pep or any other club/manager.

    Team should be...

    ---------------De Gea---------------
    Valencia--Smalling--Rojo--Young
    -------Herrera-------Matic-------
    Rashford-----Lingard-----Martial
    ---------------Lukaku---------------

Subs: Romero, Lindelof, Blind, Darmian, McTominay, Mata, Zlatan

3-5-2 would be suicide against this City side as it would mean defending with 5 at the back and being totally outnumbered in midfield. Match them up 4-3-3

I predict an exciting game for neutrals. This wont be like the Liverpool game for several reasons:

    1. A draw is a better result for City, considering their league position. Mourinho knows this.

    2. It's a home game.

    3. Pep and Mou are rivals. There's a lot of pride at stake here. Yes, Mourinho is pragmatic above all else, but he's too proud to park the bus at home in a game that's pretty much a "must win".

    -------------DDG--------------
    ---Lindelof--Smalling---Rojo---
    Valencia---------------------Young
    ---------Herrera-----Matic------
    ----Mata-------------------Martial
    ------------Lukaku--------------

SUBS - Rashford (Martial), Mata (Fellaini), Lingard (Herrera)

    Man United 1 - 2 Man City
    Martial
    Jesus, Aguero

United’s home unbeaten record of 40 games. Top it off with José’s personal Sunday home record and I’m confident we come away with at least 1 point. Hard to argue the facts and track record even with a Pogba-less lineup...Mourinho’s always figured out a way and I don’t get why anyone would count him out now.

Jose Mourinho is undefeated at home on a Sunday in the Premier League - good news for Manchester United ahead of their clash with league-leaders Manchester City this weekend.

Mourinho first took charge of a Premier League home game on a Sunday with Chelsea against Manchester United in August 2004 - claiming a 1-0 win over his current employers.

In total, he has overseen 34 Sunday fixtures on home turf, winning 22 and drawing 12 - scoring 57 goals and conceding 17.

Two of those victories and one draw were against upcoming opponents City as Chelsea boss in 2004, 2006 and 2013.

No team has scored more than two goals against a Mourinho team on a Sunday visit - with Birmingham City being the only team to score twice during a 3-2 defeat in 2007.

Mourinho recorded a league-high 15 draws last term, of which four came at home on a Sunday, winning another three.

This season, United have won both of their Sunday fixtures at Old Trafford with emphatic 4-0 scorelines, against West Ham and Everton.

While Mourinho will look to preserve his undefeated record, City will want to extend a scintillating run of form that has seen Pep Guardiola's side match a Premier League record of 13 successive league wins.

But despite City's dominance this term, their winning margins have declined in recent weeks - having won their last three fixtures from late, match-winning goals.

Will Mourinho preserve his undefeated record, or will Guardiola steamroll his side to a record-breaking 14 consecutive wins? Only one record will remain at the full-time whistle.

Yeah, I don't know if Mourinho would have been planning on playing a back three in this game, but our performances against Watford and Arsenal might have changed his mind. Either by accident or design we seemed to hit on something.
Well, I've been saying since pre-season we have a completely different dynamic, I'm almost tempted to call it a joy of play in 3-5-2 and now 3-4-1-2.

Feeling nervous before Arsenal game and it continues to this one what A week! Crucial it is to our season.

I expect them to be up for it against us, but recently they have been a bit sluggish compared to the high level they’ve maintained before. They’ve actually shown slight vulnerability.

If we can somehow get an early, or at least the first goal then that bit of doubt might just creep into the back of their minds.

I wouldn't be surprise if Martial does not start and Jose goes for the front three of Rashford, Lukaku, Lingard, with the same back 3 and Matic / Herrera in midfield. He then has Fellaini, Martial and Mata as subs to change the game, both creatively and defensively.

Remember there was a time when United got a lot of shit for scoring most of their goals late in games, guess when City are doing it, it's okay and even proof of a championship team.

City have clearly a better squad than United, but get the feeling United will be more fired up for this than City.

Usually Manchester derby's fail to live up to the hype though, the Manchester derby as been one of the most underwhelming big game derby's in England recent years, think it's got snoozefest written all over it again if I'm being honest.

    1-1.

Classic case of a double standard against United. What else is new?

City get a huge amount of penalties especially from Sterling, we will need to be careful in the box

You know you've got shite history when you're biggest legend is a knobhead musician.

    Heart says 2-1 United.

I think we will lay into them and hopefully knock them off their stride for the next few games. Our lads have hit form again at the right time and we do have home advantage. On the other hand Pogba is such a huge miss and they are flying at the minute. A draw would also be a much better result for them than us with the gap

Head says 1-1 or even 2-2

this is a must win game, even at this stage of the season an 11 point gap is huge.
The weather is going to have a big impact on the game , snow and Ice warning in place for Sunday with snow forecast to fall during the game.

Need to score the first one, then defend but be dangerous on counterattack.
Parking the bus would kill us, playing to offensively would kill us.

Last season's game at Old Trafford must have been great for the neutral viewer, it was a very entertaining and exciting game. And there was the 4-2 under Van Gaal, only a little over two years ago.

Reckon City will try to play the same game as vs Chelsea: with high pressing, a lot of possession and trying to to tire us out while patiently seeking opportunities to score. Even in the dead rubber game last night they were all over Shakhtar in the last 10 minutes. They finish games strongly. Maybe it is time to give them a test of their own medciine? Still, it would be great to score early.

Key is to offer much more in attack than Chelsea who created feck all, partly because Morata injured himself.

Think we will play the same way we did against Arsenal. Losing Pogba is a massive loss to our counter attacking abilities though, no other player can carry the ball from deep like he can.

Lingard will need to be the link, but he's historically been pretty poor against City, not sure if he tries too hard to impress being the derby. We need him to continue his good form.

Think we will have to take advantage of corners and free kicks and a moment of magic. I can't see us outplaying them right now unfortunately.
