    Hmm.

    So

    DDG
    Valencia-Jones-Smalling-Young
    Fellaini-Matic
    Rashford-Lingard-Martial
    Lukaku

Just fecking go for it:devil:. Ddg Valencia Vnl Smalling Shaw Herrera Matic Rashford Lingard Martial Lukaku. (Maybe Young deserves to play instead of Shaw. Come on you fecking Red Devils:devil::devil::devil::devil:

I find this hard to believe. If there ever was a match crying out for a midfield three it is this one.

    Please no.

We'll get outnumbered in the midfield very easily, especially with Matic and Fellaini lack of pace.

Herrera in place of Rashford or Martial and that would be ideal, otherwise I see us ending up with 15% possession.

Lingard drops deep to make it a 3 though.
That's pure pace with the ability to carry the ball, It keeps Delph and Walker back with Fetnandinho unable to push forward with KDB.
    We're going for it.

Maybe it is 4231, if it is then I'm excited that we're going for it. That's what we all wanted, right?

If we beat these cnuts I wonder if the media will stop rimming the unstoppable City and St. Pep? Somehow I don't think so...

Yeah we all want to win not see our team chasing shadows all game, mid 3 is a must, mate. Any other team I agree this could work not City though.

Who knows what he's got planned? I'm as anxious as anyone about City going forward but this place was scathing of Jose for playing it safe against Liverpool/top sides generally. It'll be a bold move, let's see if it works.

Wonder if club will deploy some strategic ‘pitch preparations’ like allowing grass to grow longer or over watering to make it heavy.

Both would make it harder for Citys fast on ground passing game.

I can't copy today. I don't usually get that excited or nervous about anything. I'm living in Abu Dhabi now and the combination of Liverpool V Everton, Utd V City, the snow potentially cancelling the game and coming back home on Thursday for Christmas is all a bit too much haha

We are playing at home so I think Mou will set us up to more offensive but he won’t be reckless. I have a feeling that Martial and Rashford will make the start.

Shaw has had 1 good game in about 2 years.
To play Shaw against the current league leaders would be sack-worthy.

    My prediction:

    De Gea

    Smalling - Jones - Rojo
    Valencia - Matic - Fellaini - Young
    Lingard
    Lukaku - Martial
Jones will have freedom to step out into midfield and track De Bruyne.

We’ll be happy to allow them into our half because we love to exploit that space in behind and they leave a lot of space when they try to make the pitch small in the opponents half.

We’ll also be looking to use that size advantage and bully them in their box.

I think it would be a mistake to line up in a 4231 in this game. Surely it needs to be a 352 or 433.

    Hmm.

    So

    DDG
    Valencia-Jones-Smalling-Young

    As I said

    Please no.

We'll get outnumbered in the midfield very easily, especially with Matic and Fellaini lack of pace.

The idea would be Lingard would be part of the midfield 3, 4-3-3 can easily be interpreted as 4-2-3-1

    Has to be 532, surely?

No it doesn't, in fact that's the last system we should play, unless we want to scrape a 0-0 of course

BTW, our defenders should be extra careful in every challenge inside the box, Sterling tends to dive often and with Oliver as a ref it'll be the easiest accomplishment for City to get a penalty today if we're not careful, especially Rojo if he plays.

Mourinho played with a midfield 2 against prime Barcelona. You don't need a midfield 3 to play against City, because you are not going to dominate possession or go through the middle.

Lingard in the no.10 with 2 holding midfielders behind is what we'll do.

    Has to be 532, surely?
Yeah. That’s where I end out.

    ......................DDG................
    ............Jones Smalling Rojo.....
    Valencia ..............................Young
    ..............Herrera Matic Fellaini
    .....................Martial...............
    .....................Lukaku..............

    Hmm.

    So

    DDG
    Valencia-Jones-Smalling-Young
    Fellaini-Matic
    Rashford-Lingard-Martial
    Lukaku

That’s about the most attacking line up he’d have fielded all season so should make his critics happy. Personally I think that team will get ripped apart.

Do know a possible lineup which would cause a massive meltdown. Something like Chelsea home last season.

    De Gea
    Smalling - Jones - Rojo
    Valencia - Matic - Fellaini - Herrera - Young
    Lingard
    Lukaku

Don't think he will bench Martial, though, and will go same as he did against Arsenal only with Jones inside.

I cant make my mind up Lindelof or Jones
Me neither ..: simply went with experience as it’s massive responsibility for a guy still finding his way, both at the club as well as searching for consistency and his top level.

Plus Jones is virtually a Manc native and so will have more empathy for the game itself

True , but Jones has not played for a while, would you put him straight in.

I'd be fine with the above team.

Regardless of what side we put out City will dominate possession. Might as well have a threat on the counter.

For all Jones’ faults, he’s never had any problem getting up to pace after any sort of layoff. He usually jumps in like he’s never been out. It’s remarkable actually.

    Indeed.

This game is all about speciation and tactics ... and will be won by the manager. So many very difficult decisions for Mourinho to make.

I suspect it’s one of these many decisions which will decide the game.

    Fascinating.

    Yeah I’ve noticed that too.

Plus he’s willing to actually break his neck with one of his floor sliding headers
