Too many passengers. There is zero killer instinct in this side.

4-4-2 Rashford and Hojlund up top as there's no use for three midfielders given Luton dropping back. Put a right sided to provide width and have Marcus as an extra option in the attack.

Joke of a halve. How Garnacho didn’t score baffles me!

Our wingers aren’t right for modern football.

Neither Rashford or Garnacho create assists. Playmaking is done from the wings these days as it protects against counters better higher up the field.

Apart from Bruno drifting wide it just doesn’t work.

Better side in that half and created big chances that the likes of Garnacho Hojlund didn't take. Luton dangerous on the counter and Onana made one good save from a header.

We have had enough chances to be ahead. Our forwards kick the ball like it's full of lead. The Garnacho 1v1 another example of them being afraid of the ball. Will probably fall to Bruno or McTominay to welly one to score here. So many players just playing within themselves. Awful to see this level of cowardice from United players, especially at home.

What the feck was that? Maguire runs half the length of the pitch, only to pass 10 yards square to Regulion behind him, who then lumps it into the box from the half way line to one man in the form of Hojlund. Is this what we do now?

We've been doing this for years. Maguire loves to make up a lot of ground only to turn back and pass square or go for the diagonal ball left. Our play regularly seems to consist of fake patient passing before someone gets itchy and launches it to the opposition.

    Not the best half.

Need better from the wings and better movement through midfield.

Take McT off, he is fecking anonymous, stick Amrabat in there and let Bruno and Mount take it forward.

Just 2 little things that they can do to score. Get every single player on the pitch near post for a corner because it will NEVER get past that point. Maybe try running in FRONT of the defenders in a cross rather then hiding behind them to see if you can get a free header, that will never come.

Another problem is so many shots go over the bar. Why do they try to hit the upper part of the goal in the first place?

Just no composure at all and not enough skill and understanding in tight spaces. We need a lot of luck for a ball to fall kindly for us on there Instead of being able to accurately pick locks.
Yep. Unless wide open or on a break, we don't look like we can score. We have no nuance or deftness to our approach play. All blunt force.

Tell me what did Rashford contribute in the 1st half. Seriously with his form, nobody will play him and hope he rediscover his form. Antony and Rashford looks exactly the same on the right which is useless. Do we have another option beside Rashford????? Time for a new manager.

The shooting/decision making in the box is horrifying.

I was shocked he didn’t pull the trigger of all players there

    Made my blood boil that.
Ref decided it was a pass to an offside player even when it wasn't so he could ignore the stamp and blow halftime. Regulion had even turn his back on the ball stating I'm not involved as i know i'm offside.

You stated it was the best chance of the match. That was nonsense, no two ways about it. The statement amounts to nothing more than a tantrum. The adult thing to do is hold your hands up and admit it was frustration, but doubling down and defending it (along with some strange deflection to the Liverpool match) means you lose all credibility when insulting the intelligence of others.
I gave you a wholeass explanation on why I thought it was the best chance so far and you come back with this?

Maybe discussion is not for you.

Every game is such a drag nowadays. Feels like the purgatory football we witnessed under Ten Hag.

This is the kind of game we should Have used to get confidence but we can’t even manage that.

    Surely ball retention/possession is over-rated.

Might be saying something controversial but goals win games. Not ball possession.

Agreed. Especially when it's not even dangerous possession. We're not getting at their backline or creating anything. We're just swinging it side to side 40 yards from goal. They'll live with that all day.

They've had about 3 minutes of cumulative possession and still had more shots on target than us, Yet we're playing like we're scared to lose the ball... to Luton!

Don't agree with the overall criticism of Garnacho here. He's been our biggest attacking threat and is consistently making good runs. His end product just hasn't been there yet. Wouldn't change anything. The team played well in 1st half. Luton are very well organised defensively. They've packed their box and are looking to counter but despite that we really should have already scored. Just need to be careful not to concede a dumb goal on the break. I think we'll score eventually

None of our players aside from Hojlund seem able to make a simple pass without 2-3 touches first. Makes breaking down this poor Luton side very difficult because we're predictable.

Gone back to the 4-1-4-1 again after a couple of games of the 2 deepest midfielders closer together and with it the slow struggle to get the ball through the lines is back. I don't get it with Ten Hag, why does he want this shape, we continually struggle to get the ball through and the space for Bruno to operate in becomes super compressed.

Rashford is as useless on the right as Antony. Garnacho was wasteful but he can make something happen.
It's because Luton shift their entire defense to their left where Rashford is. Rashford has been marking so tightly he has to move back to get involved in the game. When he has the ball he always has at least two defenders in front of him. While Garnacho usually has a lot of space on the left and only one defender in front of him. Pay attention when one of them have the ball and you'd see.
