The one redeeming feature of that half, is that the commentator I'm listening to keeps forgetting that he's calling this game on his own. He keeps asking questions only to awkwardly realise there's nobody there to answer them!

Shame about their goal, we've played well other than Varela. Can't see us taking it now, which is a big shame because had we played this way last week we'd be in with a shout.

Mata is a fraudulent bastard, never there when you need him.playing mata there meant Varela had no help.

From a management point of view, its probably a good thing.

LVG can only go out and attack now. Any tactical change or sub has to be attack minded. No fecking about.

What I don't get is why varela didn't go confront him outside the box. He retreated so far inside he couldn't date tackle him, and instead of showing him the line got all his weight backwards. No wonder it was so easy to go passed him he was completely unbalanced by himself.

Surely without much intelligence they can't actually be considered very talented footballers?
I meant in a kind of situational sense. We played decent for most of that half but Liverpool started threatening in the last 5 minutes.

Even though we needed a goal, any sensible team would've slowed things down and got to half time and take it from there. United ran around like headless chickens.

Lingard should have score, same as Rojo. The story could have been different.

They still need to win the game despite not being able to reach the next stage in playoff.

Really sad to see this happen when we were having a great night.

Everyone blaming Varela, he's had feck all help from Lingard all night long
Exactly. Not only that, Lingard is pretty poor as an attacker and his only redeeming quality was that he was good defensively.

You know that you have been shite when feckin Fellaini is better than you.

Night over, boys. We were in the driving seat with 45 mins still to go yet we were playing like we needed a goal in the 90th minute keeping the wings open like that. Mata's been a nightmare, I say this because he should be the real leader in this team and tonight he has done nothing except spray the ball to Rojo. Martial looks like a real leader and has carried us alone tonight.

No fight in these players just a bunch of mercenaries.

I acutally thought they did put up a fight. Half of them out there are just not very good at football.
Our passing is shit, our whole defense is wank. Fellaini is our best midfielder, which says a lot. Lingard has no idea what do with the ball at his feet and Rashford is raw as feck.

Varela was beaten far too easily, but De Gea basically walked the ball into our net with that rubbish positioning. Fair enough if he thought Coutinho was going to pass/cross, but you can't just leave such massive gap at the near post.

The tie is over to be honest, which is a shame because I was starting to believe we could actually make it. However, we are leaving far too much space between the midfield and defence, so Liverpool were always going to score.

Mata should have been helping Varela out possibly for our goal?

Going to be hard now. Don't know whether it's a lack of experience not, but so near to half time we should have been thinking about making sure we don't concede, meaning going into the second half on a high.

Now the scum have scored, they'll be confident going into the second half and just be looking to kill the game. That said, I wouldn't be massively surprised if we did score another three. Just think we'd probably concede another three on the way.

Three goals. I expect Van Gaal to go and tell them to have the games of their lives. If we go out I won't be surprised, but at least it will be a fun match.

Except for Martial there's no attacking threat, Mata, Lingard and Rashford have all been poor so far IMO, Varela also, shame since Liverpool isn't anything special as well.

Coutinho doesn't even have to sprint to get past him, and he even signposts where he's going.

Varela League 2 standard all game.

What I don't get is why varela didn't go confront him outside the box. He retreated so far inside he couldn't date tackle him, and instead of showing him the line got all his weight backwards. No wonder it was so easy to go passed him he was completely unbalanced by himself.

Varela didn't even both to stand him up or get close enough to touch him and put him off balance, instead he usher's Coutinho towards goal with a good angle, let alone down the line.
