Decent first half considering the circumstances. If we can hold on to this lead and get the three points, there's a reason to be more optimistic again with Pogba, Martial and Shaw coming back into the team next week.

NBC yank saying the handball rule is bad because he didn't mean to do it.
Then goes on to say it hits Lindelof's hand between Mane's handball and him scoring (doesn't mention he didn't mean to do it or that it doesn't matter in the slightest because Mane gained an advantage first by handballing it). :wenger:

Pre VAR, both goals are allowed, Post VAR both should have been disallowed. Typical FA fudge really.

Lindelof needs to pick my lottery numbers, very lucky boy, pathetic defending there. Utd have been good though, shape has caused Liverpool problems, McTominay has been a monster.
Our first goal was legitimate.. After the so called foul of Origi, McT passed to James, James ran half the pitch and crossed the ball.. how long do you go back ?

I do agree though the referee should be asked to go and look at the monitor in those situations. Trying to have a VAR official decide whether the referee failed to spot something or not, and whether there is enough evidence to overturn, is a bit ridiculous - because they never overturn anything. Let the ref look at it when in doubt and he can decide whether something was worse than he thought, or he failed to spot something entirely.

All that said, I'm very happy with the way VAR Is being applied today - for obvious reasons.

I don't think it's a foul. He was looking for it, already going down in stages, and once he felt the kick he collapsed.

I respect Klopp as a manager but sometimes he acts like a prat and the look on he's face after both VAR decisions has made my day regardless of the result but if we play 2nd half like 1st then we've got this in the bag..l

Souness trying to argue that a tap on his left shin causes Origi to turn to his left and push off his right foot in order to throw himself to the deck.

    It's such an obvious dive.

    Andreas and Scott brilliant

    Linda is a liability

Fair play to Ole – good tactical set up which is a rarity

Rashford - James duo reminds me of Wolves front two last season when they hadn’t success in 352

Pereira is doing well in the middle third, combative and working hard but he's got to do better with the ball at his feet. He's the one that should be looking to create out of this midfield and he's falling well short in that area.

Really good half, whatever happens in the second half the players deserve a lot of credit today.
James and Rashford are explosive when given a bit of space to work with.

Definitely the best Utd have played. But that was no surprise really? VAR will damage Utd's chances of being able to get rid of Ole. I'm happy to sacrifice 2/3 points to see him stay until the summer.

thats a strikers instinct. some said thats not teachable.... well good thing he already has it
I think that's the kind of tip he mentioned Ole is trying to give them as a striker. To change course in the run. He did that and it gave him loads of space to kill Allison.

Credit where credit is due, Ole deserves the most credit, tactics been spot on, very similar to Tottenham last year. Rashford and James running in the space with Periera sat between them. Periera has been solid today, very impressed all round the park, even Rojo haha.
    Agreed mate.
Both the players and manager deserve credit for this performance, no matter how it ends up.

Yes they did. In attack, every contact to hand by attacker is handball.
In defence- it is still "nobody knows the rule. Ref, you decide"

It makes sense though, especially after the Henry handball versus Ireland all those years ago.

If the same applies to defenders you'd just get attackers trying to kick it against their arms. You see some players try that from time to time.

Most probably he was talking about soccer

    :lol::lol:

Marne was halfway down before he was supposedly touch a clear and a yellow card,FFS.

Am I the only one that didn't think that was a foul on Origi?
Good half from us, the best we've played for some time. Let's hope we keep it tight at the back and hopefully hit them on the counter.

By far our best half this season. Massive second half coming and a result that will boost us a lot in the league table.

    I agree

dives like this happen all the time and teams get given them and we move on

but to pull a goal back to the other end of the pitch for one would be way wayy too far

We've been very good. I'm quite surprised. I only hope we can bring it over the line. We'll need that all important (ridiculously elusive) second goal.

Var is only playing what it should have done, it also took points from United so it's only fair. And so far, perfect decisions. You guys should never get all those decisions for you when you don't deserve them.

Least we got our consolation goal early, Liverpool will turn up second half though.

That cheater Mane did it in CL finals

He is so annoying not just on this instance. Clueless

Mourinho was right before the game, we haven't got the quality or tactical ability to outsmart Liverpool - gotta show heart.

And that's what we've seen in the first half.

Andreas typifies this. Not the best midfielder, some bad decision making, but he's focused and giving it his all.
