We should count ourselves lucky Nostradamus Ole didn't sell Romero because we have some 17-year-old wonder kid at the club.

    So what we looking at?

    --------------Romero--------------
    Dalot--Lindelof--Maguire--Young
    ---McTominay------Fred---
    Andreas-----Rashford-----James

Subs: Grant, Rojo, Tuanzebe, Matic, Chong, Gomes, Greenwood

Won't it be bad enough 11v11?

Random point of discussion: who has been a bigger transfer flop, Fred or Keita?

They were both purchased for around £52m

How the feck do we still have so many uncertainties or injury problems. De gea just got injured, fine. What is actually wrong with Pogba though? His toe? Ankle? Why did we rush him back against Rochdale and the last couple of games only to be gone now? Why is Martial out for 2 months now? Wan Bissaka just "ill" seemingly for ages (and now isnt even fully fit?). What is wrong with Shaw? Feel like itd be nice to get some clear communication and how long they'll be out for, especially as the past month has been pretty disastrous from the club.

We need to score 1st, then we will have something to hold on to at least, if they score 1st it's game over, I think they will pick us off looking for the equaliser.

Martial plays , Rashford, James wide, I think we will get chances, they will want to push to beat us bad, it's our CM that's the problem. Mctominay is ok, other than that the rest are just bad, Fred will get lost in the game, have know one to pass forward . So it's rear guard defensive game, with a hope of a breakaway goal, or set piece. . Cross fingers game.

If Martial, Shaw and Wan bissaka are fit enough to start:
    Romero
    Wan Bissaka Lindelof Maguire Shaw
    McTominay Matic
    James Lingard Rashford
    Martial

Without them, Mata comes in for Martial (reshuffle), Young and Dalot in for the fullbacks? Either way midfield is a bit shit. Pogba and Martial will make the biggest difference anyway.

Henderson. Actually kind of surprising he didn't keep Henderson and send Romero packing considering the precedent.

Dead loss this is shaping up to be. Romero for DeGea, ambivalent about that. Wan Bissaja might not be ill if we're lucky. Is Shaw fit for a change??

Pogba won't jeapordise his January transfer..

Likely to make little difference if Martial is fit or still nursing some unspecified hurty bit. He takes ages to find some semblance of form before picking up his next 'knock' or 'strain'. Wouldn't have made any difference retaining Sanchez because, surprise surprise, he's injured. Again..
Squad of glass ornaments and second rate gash that shouldn't be anywhere near a Manchester United team.

    Expect we'll win 1-0.

    Really couldn't make it up.

Pogba often swerves the big games but de gea has missed anhandfi

You've gone worst case, as Martial and Wan Bissaka will surely be ready, hopefully Shaw too.

Just to milk it, you've got 10 players

Why are so many posters putting Shaw back in the team, I can't think of a worse match to bring him in.

Agreed. Given how Liverpool play, this is a match where you want all your players as close to 100% match fit as possible. This is not the occasion to ease yourself back into the first team.

Think we’ll pleasantly surprise a few on here and score

    4-1 them

I'll channel my inner Kevin Keegan: I'd love it if we beat them.

    I'd prefer Henderson too, personally.

I’m going to play the doom monger. We’re going to get tonked. Enjoy the media backlash.

    Would play :
    Romero
    AWB-VNL-Harry-Young
    -McT-Matic-Fred-
    Andreas-Rashford-James

Martial in for Andreas after 60 min depending on how we look.

    Counter, counter, counter
And then get countered, countered, countered.

Apparently we're getting beat 0-3, 0-4, 0-5 or 0-6 so i'd rather throw rookie Brandon Williams in knowing he'll at least give Salah and Terence Trent Darby or whatever his name is problems going forward, and not look lost blowing out his backside after 15 minutes like Shaw will.

    ---------------- Romero -----------------
    - AWB - Lindelof - Maguire - Rojo - Shaw
    --------- Mctominay ---- Fred ----------
    ----------------- Lingard ----------------
    ------------ Rashford - Martial ----------

Park the bus and hope for a succesful counter.

If Liverpool get an early goal and we have to take the game to them it could get very ugly for us.

Our only chance is to sit back, restrict them space and hope it works again as it has for us in this fixture before recently. Their midfield is very ordinary so sitting in deep can work against them. We will get beat comfortably though if the game opens up. They are just far superior. Sad but true.

0-0 or 1-1 not out of the question if we play negatively. I just don't think any positive attacking game can work for us. They are just too dangerous in transition.

Think we have to go three at the back really. I'd do it, but I'm not the manager and I think he'll opt to play Mata or Andreas, or both in some kind of 4231 or 442 diamond. I want this though:

    Romero
    Lindelof Maguire Tuanzebe
    Wan-Bissaka McTominay Matic Shaw
    James Martial Rashford
    ---
Grant; Young, Rojo; Fred, Andreas, Mata; Greenwood

I wouldn't usually want Matic to start, particularly against Liverpool, but he's probably best suited in this system and would be there to basically just defend - probably take the inevitable yellow card for the team and be subbed off later for the energy of Fred. Hopefully a back three plus Matic dropping deep helps combat their front three while our wingbacks stop them getting too much joy from their fullbacks.

Just keep trying to find a pass to one of our front three on the counter and hope they can nick a goal. I can really see us winning 1-0... But a Liverpool win is clearly more likely. I'll be surprised if it's a drubbing of 3+ goals though, that rarely happens to us.

Can’t see us not getting slapped.

    Romero
    Lindelof - Maguire - Rojo
    AWB - McTominay - Axel - Young
    James - Martial - Rashford

park the bus and hope for the best on the counter
