Sherwood and Phill Thompson creaming themselves over Liverpool on The Debate tonight. You wouldn’t think Liverpool have achieved precisely nothing under Klopp, nor would you think they sit behind us in the table.

If we’re so bad and average, what must they be to be behind us? Embarrassing times in the media.

Wouldn't waste a second of my time listening to old salty bastards like Thompson. They all forget that a team can't be all that without winning a single trophy in a decade.

If Pog is out, then its going to be a 3412

A bore draw written all over this.

Oh ffs N.O O.O. Pogba must play. Why does everything always conspire against us when we play Utd?!
You seriously can't see how shit he's been this season because you support your club and the narrative that Pogba is world class. He might have shown glimpses of being world class, mainly in Italy, but he causes Utd endless headaches for midfield set up. Again, I won't expect you to see this and long may it continue.

He likes space and zero defending, which is a paradox in a Jose team. With him out Utd's midfield will be a lot more solid which we could do without.

    1/10 for the effort though.

Liverpool fans for you. We lose one of our most important players and it disadvantages them. True delusion. Or plain wumming. No fanbase is more irritating.

Win few games and they start shit posting everywhere.

I hope to God we win. Two of my workmates (one happens to be my boss) are Liverpool scums. When I was leaving work today I was being courteous and said good luck. His (other guy, not my boss) response was we're not friends until the game ends and he wants to see some spite from me. So I told him I hate you and Liverpool then he showed me his middle finger

Fellaini being back is quite nice for this game. If he's fully fit, I'd go (though I'd expect lingard for martial here).

    De Gea
    Valencia Bailly Smalling Shaw
    Fellaini Matic Pogba
    Sanchez
    Martial Lukaku

    My team would be:
    De Gea
    Valencia Bailly Smalling Young
    Fellaini Matic Pogba
    Lingard
    Lukaku Sanchez
Fellaini coming back is so great. If he is fully fit, I would play him from the start and play long balls to him. It would be so nice to see 'em dippers struggling against big Fellaini in midfield. I am sure he will play a part in the game at least from the bench.

Martial for Fellaini and that's the attack and midfield I hope to see one game this season. Lukaku on the right, a midfield 3 of Matic/Pogba/Alexis, and both Martial and Rashford playing. It'll never happen, though.

I think Martial is injured still. Might be on the bench but I doubt he will be starting..

Christ this one has me on edge. As always form goes out the window for both teams. Hoping we could get a sneaky 1-0 job but the more likely outcome is a draw. Fingers crossed for it anyway. Come on lads!!!

Yeah, I know, which is a shame, but I was just talking about at some point this season I'd like to see said line-up. :)

That's twice I've been told that. I watch all Utd games that are on the telly (sky and bt). Utd are usually on in the big games, understandably. He often doesn't perform against big teams that can harass him. I see what I need to see for the big games and there's no bigger than Liverpool v Utd.
I agree that he doesn't perform well against high pressing teams (yourselves, City, Spurs) and have criticised him for his showing in big games for us in the past back when people were saying we'd be fine once he came back from injury, but we have a much better chance of winning with him in the team than not so I don't know what you're getting at. It's not like any of our other options are better so I can't see why you'd prefer him in the team than the options we have to replace him.

who in gods name wouldwear these abomonations, they should be banned and the sellers selling them banned from OT.

You clearly haven't been watching our games regularly, he's been one of our better players this year. Admittedly with a few bad games thrown in there, but to say he's been shit this season is a massive disservice.

Tbf that's sourness' account on CAF, expect nothing better

We are 7/4 on Paddy Power, they are 6/4. Am I right in thinking 7/4 is an extremely tempting price?

Fingers crossed, hopefully Pogbas fit for the game. For all the talk about him being out of form, the fact of the matter is that we have nobody in our squad who can even come close to replacing him.Thats why we desperately need to sign 2 quality central midfielders in the summer....

We must ensure that we are accurate in possession for this one. As we all know Liverpool like to press high and we cannot affor to lose the ball in our own half - Salah and Mane will destroy us otherwise. I feel we must be patient in possession. Tire them out, make them impatient and then when the opportunity arises, attack them as fast as possible.

If we score first, we must not take our foot off the pedal too. If we sit too deep they will undo us eventually.

Come on you reds (proper reds)

Not sure where or who in place of but I’d start Lingard. This sort of game has his name written all over it.

we all know whats going to happen, we just have to score on our chances.

I've never had an issues with Jose's top 6 tactics. The simple truth is that the strikers and attackers have to be clinical under these tactics.

Take the OCT fixture, everyone talks about the "bus" and De Gea, everyone forgets that lukaku was in on goal and hit it straight at mings. Either side he scores, meaning liverpool have to attack even harder and thus opening more space for the counter.

It's a tactic that increases risk, but against the top 6 i'm happy with that. If people/commentators want to salivate over city losing 4-3 as a "win for football" instead of taking a point or winning 1-0 then what can you do?

I fully expect Salah to have a quiet game, being nullified by one of our specially assigned players.
Scousers getting so cocky before this derby, it's amazing, it's worse than before the game at Anfield. For this reason alone it is a very very important game, not even about the points but about wiping that smug off Klopp's ugly mug. Couldn't care less about the style, we need a win. at all costs.

Late, but just seen that team update tweets.

If Pogba is really out, we don't have much good options at midfield, either one of Carrick/McTominay then.

Starting central midfield candidates: Matic, Carrick, McTominay.

Fellaini just returned back from injury, doubt fully match fit, should we risk it and rush him starting this game?

    Carrick or McTominay?

McTominay all day. Carrick has barely had minutes, he'd be completely overwhelmed.

Woo.. not long left to go!!

Normally, when I get this excited, it usually ends in disappointment. Let's hope that's not the case. Hope we continue showing the recent character and sneak in a 2-1 win.

Extremely confident for this encounter following the comeback against Palace. We'll come out the blocks on fire, the scousers won't know hit 'em.

I'm thinking 4-1 United. Pogba, Sanchez & Lukaku ×2 the goalscorers.

Jose could surprise us all and pick Bailly in there.

Got tickets for the captains lounge today. Let’s hope we can get a win and play with some ambition! 3-1 United...

This would be nice but it’s a fairytale!

Although he's rubbish going forward, I still reckon that Darmian is our best defensive FB and I'd have him in tomorrow to keep tight on Salah, with Shaw in front of him to provide some width when needed.

Darmian at fullback and Shaw infront is far far too negative. We have our own players that can be devastating on the left wing (eg: martial, Rashford, Sanchez) and we need to think how they can hurt Liverpool

Stranger things have happened, brother. What's the alternative? Carrick? It's not like he's been inundated with game-time either.

I suspect he will play Smalling with Lindelof. They both scare me.

But you will need someone who can provide the outlet ball from the high pressing that the Scousers will apply -- thus Lindelof. Smalling is there by default.

I would easy Bailey into the match fitness and maybe play Eric in the halfway in the 2nd half when we are ahead.

    Then play Eric against Seville.
